With the coffers of BCCI overflowing I feel the name of the parent body needs to be changed to BSCI to represent all the major sports activities which need encouragement making enough money available to other major medal winning sports. We have to spot the talent at a very early stage, groom the players, appoint the best of coaches giving stipends to purchase the best sportgear and get rid of autocratic sports personalities who have earned laurells but are too old to give inputs now in the vastly changed world of sports. In cricket too BCCI had week knees esp. when it was apparent that the senior players have not been performing and need to be replaced by younger talented players. These senior players think that they cannot be touched. Thank God our cricket teams are now full of many youngsters who are good . The results are for everyone to see. Why BCCI should wait for these senior players to decide as to when to retire?. This applies to other sports as well Senior players continue to dominate the teams and India faulters to face the challenges. It is a pity the Indian contingent for the olympics is always loaded with more officials than the players. Change we need; President Elect Barack Obama of the United States election slogen could be Indian sports slogen as well.

Laxman is under rated ...just like dada was given shabby treatment by BCCII!!!! This inclusionin technical commiittee is a gimmick/eye wash!!
by S Narain on Nov 21, 2008 04:17 PM

Laxman is one of the most unassuming players , he may not be able to make his individual record as good as Sachin or Dravid, but his contribution to the team is quite the same.
Just like dada who was resposible for making Indian team ,force to reckon with by nurturing match winning talents like Yuvraj,Sehwag,Bhajji,Pathan,Zaheer..even Dhoni. He changed the face of Indian cricket...
however ungrateful Indians plotted against him and tried to humiliate him in all possible manners,,, but he was a real tiger & gave parting slap or kick on the ass of rascals like BCCI/ Vengy/Kiran More/Chappel...

It's surprising to see sourav will hold any post in BCCI since BCCI president is shashank manohar. This manohar is the same person who was VCA president during 2004 AUS tour of IND.and the man behind to prepare the green top turf in nagpur test despite heavy objection from sourav.it was for sure to nail down sourav by the defeat from AUS.At the end any thing is possible in indian cricket.

shashank manohar is a big politician
he wanted to sack ganguly as captain in 2004-2005

now he is inclined to ganguly
he knows dada's popularity and position in india and indian cricket
just using him vs DALMIYA
nothing else

Dont see everything with a Ghaati mentality think like a human being .... Ganguly DADA is the best cricketing brain in this country so if he is made a committee member nothing is wrong. Infact that dirty politician Gavaskar should be sacked and Ganguly shud be made the chairman of the technical committee ... cricket in India will improve.

dada is not a politician
he is fighter who has always slapped his critics like u with his comebacks

dravid is the biggest politician
he backstabbed ganguly under his captaincy
he forgot that his odi career would have ended in 2000 if ganguly would have made him a wicketkeeper

and look at sachin, so selfish,he is selected for odis
now either gautam or veeru will have to sit out bcoz the great sachin wats to open in bangalore odi

sourav and kumble r selfless players thats why they retired
the stupid dravid avgs only 31 in last 2 yrs in tests
his avg vs AUS in recent test series is just 15
still this stupid dravid wants to play
sahmeless dravid
lol!

Dada
by vsgiri on Nov 21, 2008 12:09 PM  | Hide replies

Dada has been inducted into the technical committee for reasons very well known to those who follow Indian cricket. Dada was siding with Dalmia for long long years in order to sustain his position as both player and captain inspite of very poor performance during 2004-06 . He deserted Dalmia as ordered by Pawar and wrote against Dalmia to get back into the team. Damia has put a perjury case against BCCI exec. Members and also Gavaskar’s son is a permanent resident of Kolkata and has played for Bengal ,(also India, courtsy Ganguly i9n the Aus. Tour when S. Ramesh ( average of 41 in Tests) was not given a single chance and came back totally disappointed. Pontring has rightly called Gavaskaqr an opportunist. Istill remember that Match at Bangalore where he had to open with Gopal Bose in a Test match and intentionally showed his dislike in opening with Bose.

If Dada was performing poor and still making to the side in 2004-06, then what is your comments about Dravid's performance since 2007 WC and particularly in 2008. Whom is Dravid siding to latch on his place. In 2004 Dada had his age on his side .... Dravid doesnot even have that ... then what keeps him in the team still?
Also after scoring the maximum runs in World Test cricket since Jan 2007 to till date, why DADA was not selected for Irani Tropy??? That is not dirty politics????
