Ponting is right here........
by Anurag Rathore on Nov 13, 2008 10:15 AM

We have seen the dispute between BCCI and Srilankan cricket board. Some players of Srilanka can't play in test series against England because they have to play in IPL. BCCI is forcing them. That tour has cancelled now. It's not good for test cricket.

Aussie domination will end cricket itself
by arul m on Nov 13, 2008 01:08 AM

Aussies obsession with wins have made to dive deep into murky water. They have always had match referees and Umpires on their side, steve bucknor and benson did not wear the baggy green, that is the only consolation. So it was play-on with one team with 13 and another with 11. To claim each of top order batsmen indian bowlers have to get them out twice over. Symmonds will play for 9 innings within one. TRAVESTY of JUStice. Later came to IPL auction, naturally, he did not go at all at the auction, leater was sold at paltry sum as compared to rookie starts like Ishant or Dhoni. Did not play well in the series, mow badmouting it. I'n sure ricky will be first in line when next year auction starts at IPL, then his views on IPL will be known for or against, depending on how much team owners fork out

He is diverting attention of Media from Series Loss and Poor Form

Its nothing but his plan to divert attention of Media from Series Loss and Poor Form... He only requested ICC in the beginning of the year to find a Window in ICC Calender for IPL...

5 days of play is too much now a days. we should sideline test and start promoting shorter versions of the game. in todays day and age, time is an important criteria and we cant afford to watch a game for 5 days.indeed test matches are the real test for the crickets to judge there performances.

Who cares....

Test cricket is not something the next generation is willing to watch. Also these tour of one country to other wont make sense either. Either world cup or club cricket involving stars or group of countries - triangular, quadrangular, whatever. Obviously this cant be of 5 days a match. Live up to facts, Titanic is sinking and is destined to.

want to retain the captaincy even on poor form

The comments form Pointing about IPL and Twenty20 indicates that after tremendous pressure from Australian Cricket Board after the high margin defeat from India and all this he is trying just not to be dumped from the Aussies team .

Huh Ponting lost one series and u think they should sack him?He has won 2 wcups without losing a single game and has been leading the winning team until this series,if u want him sacked ur the one who is jealous and stupid...then how about sacking ur so called great batsmen for flopping in the series against a Rookie called Ajantha Mendis?if thats a one off thing then this one is too...Ponting averages about 60 everywhere except India,so no big deal...everyone has some weakness....

He is right. The instant cricket if extended would difinitely ruin cricket and its value. IPL is OK if played for one month in a year but remaining eleven months should be reserved for ODIs and Tests. Each Country shall play at least 15 test matchs in a year. You will get best talents only from Test Cricket. In fact ever since 20-20 has been introduced the charm is gone from cricket. Players like Yusuf Pathan, Robin Uthappa are products of 20-20 but they can never dream of getting in to a Test team!

it is wrong to say Robin Uthappa can't play in test. when did he get chance. most of all players play ranaji in inida and people who scored over 1000 in years get chance to play india. Robin Uthappa played for karanataka and scored over 1600 twice in three years. he has scored over 10 century in first class matches. Unless we give chance, we can't find another gautham gambir. selector still stick to out of form dravid for last 2 years. what a shame. in my opinion, rohit, rana should get chance to play for test.

May be, but why did he change his statement after series loss ? Why not before joining IPL ? Why not while playing IPL ? Why not after IPL ????

He is diverting attention of Media and world after series loss and poor form.....

Ponting is a fine fine batsman & what he said here is absolutely correct...think if u r a true cricket lover...test cricket should be there, otherwise the charm of the game ll be lost...mind u, charm is not only hitting sixes & fours...

This will not happen
by Vinal Gandhi on Nov 12, 2008 02:44 PM  | Hide replies

The fears expressed by Ponting are as good as his sportsman spirit- Non existant! Had that been the case, then how come Club football and Country based football still survivie and thrive together? Let ICC open a proper and exclusive window not only for IPL but for all country based IPL like tournaments and the balance be left for Tests and ODIs. When ODIs became popular, people were openly predicting Test Cricket's demise. It never happened. Similarly 20-20 will not kill Tests and ODIs. Rather then worrying about such things, Ponting should start worrying about himself!

Football is not played for the length of time the cricket is played. You should not compare these two games. How can you say shorter version does not kill test?
