Indians atpresent are playing like masters, but they should not be swayed by two consecutive wins.I am yet to forget the domestic series against Pakistan when India lost four games in a row and series,in which India had won first two games.

This team is different. This team has habit of winning the series before the last match.

Domestic Series against pakistan?? Are you crazy? You know the meaning of Domestic or International?
There are lot of contributions from Gujarati people for winning the matches for India. There are not only great businessmen and running economy of India but also bringing pride in Cricket. Hats off to Gujju players i.e. Yusuf, Munaf, Zaheer and last but not the least umpire Mr. Ameesh Saheba. All are giving contributions to their level best to win the series.

Cut this crap. We are all Indians. this is an Indian team. I have never heard of Mahatma Gandhi being termed as a Gujarati or Subhas Bose as a Bengali

In past also there have been very good Gujju players: Jasu Patel, Bapu Nadkarni, Dilip Doshi,..

You forgot to mention late Harshad Mehta. Who single handedly got millions of people on the road. With his single minded focus to loot the stock market. He is also a great Gujrathi. Jay Gujrat

After all the muslim bashing by Narendra Modi and others, see you still are mentioning only gujarathis who are muslims. What an irony!!!
India has won 7 out of 10 One Day matches on this ground.
Interestingly, in the last 7 matches India has won 6 and lost only one against Pak in 2004(remembered for Afridi's 9 sixes).
India won their first ever Test Match in Kanpur after playing Test matches for 24 years. They defeated the might Australians led by Richie Benaud. Jasu Patel took 14 wickets and crippled such a strong team on Historic Green Park pitch.
This figure "24" is very interesting. India won their first cricket world cup after 24 years (1983) and 20-20 World cup after 24 years(2007). :-)
Re: Some Interesting facts of Green Park, Kanpur
by Zinda Dil on Nov 19, 2008 06:30 PM
Corrections: India's first ever Test match win was against England, at Madras in 1951-52 series. In Kanpur it was India's first ever test win against Australia.
In the bowling department too, India's embarrassment of riches contrasts England's thin resources, both in the spin and pace segments. What does "India's embarrassment of riches" mean ?????????
Re: What does ''India's embarrassment of riches'' mean ?
by S Shrikanth on Nov 19, 2008 06:55 PM
I thought emabarassment riches means "Embarassment of rich and wealthy Cricketers".
Take RP Singh, not sure of his place in the team, has constructed a house at a cost Rs 2 Crore in the poshest locality of Lucknow, in only 2 years.
So, if a cricketer fails, it is an embarassment of the rich. Yuvraj Singh has been an embarassment, a big failure, for 10-12 innings before the series against England.

by Kirit Shah on Nov 19, 2008 06:22 PM
Embarrassment of riches means,,...we have so many bowlers available for selections that its embarrassing to leave some of them from team selection....like Praveen Kumar (T20 final hero) /sreesanth/P.Ojha and few others..
This team can give some competition. 1.M.Prior 2.L.Wright 3.I.Bell 4.K.Pieterson 5.A.Flintoff 6.P.Collingwood 7.R.Bopara 8.S. Patel 9.J.Anderson 10.S.Broad 11.R.Sidebottom
Re: England should try......
by Kirit Shah on Nov 19, 2008 06:25 PM
One Sidebottom in team and M.Prior at No.7 and Bopara at No.2 or 3.....and then...see difference..
It is wonderful thing that Yuvraj Singh considered SAURAV ( INDIA'S GAURAV ) GANGULY as his GURU and mentor , but I think Sachin Tendulkar has to take some tips from Yuvraj Singh regarding his batting, tackling pressures in key matches and for winning trophies onehandedly on only oneself, especially in finals without ducks, after playing more than 20 years in international cricket. Atleast for One Day Internationals, Sachin Tendulkar is not a necessity, but obstacle, especially through his massive ducks in semifinals and finals.

117 & 91 against Aus in the Commonwealth Bank Series was definitely an obstacle - to the Aussies!

Add to that his average of 53 (approx) in Tournament Finals, and his 5 centuries in Tournament Finals all of which came in winning cause.
Re: YUVI = THE ONE MAN SHOW
by Debashis Banerjee on Nov 19, 2008 07:00 PM
For glorifying Ganguly / Yuvi you dont have to undermine Tendulkar. Sachin is one of the greatest cricketers this game has ever produced in its history. His greatness is unparallel. I wonder whether India will have to wait for another century to produce a player of his calibre. Yuvi is good but still a kid.

Are you mad? It is like comparing Miloslav Mecir with a Pete Sampras. The former was a magician but an eccentric who could one day win but lose the very next day without a trace of any magic. The second one was a true champion
