Why Delhi Lost
by Raj Thackeray on May 31, 2008 07:54 PM  | Hide replies

Delhi have their captain to blame for most of the matches they lost especially the semi-final. Shewag is too casual in his approach. He is inconsistent, does not have a strategy for anything, and depends entirely on playing "his natural game". His natural game is nothing but swing the bat, belt the ball, hit it as hard as one can, do not bat according to the match situation and buy time in the squad on the basis of his once in a blue moon performance. Soon he will be going down along the Afridi way. If he had been an Australian cricketer he would not have found any place in the test or domestic squads. By the way I am very sick of this term "natural game". Even after playing so many years he commits the same mistake over and over again. Naturally its all because of his "natural game".

you are right.
There is a difference between CARE-FREE attitude and CARE-LESS Attitude.

Sehwag has care-less attitude.

Man, this is the same guy who's the only one other than Bradman to hit a couple of triple(Both of them were against fine bowling attacks) hundreds in test matches & his last 10 odd centuries have all been 150 scores. A few years back on an NZ tour when Daryll Tuffey was a terror & all our so-called greats ended up with a string of single digit scores it was Sehwag whop pulled back a couple of games for India & helped himself to a couple of centuries. Thanks for the great insight you have given that he's a mediocre player. We certainly can do with more such mediocre players.

SEWHAG WAS A MEDIOCRE PLAYER WHO THRIVED ON HIS LUCK FACTOR RATHER THAN TALENT. EVEN WHILE IN FORM, HE COULD BELT THE BOLWERS ONLY ON SUB-CONTINENT PITCHES.
BEFORE WORLD CUP-2007 HE DID NOT SCORE IN 40-50 MATCHES BUT WAS STILL PICKED FOR THE WORLD CUP. SAME IS THE CASE WITH TENDULKAR, DRAVID, GANGULY ETC. THEY HAVE NOT PERFORMED FOR THE PAST 4-5 YEARS, BUT STILL WANT TO PLAY FOR ANOTHER 2 WORLD CUPS.
THIS IS BECAUSE OF THEIR INFLUENCE WITH THE BCCI, USELESS COMMENTATORS LIKE GAVASKAR,JADEJA, SIDDHU ETC WHO WILL BARK FOR ANYTHING.

Mr. Bajaj You said tendulkar, ganguly did not perform from last 4 - 5 years. Agreed that you have a good memory.. from my poor memory i can recollect Ganguly was man of the series against South africa just before australian tour. And sachins batting in australian tour is well apreciated.. just look at the stats.. And are these things happened 4-5 years ago?
hope you have a reply

Kick all 3 out of our team . And see How youngsters win us matches
by Sohail Khan on May 31, 2008 07:49 PM  | Hide replies

Don't you think its the best example that the 3 old uncles from our Indian team should retire from all forms of games.

All 3 :

Sachin Tendulkar (Mumbai)
Savrav Ganguly (Kolkatta)
Rahul Dravid (Banglore)

Just made millions from IPL but could not even get their sides to the semi finals.

We Indians have so short memory that just because of 1 good inning in 10 innings we forget their majority of failures.

So all 3 just FO and make room for youngsters.

There are toooo many of them waiting for their chances

WRONG! Individuals alone cannot take a team to finals... Ponting alone doesn't make Australia!

The trio may not have set the tournament on fire but they did contribute handsomely in patches. It's a new form and it's not been kind to everyone. Robin Uthapa, Manoj Tiwari, M Kaif and even Yuvraj have had a mediocre tournament. Shouldn't you be calling to drop them as well!

Moreover, you talking of short memory is the perfect oxymoron. These three (Tendulkar, Ganguly and Dravid) have bolstered India for so many years and have given us great moments of joy. They are in twilight part of their career but not a burden for sure. The board is there too to pick the right team, so leave it upto them then your silly outburst.

You are jealous of these players because they have defeated Pakis in Pak ..three times sinces 2004 which Azhar could not achieve even in his 10 years of Captaincy.. shameful.. in 50 years of cricket India defeated Pakis & won ODI & test series first time!!!
You are jealous due to that!!!

These four players have been very CUNNING. they avoided participation in all the doemstic competitions, like Ranji, Duleep, Deodhar trophies.

So no comparison could be made with new-upcoming talents.

In IPL when they were pitted against these new players, these SENIORS ARE FULLY EXPOSED.

So IPL should be eye-opener for all, including selectors, and sponsors who get these 4 selected regularly by dubious means.

