antigua match
by sriram ambalavanan on Nov 03, 2008 06:03 PM

sachin rightly pointed out the antigua match... i still have the paper clipping of that match and anil kumble at that time had a bandaged jaw... everyone suggested he should not bowl as things could get misplaced.... but he came and bowled his heart out... though we were not able to win the match, lara was out and Kumble did his best.... he is one of the best team mans like rahul and sachin... though the other two are more famous because they are batters.... kumble also handled the last australian tour pretty well.... " only one team paid with fairness " was one of the best satements in cricket history...

It really takes time to get quality greats like Fab-5, Kumble, Sachin, Dravid, Sourav and Laxman

Let us stick to Kumble
by Tushar Sakhalkar on Nov 03, 2008 05:12 PM

Unfortunately self-declared xricet experts on this forum are missing a point. The news item is about Sacnin-Dravid's views on Ku,ble's retirement...
In spite of being called a-spinner-who-does-not-spin-ball, Anil Kumble proved to the world, you need not spin the ball sideways to get wickets. Hatd working, ever studious, ever improving, throrough gentleman and EVER A TEAM MAN..... Kudos to the man who achived so much.
I wonder what would have happened in Australia during last series downunder if it was another Captain.... Anil proved his mettle by showing immense control over emotions and taking right (may not be people pleasing) stand to keep Indian heads high.
Good Luck Anil......Let us hope we see you again in another role to inspire one more generation.

anil kuble ,the legend
by ramgopal on Nov 03, 2008 03:53 PM

Everygreat thing has to end. So is Anil kumble's call it Quits. Greatest Cricketer after Kapil Dev, and a true match winner, unsung hero, he is responsible for making some players great indian captains. A truly unsung Hero in Indian Cricket. Stop bla bla about Dhoni , his career would end in another2 years, as he is donning indian captaincy. Most difficult thing is to don indian captaincy.
