I sure hope he knows what he's asking for. Teams like the aussies, south africans who depend heavily on pace will forever be under immense pressure. With 4 pacers in the team, I doubt whether they can bowl with the full run-up to maintain the over rates.

Asian teams and to a certain extent NZ meet the over-rate requirements even now. With severe penalties, one will not see the joyous sight of a fast bowler steaming in and bowl his thunderbolts (though Akhtar is almost finished now & Lee is on the downward slide). At full flow, a pacer takes anywhere between 4 to 6 minutes to comlete an over assuming the ball returns to him quickly.Thats about 10 to 12 overs an hour. A far cry from the required rate under the present rules.

Either the aussies get the rules amended to suit their bowlers OR accept severe penalties ... Mr. Sutherland, what is it gonna be??
