I sympathise Ponting
by Orient Mystique on Nov 12, 2008 01:06 PM  | Hide replies

Many people will say many things but I am steadfast in my support to Ponting as captain.

He is certainly one of the top batsmen of the world today and by the time he hangs up his boots, he has every chance to overhaul every record as far as batting is concerned. He can only be considered a player of lesser value, compared to his compatriots Jayasuria and Kallis and none else, because those two contributed with their bowling too.

It is squarely the fault of the CA (Cricket Australia) administration, who failed miserably to see through the future, by anticipating the exit of many players within a short span, like Steve Waugh, McGrath, Warne, Martyn, Langer, Gilchrist, Gillespie etc.

One couldn't understand why CA should consider Nathen Bracken as an ODI specialist and not include him in the test side for India's tour while preferring unknown names and inefficient ones.

It is common sense to understand that a captain is only as good as his team and the only value addition he can do is to contribute with strategies, use of available resources etc.

People talk about the failure of Ponting, but what about the failure of Bret Lee the bowler, Michael Clarke the batsman, Hayden the batsman which added to the team's problems?

If Aussies are to remain undisputed world leaders, CA will have to stop inducting players when they are past 30 but include players atleast by the time they are 23-24.

Why all these days Ponting has been praised for his captainship? We should simply say since the team members ahve performed thats why he was successful..

If team wins captain will be hailed as a great captain. Like Dhoni is getting all the praises now..else he will be criticised.

When ponting took all the praises now he has to accept all the criticisms too..

Punter become scape goat
by Pokala Rao on Nov 12, 2008 12:29 PM  | Hide replies

Yes, for this entire dramatic failure of Australians, Ricky has been made as a scapegoat. I believe CA has to blame themselves for not forcing Steve Buckner as an Umpire who saved Australia many times and he only made Australians a champion team with his chaotic umpiring skills. Now, they have to put pressure on ICC to pull back Buckner as one of the standing umpires in every match they play against the world’s best teams.

Good Joke
by JeyaGanesh D on Nov 12, 2008 10:26 AM

This was a good joke by Ponting. Here is a man, who sacrificed victory in Nagpur test for not missing New Zealand series. I think, Ponting hopes that New Zealand is not that good and can get close to Sachin's century records if he can play all the four innings and thats the reason behind him to use slow bowlers to up the tempo.

It will happen. M Hussey will be new captain after this Nov-Dec australian season.

Current Aus team was one united till the time Symond fiasco happened. It has lot to do with IPL money disparity that came in.

M Clarke choose not to play IPL... symond got the best deal... Gilchrist retired because he also got good money... Pointing's 400K was disapointing... Hussy brothers got good deals as well...

Money has split the team with two more IPL season remaining.

M Clarke is clearly wrong choice for future captain... Hussy brothers will rule the future of Aus cricket

Gilly didn't retire because of IPL, he was facing so much criticism in his country from long time because of his bad form. So he decided to retire.

Come on... Like Hurbhajan said 'Gilly is not a saint'... He really isn't....

They get the money pro-rated based on no of matches played... so even if Symond received best deal.... it is Gilly who would have pocked most money in first IPL season...

I wonder , if symond went fishing for very same reason...Play more IPL matches in 2nd season

Vinay, You're right. The Aussie are here to play Cricket and not harras and verbally abuse a guy who is out there playing for his country.

Hey if he retaliated on his own way. Now he barely touch Watsons belly..wow. what a violent physical contact!!! Big Deal..lol

Hey if had slapped or pushed watson to the ground, sure he desreve the serios punishment.

This thing was blown out of proportion and poor Gambhir got all blame and the real culprit Katich and Watson escapped..

come on cut gambhir a slack ,will u? That was all part of the game. Who knows, they might be talking bad about his mom or sister or something. I agree with the fact that, he could've been smart and said something verbal than physical abuse.

Anyway, all i say is stop being soooooo..........nice n all that, i don't think thats gonna work out very well. we need to tough it up a lil' bit atleast once in a while and let rest of the world know we can be tough too

if he did only with aussies it makes sense, but he has prior history of being a rowdy on field..see youtube for that afridi incident ull know for urself....

i agree with dhose. watson obstructed gambhir by purposely putting his arm while gambhir was taking the single. luckilly gambhir didnt get physical contact.
however, while returning for the second run, gambhir didnt bother to get away from the line of the bolr. n watson had some reason to cry.

agreed. but y do u forget watson, for his mischiefs, when he instigated gambhir, but still was left with meagre punishment of 10%(?) fine.

if u show impartiality in ur then the frustration vl lead to situation like this.

its not the fault of gambhir but of the biased icc who is only taking side of cheater whites like ausiss n also the fault of bcci who is not doing anything against biased punishment against indians.

Even watson did mischief, Gautam can answer by doing more runs then elbowing. If he is going to do that again, Indian can forget easily when he will be banned from all form cricket. If want to get good name as like Sachin, then he have to behave like that only. These are part of game but physical contact cant be part of game.

yes. it was also a mistake of gambhir but these disgusting ausis must b checked somewhere. if not by icc, then by us, by boycotting their game.
may b v can ban all the matches involving ausis when they play at their home series against nz, eng, etc. so as to gv them a lesson. (assuming that many ind watch ausis matches with a lot of interest, though ind is not a part of it). this way, the tv channels vl force them to control them.