Are you crazy or what? But Sohail Khan who admitted that he is an Indian. Sadly, some people still create Pak-Ind issues and pretend that muslims doesn't exist in India. Come on. I am pretty sure calling him Pakistan might be offending to him knowing that he is Indian who is born in India. Take the jealousy of Pak-Ind to somewhere. Beside, Pakistan still has beaten India many times in both format. Pakistan is still above India no matter what. Live with that

ALL THESE SHOULD HAVE BEEN RETIRED LONG BACK, ATLEAST 3-4 YEARS BACK. IPL HAS DONE A WONDERFUL THING IN EXPOSING THESE ORDINARY PLAYERS WHO WERE POTRAYED AS WORLD CLASS.

Sehwag's - wrong decision
by Srinivasan Iyer on May 31, 2008 07:30 PM

First, his decision to field was wrong. Second, his casual attitude as captain made him throw away his wicket. His much vaunted top three failed to perform. His bowlers were erratic.

There was no application ina ll departments of the game whereas the Royals palyed as a well knit team!

we can 't say like that. What i would like to tell is Yosuf pathan, Watson & Asnodkar & Smith.
These 4 are main culprit for winning the game. They have good consitency.

Other wise they also fallen in many matches.

The performance of Delhi Team is the true reflection of its captain, his attitude, approach and striking inconsistency. While all other teams who have qualified improved with every outing and relied on a decent start Delhi slipped with every game and its famed top order including Sehwag failed in match after match. This gross inconsistency is Sehwag's major characteristic strikingly evident in his career.
Instead of taking the blame himself and his in-form top order he is passing the buck to the middle order which has improved if anything with the progress of tournament.Who got victory over Mumbai and even in this match Dilshan was the highest scorer. Delhi has suffered mainly due to the recklessness of Sehwag and repeated failure by the entire top order. His captaincy and decisions leaves a lot to be desired and indeed he never had any plan to tackle various players and situations.Instead of recognising the need to build an innings and parternships like other successful teams he just goes about swinging his bat wildly and sets a poor example for his other top batsmen who follow suit throwing away their wickets and then has the cheeks to blame the middle order. He only displays poor personality and leadership traits apart from poor performance himself to let the team down.

He played his natural game, which is getting out on the third ball in every crunch situation. " Natural Game" is the nice excuse coined by Bhajan party (comprising of Ravi Sastry, Gavaskar etc) of people like Viru, Tendulkar to explain away their failures and to give them oppertunity to play failure after repeated failure denying any chance of representation by the multitude of the other talent we have seen in IPL. I wonder what is the natural game of Smith, Watson, Marsh even Asnodkar, Niraj Patel etc.

well, he was always a hit or miss- type player.,
so no wonder, he will continue to fail, and play some good knocks on dead pitches).
Such a player should never be captain. He was once vice captain of team inida. Think of the disaster, had he led india for some time.

Its easy to found mistake of others...is n't it..?

I don’t know whether it is right to write here b'cos everyone has his own feelings, but I personally feel ashamed when I heard such things for a person like t'dulkar who has given so much to Indian cricket. The youngsters who have grown watching t'dulkar playing and are in team due to him only are making comment on his caliber. There are so many peoples in the country who have bought their homes more than 39 crore than what is the harm if he does so..? Why there is so much noise for that..! even in 20-20 no one has shown consistent performance in youngsters except foreign players... but they are taking credibility by making such comments... t'dulkar has given 18 yrs to Indian cricket and other who have just into it they have become judges of this game..! these are those fans of sachin and indians who always want to see schin play and making comments on a person who has tortured his body for cricket and his fans only but now he is getting these comments...moreover every indian I think has forget that sachin who joined world cup right after the days of his father's expiry....? Have we become so much selfish…..? Its ok that fans have been dis-appointed by not reaching his team to the semis, but has he is the only person to take blame of all this? Had he played so bad…? It only a selfishness of the fans of sachin that they always want from him….may be anyone can think I m wrong but he is the person who has taken indian cricket to some height…!

cool buddy, i like saching to much, i love to see him playing bookish shot's, even i know that there is no one in this world at the moment who can play better than sachin. but buddy i never believe in him, i am sorry to say but he is not a match winner player, i have seen only few matches in which he contributed while chasing. he can set a huge target on the score board, but have no guts to chase and win the match if the score is 300 , so i don't consider his a match winning player, offcourse he is a class player, i have see match winner player such Ricky Pointing, Inzy, Washim Akram, Ganguly, Robin Singh, Grame Smith, Brain Lara, Sanath Jaysuria, and the list will keep on going.

so be cool and chill....no doubt he is a great entertainer in the matter of playing excellent shots.

Regards,
