great loss but expected one sooner or later
by debarshi on Nov 02, 2008 04:55 PM

Kumble puts off his shoes also at the end , salute to him after giving the relentless, non controversial service to the country for so long. He was a definitly greatest match winner india has ever had. After Sourav Ganguly this decision comes in very short notice, but perhaps this was expected now or in few months. So the rest remains the giant 3 , in 1-2 years they will also retire, creating a huge emptyness of experience in indian cricket. Hopefully by that time few others will take the charge. Nonetheless, Kumble deserves extra praise to annouce his retirement in time. Only Gavaskar and Sourav have done that to retire when in goo form.

Great Jumboo
by sushil kumar jadhav on Nov 02, 2008 04:48 PM

The expected news of retirement of JUMBOO is arrived at last. What a fine player he is. he has contributed a lot to Indian cricket and I am sure will continue in either of ways even after retirement. He hardly has been in any controversy on feild or off feild. He answered his critics with his performance. A match winer bowler, he set standards for likes of Harbhajan and other young spinners. Besides a great player he was a great fighter, remember his dicision to continue to play after being hit seriously on jaw in West Indies tour, or the recent performance in Kotla test he bowled and took three wickets with 12 stitches on little finger of the left hand. he was the true reprentative of Indian spin department for last 18 years. Hats of to you Kumble and please help us to find and create a new young legspinner like you. Wish you best of luck from all Indian cricket fans
