Why next to Kapil..what was Kapils contribution as a Captain(No doubt he is the best bowler India produced) (other then winning 1983 World cup , which makes Cricket popular in India but doe not transer Indian team as a good team )..But Dada has chnaged the way India play Cricket and its not for a Series but for future generation and we can see teh results now..
He was the greatest captain from India and his efforts and belief in youngsters will keep India a team to beat for next few years. He sacrificed his opening slot in one dayers for Shewag, who still averages only 32 in onedayers. Had he continued playing opener, his average and centuries and match winning knocks would have been much much more

we know indian players are real hero but fate in the the name of politics and other countries intruding plays a lot on our team oun real heros not only to know play a good cricket but to know to tacle externel problems say for example kiren moore has not played as much as ganguly not having good record more than ganguly but become the key man to oost gangully out oif the team. its like a cancer one day all real players in the hands of sub qualified selectors will washed away from the team and intrudors will dominate the team .we respect the real players and see that the real sprit of the game will be protected from the less qualified selectors.
dada no comparison in ny form of life he is real character who can always have success in ny time of life one of the best person ever seen in indian history hats off to him and a salute to prince....... of india
Re: Gavaskar on Ganguly

well said ..Gavaskar is a great Player as an Individual but could not able to lift Indian Cricket as a whole....same story always everyone is getting out and Gavskar is struggling to make a Test Draw......
But Ganguly has shown how India can win a Test....No comparision between them one is a great by his own and the other is a real leader who has many followers...
In the light of what these Sri Lankan cricketers have said Gavaskar has indeed demeaned himself by downgrading Sourav's achievements. Indian cricketers are a bickering lot and Gavaskar surpasses them all. Gavaskar in fact lowered spirit of cricket on many occasions in order to pursue his personal agenda. Imagine he would not leave the ground and squatted with his bat between the legs because he would have to complete his century nearing the fag end of the 5th day when the opponent had left the field since there was nothing hopefull in the match. Gavaskar had again once walked off the field in Australia taking along with him Srikant because he was no comfortable out in the middle against the Aussies. He had again avoided touring the Windies when he was captain, because he knew that he would have face volleys of bouncers from the Windies as he had made nasty, racal and uncivilized remarks against the Windies. Sunny has all along been jealous of Kapil and anyone who would excel in equal measure or perhaps more to overshadow him. Gavaskar even machinated to keep Kapil out in one test. He has surpassed others in meanness. It is high time he shut up after he has been eased out of the ICC Panel lately.
India could have benefited a great deal more from Ganguly's continued presence in Team India but for the personal animosity of some stupid selectors, who took Dada's assertion as a personal affront. India lost a great deal because of these small minded selectors. Being a decent man, Dada, in the final analysis, towered over all these pigmies. GOI is always in the habit of awarding Bharat Ratna and other awards either posthumously or only to those tottering in their late eighties/ nineties. For once, the can wake up early and award it to Ganguly as a token of its appre- ciation.

Ganguly, and Bharat Ratna ? If Bharat Ratna has to be given to a sportsman, won't it be given first to Vishwanathan Anand ? And if it has to be given to any cricketer, won't it be given to greats from the past like Gavaskar and Kapil Dev. And even if it have to be given to any cricketer from the modern era, won't it be given to Tendulkar, before Ganguly ?

Respect and honor Ganguly for his rich contributions for Indian cricket. Adore him as much as you can. But please don't make ridiculous claims which sounds more like making fun of him.

I agree with u ...from cricketers if any one derserve then he is Tendulkar....But Ganguly should be ahead of Kapil and Gavaskar......because they r individual greats but could not trnafer this to develop a Team India....but Ganguly did that he changed the way India play cricket and we found teh secret of Wining.....
