Saurav has been India's greatest captain ever and one of the best cricketing brains. During his leadership, he handled all aspects of the game with deftness. However, his greatest undoing was bringing high=figh Greg Chappel as coach. A strong captain was an impediment in Chappel's scheme of things, while a weak and amicable captain suited him well. Consequently, in came Dravid and Ganguly was shunted out.
Had Sourav not staged a come back, we could never have known the fighter still active in him. I solute him heartily and wish all the best for for a new off-field cricketing career.
Sourav, you were the first captain who looked like a fighter on the cricket field. You proved that we are second to none. We all love you and salute you. We may take retirement from inernational cricket but your fighting spirit will always inspire the Indian cricket team and millions of your fans.
Unfortunate it is but yet it is. Saurav will end his international career with this test match. All we can hope for him is that he outscores all in this match with bat and even if given a chance with the ball too. What he has given to Indian cricket is something extra ordinary because he never went for his personal records but always wanted to build a team with full of aggression. No doubt he is the most successful skipper with wins all over. He gave us the recent breed of players and mind you he caught them all young. He has been under pressure from all sections as if he was a hurdle to all. We all know about the past and about BCCIs ill treatment under Mr.More. Still this modest person was to say nothing against them. Though being the most prolific run-getter last year he was not recognised rather was given a promotion by allowing him not to play the Irani Trophy as well as other crucial matches. He was a commander in himself and moved ahead with all odds following him. He did the right thing by calling it a day but I personally felt that he should have done this much before to uphold more of his dignity which undoubtedly still exists with flying colors. Bye Saurav..we will miss you.
