Dravid so far is the worst captain i have seen in my lifetime...he was like a little girl running away from responsibilities,he jus cudnt even handle it,he was on the edge......take ganguly he was successful for 5 years with all the pressure from media, peers ans some good for nothing critics like you.He was the reason why dravid is still in the team...he infused the positive vibe and the aggressive approach.......Do not even try to compare the captaincy of two extreme players.one mentally strong and the other one quite opposite...Ok u can answer me if u can,why was ganguly awarded the best captain in 75 years cricketing history...

Why is he in the team?
by India on Oct 08, 2008 01:57 PM  | Hide replies

Ganguly is not in form. So why is he in the team? The same goes to the other 3 deadbeats. Why are they in the team? Because they have scored more than 10000 runs? But now they have lost the capacity to score even 10 runs in an innings. Just look at Dravid. He plays 100 balls to score 10 runs. Sachin can't face more than 20 balls in an innings. They are batting like tail enders.

Good that Ganguly taking retirement.
by maram jyothi on Oct 08, 2008 12:53 PM

Good that Ganguly taking retirement. Many Youngsters should also get chance. There should be one senior supporting junior. Now, Sachin and Kumble left. They should also take reitirement when they find good youngster player in the team.

'Voluntary retirement' was only option for Sourav
by Sameer K on Oct 08, 2008 11:17 AM

Much before Sourav Ganguly announced his retirement on Tuesday in Bangalore, he had spoken to the powers-that-be in the BCCI. According to our sources, Sourav informed the BCCI of his desire to sign off his international career after the two-Test series against the Englishmen, against whom he had made a memorable debut way back in 1996.

He got a sympathetic hearing and some assurances, paving the way for his 'return' to the Team India fold. The assurances, however, came with a couple of riders.

First, he would get only the series against Australia. Secondly, it would be up to the new selectors to judge his performance in the first two Tests before he is given an extension till the end of the series.
====================================

It seems Ganguly was sure about his performances against Australia and choose to retire, maybe after failing.

END OF GREAT INDIAN CRICKET ONCE FAB FOUR LEFT THE SCENE
by SURYAPRAKASH TATA on Oct 08, 2008 10:45 AM  | Hide replies

ONCE THE FAB FOUR I.E. GANGULY, LAXMAN, DRAVID & SACHIN LEAVES CRICKET INDIAN CRICKET WILL DIE COMPLETELY AND THERE IS NO VIEWERS FOR IT AS WELL. IN THE LAST 2 DECADES CRICKET IN INDIA BECAME SO BIG COZ OF FAB 4 ONLY AND TODAY BCCI ENJOYING RICHEST BOARD STATUS WAS ALSO DUE TO FAB 4 ONLY. UNFORTUNATELY WE PEOPLE OF INDIA WERE NOT ATTACKING BCCI WHICH IS PLAYING WITH LIFES OF CRICKETERS AND MAKING POLITICS IN CRICKET BUT WE WERE DISRESPECTING CRICKETERS.

INDIAN CRICKET WILL FINISH COMPLETELY ON THE DAY ON WHICH SIR. BHARATH RATHNA SACHIN RAMESH TENDULKAR RETIRES FROM CRICKET.

ONCE SACHIN RETIRES I WILL NEVER SEE CRICKET COZ NONE OF THE YOUNGER CRICKETERS NEITHER HAVE THAT GREAT TALENT OR DEDICATION. EVERY YOUNGER PLAER KEEP COMMENTING AFTER MAKING A HUNDRED, OR TAKING SOME WICKETS TO PUT PRESURE ON SELECTORS TO COME IN WHICH IS VERY BAD. RECENTLY ROHITH SHARMA, YUVRAJ SINGH ETC AFTER JUST SCORING A 100 EACH IN THAT PRACTICE MATCH STARTED GIVING COMMENTS. SO WHAT THEIR PERFORMANCES BEFORE THAT?. ROHITH SHARMA GOT MANY CHANCES THAN ANY ONE BUT PLAYED NOW AND THEN ONLY. NEEDS CONSISTENCY LIKE SACHIN,DRAVID THEN U CAN CLAIM A SPOT. DRAVID IS GREAT CRICKETER WITH HIGHEEST DEGREE OF TECHNIQUE IN WORLD CRICKET AFTER SUNIL, SACHIN OR EVEN RATED MORE TECHNICALLLY CORRECT THAN SACHIN. WRITING HIM OFF IS REALLY SAD. I LOVE TO SEE HIM DEFENDING BEST OF WORLD ATTACKS LIKES OF AMBROSE, WALSH, GLENN, LEE, POLLOCK, CAIRNS ETC. SEE IN THIS SERIED, SACHIN,DRAVID, LAXMAN AND SAURAV

Once you stop watching Cricket, I think all the Sports Channels are going to go bankrupt, and all of them are going to appeal to you not to stop watching Cricket.
And simultaneously, all grounds are going to be empty, and soon after that, Cricket is going to be wiped out of Oxford Dictionary.
Idiot!

Selfless Ganguly
by A Singh on Oct 08, 2008 10:45 AM

Though I believe Ganguly's praise as a great Test Match Captain, is thoroughly undeserved, he has demonstrated unfailing selflessness many times which is in stark contrast to one of other seniors.
He and Sachin were an established opening pair in ODIs, when suddenly, Sehwag blasted on the scene. Statisticians will vouch for my statement here, that as long as Dada and Sachin were opening together, Dada was more successful, both in terms of average score and Strike rate, and he was the Captain.
Yet he sacrificed his opening position to accommodate Sehwag, instead of forcing Sachin to drop down.
Since Dada dropped himself down, he was never the same again, but he did it for his team.
