Kumble wants to now hang on with army of oldies
by pradeep agarwal on Oct 04, 2008 06:13 PM

It is all within the same family. He also wants to continue as long as possible with captainship with group of oldies.Let us not get fooled by performance of aussies in practice matches. They will fight hard in real contests & we would have been better with stronger arms & legs in field. let us see how much experience players contribute in what is dubbed as best chance to beat aussies in many years.

Thanks!
by Ramesh on Oct 03, 2008 07:15 PM  | Hide replies

Enough, thanks to all the senior players and their contribution to our nation!!. They have done their bit when they were in the time. Now the time has come for them to pave way for other youngsters. We want to see new faces in Indian Cricket. We are greatful to all the senior players for their contribution in the past. Now I would humbly request them to exit the international cricket gracefully.

Media - Think Postive
by Yash on Oct 03, 2008 04:47 PM

Looking at these comments and media reports doesn’t surprise because every time we tend to do this in every field not just in cricket. Instead of boasting morale of all the players, what we are doing here is to just criticize them. Don’t just say “Chak De India or “Jai Hind” when someone wins a gold medal or win a match.

We need to remember few things:

• Selectors have picked up a team, give them full support and then see, whether they have performed or not.
• Secondly, when our team visit abroad every time, even the host media has always made difficult for our teams by discussing all the negative things.

What is more important “when somebody is representing us, we need to be positive in our comments for them, so that they feel good and proud that someone is there to back them?”

Instead of writing this many comments, I suggest all of you to send memo to selectors to drop players whom you dont want.

People like u can only play from their mouth....
they can decide their shots after watching replays on the TV screen.

But still no shame to comment on sachin, shameless people like can do this. No wonder.... :x

Where are the swift fielders in the 1st test team?
by VASUDEVAN V on Oct 03, 2008 02:54 PM  | Hide replies

With all the golden oldies selected in the team, the slip area is bound to be over-crowded. As there is hardly any young swift legs to run and stop boundaries, accompanying the ball to the boundary will be order of the day among the Indian fielders, appropriately dubbed the Dad's army!

if dravid and ganguly and laxman fail in this series....
by LeaveSRKandSachinAlone on Oct 03, 2008 12:54 PM  | Hide replies

if dravid makes less than 200 runs in this series or Ganguly makes less than 250 runs or Laxman makes less than 200 runs, its high time to show them the door. tendulkar should not be touched as he is an inspiration to youngsters. we have suresh raina, rohit sharma and virat kohli waiting in the wings. a home series against england in november would be a good starting point to start inducting newbies into the side. this is all of course if ganguly, laxman and dravid fail. same also for kumble who should be replaced by ojha if he fails in this series.

sachin should be subject to the same rules and norms as everyone else in indian cricket. u can't have a different set of rules for anyone or else it will be used to to criticize and bring that individual down.

then u don't know the importance of sachin to the team which extends beyond the amount of runs he makes every series. go and learn history of indian cricket in last 20 years.

Yeah,Sachin is the best actor I have seen, even putting bollywood actors(ironically most do not know to act) to shame....he fakes his injuries like noone....he goes to south africa for getting treatment for a scratch on his little finger...

Yes, even otherwise Sachin cannot be touched. With every part of his body crying out in pain, over the last 3 years he has been out injured more often than not! If you touch him, he will cry out in pain. Yes, do not touch Sachin. Just drop him!

sehwag another senior on hit list..
by HI on Oct 03, 2008 12:00 PM  | Hide replies

one can never rely on sehwag. he mostly gets 20s or 30s or duck and occassionaly a big century.
a consistent good start is needed against aussies.
otherwise he is another senior who should be on firing line.

Incomparable Sehwag can win matches single-handedly... He is a high risk taker and he doesn't mind exploring new ways of playing cricket. Near the exit phase of seniors, Sehwag started showing maturity in selecting the shots and became more reliable than any of Fab-4. Still he is under-utilised in bowling department because of selfish Kumble.
