on ponting
by amar das on Nov 21, 2008 01:51 PM

dear ponter your every statement is like a chieldist. We think your statement is always valueless.Becoz you do not have any cricketing brain.Whatever sucess you have got that is basis of your other 10 members other than you.If you think you are great captain, why you surrender the series to Dhoni, who is just 3 years old in international career. You all Ausrailians are well known as uncivilized ileteral.

pointing's memory is not qutie good
by Debashish Ghosh on Nov 20, 2008 10:22 PM

i was young but me too remember that indicinet vividly.. it was a clear case of bat bad.. the edge was so loud that even spectators and commentators could hear it but not the umpire.. on top it lilee went to him and pointed to his pads.. later on lille and gavaskar patched up. i saw a tv show with two of them together discussing the issue.. gavaskar went on to explain that it was not the lbw decision but an abusive / racist remark from an austrlian fielder that made him push chetan chauhan towards the dressing room along with him.. there are quite a few other facts i would add..
1. the opening partnership was already very big and real threat to australia
2. after given out, gavaskar never said anything to any australian.
3. the indian manager came in and sent back chauhan along with no. 3.
4. india went on to win that test.. thanks to the efforts of another indian greatest.. kapil dev. who bowled with a groin injury in the 4th innings.
5. finally, much to my satisfaction, greg chappel got a duck in australian 2nd innings.

now mr. ponting as usual does not remember anything else except gavaskar pushing chauhan off the field.
wake up mr. ponting and look at the whole issue instead of being typical narrow minded and focusing on only what you want to look at. continue doing so, your days are surely numbered.. you managed just 4 against nz yesterday that too at home..

Pointing finger at Gavaskar does not justify Australian behaviour
by Poorna Thejaswi on Nov 20, 2008 08:01 PM

Pointing a finger at Gavaskar does not justify the barbarian behaviour of Australian players. We also have a clear image of how Dennis Lillie (mis)behaved when Gavaskar was arguing with the umpire on the decision. Gavaskar is not an angel, Dennis Lillie is not a gentleman either.
We have also seen how Australians have played their game (and won most) by tormenting their opponents with their sledging and dirty games. We have also seen how Ponting and his pack of Hyenas played the test series in Australia (especially in Sydney) with lack of sportsmanship, disrespect to the opponents and umpires and disrepute to the game of cricket. Ponting does not have any right to talk anything bad about Kumble. He will never reach the heights Kumble is at in terms of his behaviour on and off the ground.

It seems like loosing to India has hurt their bottom baddly.

Most teams would rather be #1 and behave with dignity than be #1 and get rolled over by the #7 team for 214. Yeah, supremacy indeed!

newtons' third law of gravitation.
by vinay on Nov 20, 2008 10:26 AM

ausis r agrieeved with the newtons' third law of gravitation.

they think that every action shud hv no reaction. they shud start the action n further that action shud nt get any reaction. aussi r known to start the altercation, even vettori has charged them of it.

even the icc believes in them. their referees all kind of action on the field but if the reaction comes to it, referees ban the opponent players.

Sunny.... Take a call on this. Don't ever be silent..
by Rama on Nov 20, 2008 08:45 AM  | Hide replies

Sunny, Its your turn. You have tremendous experience and exposures with these baddy ausies. If you write your Autobiography you can make a fullstop for the Ausies in future. We are not slave in Cricketting era. We are the best at present, and we have/had great players who dominates over the period of time. I am sure Ausies would have left you lots of moments in your career. I am sure that your Autobiography will make best selling among criket fans.

Just dont be silent.

Ponting had the courage now
by krish on Nov 20, 2008 08:38 AM  | Hide replies

I am happy that Ponting came out strong against the media and so called Indian greats. After the WC defeat India found the right way to defeat Aussies is to 'put their ball back same way' - they did it wonderfully well but went beyong the line. result - Srisanth, Bhajji, Zakhir etc penalised for physical abuse. Aussies stoped with just mumbling only but we went in a typical indian way of physical and verbal attacks. It is not only the Indian greats but also the ABC commentator like Glenn Mitchel who fell flat for a nice present of a Kashmir carpet -started this to reciprocate the sentiments. Indians have learnt the tricks now - not sure if it is only cricket skills but mental and physical assault to upset the Aussies. If they are really skilled they should have won against the Sri Lankans in the recent test matches and against SA a bit earlier and so on. I think India should continue to trick the Aussies this way when the whole media and other indian greats are their byside and keep winning. But mind you, you may win only against Aussies not against others stronger nations. We have seen Bundulkar and co shivered against Mendis recently....Keep it up India.

Ponting Shut up
by Hitesh Sharma on Nov 20, 2008 08:36 AM

Gavaskar was a walker.... he never stayed for umpire's decision

The case Ponting is mentioning is when he was given out lbw with a huge edge.... it was bat first then pad..... later the umpire was sorry too...

still gavaskar walked after letting the umpire know the mistake he made....

when is was walking the bowler.... i guess lilee said something nasty..... and Gavaskar pushed his partner to the pavilion as he decided not to play that match anymore....

even lilee guess said sorry...

So Ponty know your facts.....or lick the potty clean

Gavaskar was no angel in his playing days, says Ponting
by PRAKASH TANWANI on Nov 20, 2008 08:15 AM

I THINK THEY(PONTING,GILCHRIST,SYMONDS,HAYDEN) KNOW THAT THIS WAS THEIR LAST SERIES IN INDIA & AUSSIE MEDIA IS LASHING PONTING FOR THE DEFEAT AGAINST INDIA,SO TO SAVE THEIR FACE SUCH COMMENTS ARE MADE. BCCI SHOULD TAKE UP THE ISSUES WITH AUSTRALIAN BOARD AND DEMAND AN APOLOGY FROM ALL THE ABOVE PLAYERS FOR THEIR RESPECTIVE REMARKS.
