Gambhir Ban
by Rishi Sharma on Nov 06, 2008 05:28 PM

I think Gambhir's ban is justified, he has repeated this offence as in the past he had done the same to Afridi. If he was being sledged he should have just sledged back and he was doing even better by scoring more runs against the aussies who had no clue how to get him out. He was in a great form and he should learn to let his bat do all the talking instead of the shoulder. He would have hurt the aussies more by playing the Nagput test and scoring another big hundred. Agression is great and good but what he did was stupid hopefully for Indian cricket he shall learn from this. We should stop complaining about ICC's attitude clearly this time we were at fault.

Australians are rogues and liars
by mercury on Nov 05, 2008 11:17 PM

It is an open secret. These are pre-decided steps in a pre-decided conspiracy. The steps are:-
1. Provoke a key player from Indian side by sledging, gimmicks, abuses, actions.
2. Harass the Indian player to the extent that he will be compelled to react.
3. Complain about the Indian player even though the Indian player shows big heart and does not complain himself.
4. The matter goes to a WHITE referee who lets off the provoking Australians with a minor penalty but hangs a good Indian player.
5. The Indian player goes into appeal. The appelate judge is again a WHITE judge who rejects the appeal without hearing!

BCCI should know now that rogues understand the language of rogues only. Showing gentlemanly behaviour with these white Australians is useless here. BCCI should defy ICC. And if this hapens, Australians will chose following pre-decided course:-

1. The Australians will keep telling their side, completely neglecting Indian side even if right.

2. Australians will come out one by one telling that they are Saints and the only saints!

3. Some paltry Gilchrist or Watson will write a book containing false things about Indian players.

4. Australian media will highlight such contents and will give them worldwide publicity.

Can't Indians be superior to them in this type of politics too? They need a coach for this.

ban playing nagpur test
by vinay on Nov 05, 2008 11:06 PM  | Hide replies

this bcci is a useless body.

the whole team ind shud protest against playing nagpur test as gambhir has been selectively targeted by icc nd not even given a fair chance of appeal. the referee broad is a known ind basher.
v forgot now how v dealt the issue of ban against a newcome sehwag when v were in south africa.
playing ausis inspite of such a humiliating action against gambhir when watson, the person responsible for abetting him enjoys his tour is disgusting.

its the policy of ausis to irritate indians n others but if v retaliate, then icc is sitting just to catch hold of us. they r always on their toes just waiting for some minor issues to target us.

the issue of slater-dravid is still a fresh one. slater was not penalised in spite of his misbehaviour. after one week of the incident, when he boasted of his behaviour in the media, icc came to 'reprimand' him to behave properly (i.e. in the media and doesnt imply to behave properly on the field).

for how much shud v tolerate this?

Gambir

It is very sad that ICC has not allowed his appealto be heard. This is a total injustice to Gautam Ghambir. And why is it that only the Indian players get the penalty. Is it not very evident from the video plays and replays of the match that it is Shane Watson who is instigating, bad mouthing, coming in the way of Gautam Gambhir? Is this a fairplay? Is ICC "colour" coded? Both Chris Broad and the ICC officials are "blind". Why can't they pull up Shane Watson and Simon Katich. Why can't they respect a player of the opposition who is playing well?

This dual yardstick must be stopped and all the players, who wrong, must be punished. Gambhir was taking the second run, and Shane Watson was obstructing his run.

BCCI MUST TAKE THIS CASE VERY STRONGLY WITH ICC.

Gambir deserves. He need to know he is not representing his family team against Aussies. Its a lesson to others too. Better behave oneself when you represent a country, your motherland

There wasn't a slight mention of the fact that Gambhir was constantly sledged all day, abused, shoulder barged and the rest, upon which he reacted.

There is no mention of the fact that the Australians would have reacted even more strongly than the BCCI did, and I personally believe that the BCCI has done very little compared to what they could.

There is no mention of the fact that Watson shoulder charged Gambhir.

There is no mention of the amount of abuses Katich threw at Gambhir before this incident.

There is no mention of the fact that the umpires did a shoddy job by not warning both captains when the chitchat continued.

I believe it was a deliberate attempt by the Aussies to target one man, Gambhir as it turned out, and stir up a response. How even our journalists are falling prey like lame ducks!

Not wholly but partially fair decision by ICC on Gambhir ban.
by argha bhar on Nov 05, 2008 06:10 PM  | Hide replies

I must say that Gambhir elbowing Watson was totally wrong. This is cricket not Kabaddi. He has received just rewards for his mal-behaviour. However, Watson himselfy provoked Gautam for such an act of utter stupidity and ran away with a 10% Fee deduction!!! Lucky for Watto!!! Gambhir is nearing his peak and such things will only help him to become a better behaved player. I always felt that the ban was too harsh but a 100% match fee deduction would have been ideal.. But, nonetheless, All's well that ends well. Hope Gambhir keeps his elbow away from opposition players and keeps his hands firmly on the bat and keep on scoring the runs. Anyways, Gambhir looks nowhere near to hurting Watson who is far more stronger and fitter!!!

with this kind of support of icc ban, gambhir vl lose interest in raising his elbow even while batting, n lose his wkt at the drop of a hat.
