India should prepare dust bowls
by Ugly Casper on Oct 04, 2008 09:08 AM  | Hide replies

India's run of decimating team came in 90s in the backdrop of dustbowls where Kumble could run through the opposition teams. Indian wickets have changed over the years. They have become flatter and flatter, with no assistance to spin. If the wickets are similar to what we had against Pakistan then Australia has a better chance of beating us. India should preparte wickets like in Mumbai in 2004 where India bowled out Australia for 93. After all being a home series India has a right to prepare wickets to suit to its advantages.

India were warned for turning out underprepared tracks just to win matches. More such tricks could make India win but may also draw flak in International cricket circles and such venues could be banned by ICC for a long time. Best is for BCCI to leave it to curators. We should trust our team and its strengths rather than depending only on pitches

what kumble yaar??
by vinay on Oct 02, 2008 10:48 PM  | Hide replies

kumble says, 'Probably this is our best chance to go out there and win the series'. kumble u r not playing ausis in ausi but in ind, n ausis' record in ind is not gr8. in fact, these r the words ought to hv been put in the mouth of ponting n not kumble.
if ind doesnt allow ausis to win here, that is not gr8 news. but if ausis beat us in ind, it vl b a gr8 loss to ind.

Mr Vinay
Being an Indian to talk of an Australian Victory is a shameful act.You must consider the fact that theIndians are the only Team which made the Australians sink in their own cave in Australia when we met last. Apart from a shameful Sydney the Australians would have had the hardest rub to their fame. You are definitely going to see an Australian loss very badly here as was the case when Border met Gavaskar in 1980. Indians are the only match for the Australians. The Jounior Indian Team also is all cheered up and we will see the rise of the Indian Team-future to be the Conquerors of the Cricket World in all sorts of the Game of Cricket be it Tests, Onedays or the T20s.
Respect our country and stand by it be it a loss or a victory. Try to behave like an Indian

shankar, i never said anything or cheering abt ausi victory. i meant ind is always favourite at home pitches n even ausis consistent winning capt steve waugh found it difficult to conquer us in ind. v r vulnerable in ausi but they r vulnerable in ind.
so kumble is wrong in his statement. had kumble stated this while playing them in ausis, then it wud hv served the purpose.

Performance against Aussies in last 4 years (including two test serie)
by Anurag Rathore on Oct 02, 2008 07:01 PM

In Test (Batting)
Only two players have more than 50 average others are under 33.
1.V.Sehwag - 53.18
2.S.Tendulkar - 51.18

In ODI (Batting)
1.S.Tendulkar - 38.20
2.MS Dhoni - 36.81
Others are under 32.

In Test (Bowling)
1.A.Kumble - 29.23
Others average are above 34.

In ODI (Bowling)
1.I.Sharma - 19.33
2.Sreesanth - 23.55
Others average are above 35.

In above stats I didn't include P.Kumar and M.Kartik.
See what did Dravid and Ganguly? Even Laxman is not in the list. In Bowling Sreesanth has been ignored once again.

CHANGE, reg
by venkataraman jagannathan on Oct 02, 2008 07:00 PM

Seeing the performance of our talented youngsters, in the on-going BP-IX vs AUS, we should motivate and encourage and provide more oppertunities, to them. Till a few weeks back, SACHIN was unfit for the Tests; Ganguly was never in the run--suddenly things are different...SACHIN is declared fit; Ganguly included etc....Come on let us face the ground realitites, mann.

While it is noted that the SENIORS (Ganguly/Dravid/Sachin/Laxman/Kumble/Harbachan)have performed excellent, during their heydays, it is high time they should retire/be replaced, in a phased manner with the talented younger group, who are bubbling with energy and enthusiasm to perform, for India.
It may be tough decission, for the eminent NEW Seletion Committee, but BETTER LATE THAN NEVER.
Let us not get cowed down by any team; let us have CONFIDENCE and induece CONFIDENCE in our talented younger players..We have quite a number for coinsideration.
Good luck, youngsters!!!
Come on, Selection Committe, WAKE UP and bring the CHANGE---Change alone brings out the best, while the NORMAL brings about COMPLESENCY.

Rohit just made a century
by exoticdesi on Oct 02, 2008 06:52 PM  | Hide replies

Rohit just made a century and it will be hard to ignore him. He is in really good form. Maybe it would be wise to sit out one of the four bigs in every match Sachin/Laxman/Rahul/Ganguly and instead give chance to Rohit/Badrinath. For the first match at Mohali, Sachin can sit out, as he hasn't had a match from long time and needs more rest.

Similarly, they should induce one of Pragyan/Piyush and sit out Harbhajhan. Aussies have prepared hard against Bhajji and will be going hard on him to settle some scores. The newcomer will throw them off as a surprise. (Ideally Kumble might be a better candidate to sit out, he has lost his sting. But don't see how that can happen since he is Captain)

i think its time to change test captaincy.if india has to will against australia, there is no doubt in anybodies mind that kumble, tendulkar, dravid, ganguly & vvs has done great job for indian cricket, but its time for change give chance to younger & more energetic person who could deliver in the years to come.

I have not been the guy putting on messages on board but i find it so silly of ppl writting which makes no sense.

replace sachin, rahul, sorav with whom...dont suggest raina, rohit, badrinath etc...just compare the records for last 12 months....these guys have hardly been consistent.....n we are talking abt test cricket ....the fab 4 r still good with their catching...before india toured england ppl were after dhoni and he was fighting to retain his place in the team...make yr choice...

India win or loose this series, captain should change for next series. We can't wait for Kumble's retirement.
