NO reason for deccan chargers for loosing
by aseem gupta on May 14, 2008 04:07 PM

There should be no reason for deccan chargers to loose. Infact, loosing games by them needs more explanation than ideal t100 players of bangalore. Players like afridi, symmonds, Gibbs, Glichrist and rohit sharma are one of the worlds best t20 players, still underperforming. Also their bowling is strong with players like Vaas, RP Singh and bangar. I think the either players lack commitment towards the game or lack of leadership by laxman or Gilli. Rajasthan far below from par are outstanding in the series.

Why don't cricketers like Laxman, Dravid know their worth and place in the sun and avoid making fools of themselves in the T20 version?

We will now start knowing what is Tendulkar's real worth in T20....

DC owners are more polished than VM and SRK
by Rajnarain Gouda on May 14, 2008 01:33 PM  | Hide replies

It was a universal secret that when corporate houses bid to become franchise owners of IPL cricket teams, they did so to get maximum mileage for their own image, brand equity etc.

Hence it should have come as no surprise to the layman, much less to Rahul Dravid or Charu Sharma, when VM took them to task for non performance or performance below expectations.

SRK has proved himself to be cruder than VM, by justifying the throwing out of local talent from the hotel rooms to save a few pennies.

But one has to appreciate the refined manner in which DC owners have ensured that the ineffective VVS sits out for the rest of the tournament, when the reins of the team are handed over to the more experienced Gilly.

As a Hyderabadi, I hope that Gilly will use all his tact, professionalism and vast experience to extract best performances out of potential match winners like Afridi and Gibbs, alongwith playing to his own potential as an explosive opener.

RP Singh is already among the top 5 bowlers, Gilly is among the top 5 batsmen and what the team needs is self belief and cohesion together with a burning desire to win.

VVS is surely a great test batsman just like Rahul Dravid. But I sincerely feel that players like Sachin, Sourav, VVS, Dravid, Kumble, Sunil Joshi, Jayasuria etc. should either emulate players like Shane Warne, McGrath who are giving value for money on the field, or should gracefully quit.
