Symonds-Laxman

Symonds Laxman = 2nd last rank ( or was it last ) in IPL

Laxman's dropped catches = How many runns to opposition?

Wristy Play - Was invented by Vishy and perfected by Azhar

The famous Kolkata win - yes VVS did contribute big time but the win happened because of 3 wickets by Sachin in post tea session. But for those wickets, it would have been just a highest score by Inidan batsman at that point of time.

All of the above are not wishy washy opinions, they are just ahrd facts.

Cheers

Sachin's main job is to score runs and not take wickets. If he took 3 wickets it was nothing great. Even Ganguly used to take wickets. Sehwag & Yuvraj also take wickets. Laksman has also bowled on occasions.
As far as IPL is concerned, every cricket fan knows that Lakshman is not a hard hitter. That is why he is not in the ODI or 20-20 side. But why did Sahcin's Mumbai lose out to a rookie Rajasthan Royals despite the best and most hard-htting batsman being in this team?
Laksman has a better record against the best team Australia than Sachin against the world's best team. And this is not wishy washy opinion. His innings in Kolkata is rated by cricket pundits as among the 10 best ever. Your immature wishy-washy opinion does not count at all.

new sensation on the ckt field
by vinay on Nov 13, 2008 12:25 AM  | Hide replies

"Triple-centuries seem to come by every other game for Cheteshwar Pujara...scored two in one week last month in the CK Nayudu Under-22 tournament, and then to become the first Saurashtra batsman to make a triple ton in ranji trophy. His partner in the run-fest, Ravindra Jadeja, scored his maiden century, ending unbeaten on 232. The unbroken fifth-wicket stand worth 520 runs, the second-best partnership in Indian cricket - after Vijay Hazare and Gul Mahomed's 577-run stand for Baroda against Holkar in 1946-47 - and the highest fifth-wicket partnership in any first-class cricket, beating the unbroken 464-run stand between the Waugh twins for New South Wales against in 1990-91." cricinfo.

this youngster pujara seems to b a talented batsman with the huge hunger of playing long innings. he was man of the series of the junior world cup 2006, n now is riding high with 3 triple centuries within just 20 days. astonishing is the only word, that comes for him. 308 runs of 421 balls. keep it up.

i hope srikanth vl look at his consistent performances, as he is known to acknowledge performances n talent just like m vijay.

No player with talent is ignored. Cricket India with all its evils is pretty democratic. Otherwise, we would have been like Zimbabwe. Pujara will definitely get his due soon. It does not need a Srikkant to bring him in. If his continues to perform as well as he is doing he will be in the team automatically before long.

Laxman was always a shy personality
by Drivo on Nov 12, 2008 08:43 PM  | Hide replies

Laxman was my junior at Little Flower High School in Hyderabad. He was always a very shy person and was our opening bowler. He was not poplar for his bating in those days.

one thing is true,he never gets the reward for his hardwork for indian cricket. reason is he is not aggressive and flamboyant like others, beside he always value team more than his personel gains

I love one of the great shot of Laxman which he just twisting wrist flick to a wonderfull ondrive going along the green grass bisecting 3 on side fielders .The ball goes like a rocket to the boundary .This shot looks like a poet Laxman writing a poem on the cricket field .

Yeah you two bozos think, Symonds needs VVS to get him a spot in IPL. Symonds is valued so much more as a 20/20 player, he does not need VVS (who might lose his spot on the team).

I think you need counselling.
Laxman is no longer the captain of IPL. Apart from that, your tendency of finding a reason for any appreciation needs correction. In this world everything is not done with an expectation.
