Here I see there are some great cricket knowledges - raza, vsgiri, guest, and may be other half of the world - are after Ganguly. By giving idiotic statistics or monotonous logic they are hell bent to malign him. They also say they are Indians. At a place Raza wrote he cannot comment because it is played in the time of match-fixing but alas HE CANNOT ALSO SAY THAT GANGULY WAS IN THAT FIXING SCANDAL.....If that smell was there just imagine what these creeps would have done? i think "Dada " has layed a great role in both version of the game. His tenure as a captain is really the peak level of Indian cricket. It is he who promotes the young cricketer(Yuvraj, HJarbajan, Sehwag...). He always try to give them a chance to prove theirself. Today the players we have and who are match winner are the gift of this man. YUes, it is true that when he is in bad patch of his cricktering career all people including me wants him to quit but at this poin of time i am emotionally want him to continue for some more time but the true thing is that it the right time and he shoukd get a good farewell from all i.e BCCI
I think because of ganguly we see a strong indian team today. He took over captaincy at a time when nobody was ready to do it and built a team which has learnt to win matches abroad.
Before series against australia india had a dismal record of losing almost all the test matches in australia and he came out with series draw (in sydney test had we taken 2 wickets we would have been first tem to win series in australia against australia). Moreover, team was much stronger that current aussie team. He took india to the world cup final. he was the first one to advocate for young players and nurtured Yuvraj,Bhajji, Zaheer, irfan, Dhoni etc.
