srikanth as selector
by purush on Nov 18, 2008 10:19 AM  | Hide replies

come one guys ,srikant has chosen dravid and supports him because he is a class player..moreover he is just having a bad year like any other cricketor in their life cycle..
M.Vijay has been performing really well in the domestic circuit ,and so badrinath is still performing well in ranji and so did he in the INDIA A team..
how many players from the south are there in the current ODI team? how can u call this regional bias? lots of class players are still in que mate...dont make this chat room a regional fighting session, we all are indians and all state is important to u ..
not like north india and south indian, west indian, east india ,thats bullshit..
pls look into stats before u comment dude,,

and moreover srikanth is a hitter like sehwag ,not known for consistency like dravid .he is one of the earliest guys who started big hitting within 15 overs ,which sri lanka followed during 1996 world cup and now the whole world.
if it was regionalism,, then what do u call for vengsarkar openly kicking out ganguly inspite of his good form??
hehe ,, u r ridiculous wihange bendre

I would rather see Rohit Sharma in this team than Rahul Dravid. RP and others can be standbys in case of injuries. Cheteshwar Pujara should be gradually blooded in the international arena. Our selectors are known to discard players, especially newcomers on the basis of just a couple of (so called) failures.

I am also sceptical of having VVS in the ODI team if only because of his very poor running between the wickets. He, however, must be in the test team. Rahul certainly needs a break from the game for a few weeks. He can always get in the team on the basis of his class alone, but he needs to get away and analyse his failures during the Aussies tour.

SRIKANT IS A BUFFOON
by rambo only on Nov 13, 2008 08:04 AM

Speaking about Dravid gaining form against England, Srikant has displayed his traits which were visible when he played for India. For example :
- No Consistency
- No method in batting
- No technique
- No mental toughness (like Gavaskar, Kapil, Mohinder, etc.)
- Just see him twitching his nose, touching his pads, touching his helmet before every delivery - showed his nervousness.

How can he be appointed as Chief Selector- Regionalism Quota in action ?
Now he is paying back to South Region - First M. Vijay , now backing Dravid . The difference in current form of Ganguly and Dravid is Crstal clear. But Saurav is forced to go and Dravid continues. Hail Regionalism .

what a shame, selector selecting dravid again for eng test
by padman on Nov 13, 2008 07:50 AM

NEW DELHI: During his illustrious career as a swashbuckling opener, Krish Srikkanth always played his strokes with flair and audacity. Today, as
chairman of the BCCI selection committee, he hasn't changed a bit. He retains his style. The former Indian captain spoke to TOI after India won the home series against Australia. Excerpts:

Are you worried about Rahul Dravid's form?

Not really. He may not have big scores in his last couple of innings. But it's only a matter of time. Dravid is an extraordinary player. He got off to a good start twice in the series but couldn't transform them into big ones. I am quite confident that he will play some extraordinary innings against England.

new sensation on the ckt field
by vinay on Nov 12, 2008 11:56 PM

"Triple-centuries seem to come by every other game for Cheteshwar Pujara...scored two in one week last month in the CK Nayudu Under-22 tournament, and then to become the first Saurashtra batsman to make a triple ton in ranji trophy. His partner in the run-fest, Ravindra Jadeja, scored his maiden century, ending unbeaten on 232. The unbroken fifth-wicket stand worth 520 runs, the second-best partnership in Indian cricket - after Vijay Hazare and Gul Mahomed's 577-run stand for Baroda against Holkar in 1946-47 - and the highest fifth-wicket partnership in any first-class cricket, beating the unbroken 464-run stand between the Waugh twins for New South Wales against in 1990-91." cricinfo.

this youngster pujara seems to b a talented batsman with the huge hunger of playing long innings. he was man of the series of the junior world cup 2006, n now is riding high with 3 triple centuries within just 20 days. astonishing is the only word, that comes for him. 308 runs of 421 balls. keep it up.

i hope srikanth vl look at his consistent performances, as he is known to acknowledge performances n talent just like m vijay.

Sidebottom........
by Anurag Rathore on Nov 12, 2008 02:13 PM

He should prepare to face the music of indian batsman. Many great fast bowlers have struggled in subcontinent. In this series Sidebottom will find himself helpless. He should see towards Lee, M.Jhonson and S.Clark(with good line and length), what they did in India?
