SRK gave a lot fo money to him, for 2 or 3 matches... which he complained to be very less.. then he didnt deliver even 10% of expected... now he is against IPL.. also, dont forget the nonsenses he did during india's tour to australia...why we should believe in him?

He proves that form is Temporary,Class is Permanent. He is a Classic Player. He can Turn Around at any situation.
He can now be successful only against West Indies, Bangladesh etc. Not against Indian Bowlers whether In India & outside India , in his home country Australia, Indian bowlers can bowl him out cheaply

He was not as sucessful against indian bowlers in australia only this time round. He has scored many centuries and a double century against India in Australia. He has also scored heavily in SL against Murali and company. Ponting is a cricketer I personally dislike becos he is arrogant. But you cant deny he is one of the great batsmen of this era.

I won't rate him as one of the best of this era. And the simple reason for that is his poor ability against quality spin. he have struggled against quality spin throughout his career. To be rated as the best of an era, a player needs not to have any weaknesses. For ex, Brian Lara is rated as the best player of spin bowling by many spinners, same with Tendulkar. This is one weak point Ponting does have. But he is indeed a very good batsman though. If only he improves in his ability to tackle spin, he could come into the best of an era category.

Hello Dont forget Sachin was suffered too much to face bowlers like Abdul Razzaq,Chris Harris,Fanie Devilliersand Chamida Vaas.He is also has his own problems. How many times Brian Lara got out in d bowling of Mcgrath.

It's not about being dismissed by some bowlers. The point is that Ponting have particular weaknesses against the spin department. His failure to shine against quality spin is what separates him from Lara and Tendulkar. He is a very good batsman. But his below par performance against quality spin derives him from being called 'Great".

I agree Ponting is not in the class of tendulkar and lara. But the Lara and Tendulkar are all time greats and not just of this era. About spin. here are some interesting facts.. Ind, Pak and SL considered to have top quality spinners. Against PAK and SL at away games Ponting averages 63.73. these are matches played in subcontinent. His average agains india in india is the only blemish in his career.// which is a poor 12.28... i guess he can correct that this oct when australia tour india. Hoping he wont so that we can win ;-)

He cannot be in the league of Lara and Tendulkar.cos they never had any weaknesses.By improving his spin bowling ability he can be true GREAT .thats all
