Balaji, u have showed ur power with bang. ur innocent smile after hitting a sixer in Pak will not be forgotten. u r having a good future. If selectors are really impartial, u will make history in the near future. Hats off and all the best.
Kolkata gethered all 8 points from defeating Bangalore and Hyderabad twice. Kolkata not yet registered win against good teams. Again they will have to face Delhi Daredevils twice. Hence, chance of semifinal for Kolkata is less.

Born with gifted abilities, that why he is rated as the best by all the ex and current players, and WISDEN too rates him as the 2ns best in Tests and the best in ODI's. That's called having gifted abilities. Regarding IPL, you can watch him destroy the bowlers from 14th onwards.

I think priyadarshan has a point here. "Integrity" ka to sawal usne uthaya hi nahin. I personally feel that he has been forced to play in this league and would have stayed away from it if it was upto him. He has often talked about his desire to play in the next world cup, he isnt getting any younger and playing in the IPL worsen his chances of surviving in international cricket till the next world cup. Another major injury and he will be forced to retire. I think he should focus on one day and tests and forget about 20-20 to prolong his career.

How do you know? It's just couple of months back that he was playing against Aussies and Africans..
RE:Sachin Or Lara?
by A K Singh on May 12, 2008 11:41 AM
Sachin cannot be compared to any other batsman in the world. With his excellent record batting first on flat pitches, and consistently poor record undere duress, he is in a league of his own. He cannot be compared with match-winners or match svers like Lara and Steve Waugh.

I think you just need to go back 3 months in time to see the two finals of CB series in Australia, then you wouldn't be comenting like the one above.

how bored are you all. go find a better topic to discuss on... let sachin retire and then compare the two.. both are legends and both rock.. now keep acting like bored souls n replying as usual..

I m not "anti-Sachin". It is my view and it is arguable. But, i would prefer to watch Lara than Sachin at their best.Just being indian doesnt mean, you have to support Sachin blindly. How many of you wud have hailed Sachin as best, if he was from Aus, Nz or Paki.
RE:Sachin Or Lara?
by Sandy on May 12, 2008 01:36 PM
I would have. He is a class in itself. The way he hits 4's is awesome. One of Sachin's quality is as long as he is on the crease, no score looks impossible. (Same goes with Yuvraj and Sehwag). By the way I also enjoy batting of Ricky Pointing, Clark, Sarwan.
I can understand that you are just trying to rationalize your previous post!!!

You are absolutely right Santosh Singh. He wants to create a ripple-effect among the readers so they rush their blood to their heads and start typing comments / statistics etc., and finish the rest of the job of fighting it out in public forum.
Good job, Prasiddha. You already became: "Prasiddha"...
Sachin only plays for records and money. He cannot play under pressure.Once when he was on 176 in a test match and dravid declared , he made a ststement in the press that he was surprised at dravid's decision.Dravid declared at that time because it would give the bowlers a chance to get early wickeets before the end of play.Sachin is a selfish cricketer

well mate .... if thats the kinda respect u have for a great cricketer and a greater human being who has already done soooo much for Indian cricket and not just for one or two years but consistently earned respect of the opposition for manyyyyyy years ......... then hats off to u .... kamaal hai ..... doosre log jisey bhagwaan maante hain ussey apne country waley hi SELFISH bol rahey hain ..... yaar atleast learn to respect what someone does for rather than Ridiculing him. and as regards that TEST match declaration ...... SACHIN was on 196 that time ... and sirf ek do ball ki baat thhi .. he would have got to 200 .... wats wrong in declaring 3-4 balls later...after having worked so hard for 6 hours of batting wats wrong in having a milestone behind ur name ...... how can u call him SELFISH ...let him play man ... u mind ur own stuff
RE:SACHIN RETIRE
by A Singh on May 12, 2008 11:48 AM
Dravid gave him more than half an hor to get 20 odd runs for completing his 200. The way he was going, he would have consumed another 1/2 hr before reaching 200. Dravid did no wrong when he declared with Sachin at 196.

Having said all against Sachin, I cannot deny the fact that he is the most humble celebrity I have ever seen. Not even a shadow of arrogance, he has to be the most respected sportsman in India.
RE:SACHIN RETIRE
by Prasiddha on May 12, 2008 11:22 AM
I totally agree. In the career span of 19 years, i have never seen him batting selflessly, except 2 or 3 special inns. He is a great player, but not GENIUS like Lara or Richards or Sobers

This is the the India. The only Indian player praised by international bowlers, captains and media as the best batsmen in todays cricket won many matches for India including last England test series and Ausies One day triserise and Oneday series against South africa very recently. Still he is getting such blog . from people who do not write with their proper identity. But Sachin talks with bat always and slaps these type of negative critics.
RE:SACHIN RETIRE
by karthick krishnan on May 12, 2008 11:50 AM
I think Sachin has every right to be surprised. He was batting at 194*, so its obvious. Instead of declaring Dravid should have asked Sachin to accelerate and get his 200. Also, Ganguly influenced that declaration as well. He was injured and was seen talking to Dravid about declaration. Dont quote some stupid examples.

Why now a day a people used to make difference between Young and senior....Why we indians are thinking in such a way.No other cricket country is discussing on this....I think we have to stop this non sence and concentrate on cricket
Sachin is as usual going to score tons of runs, but importantly not win matches for his team...5 world cups and nothing much to talk about...Its high time he retires
RE:hi
by Dire Straits on May 12, 2008 09:59 AM
Yeah, like Brian Lara won all the 5 World cup he played for the West Indies, isn't it ? Yet he is one of the greatest batsman of all time !!

Cricket is a team game. All players should contribute. Sachin is doing his part well. All others should understand their responsibility and win the matches for us. What happened in the CB Series in Australia.Sachin played a major role in the 2 finals and won the cup for us. We should not blindly tell him bad.Any Comments???

dear let me clarify if u dont know the past, he was the highest scorer in two world cups and still if u fee that he was resposible for india not winning than u want to say that all other indian players are just for the attandance, too chal main aaya.....even in the cases where lara or any other great has won matches tell me even single case where there was no one on other end to stand and he still won the macth .......even single example can do.....even single ok

Mr.Ranga.Yes as told by Mr.Mani see ths stats of 1996 & 2003 WC.I think u r not seeing the records properly.
RE:hi
by Karunakar Patil on May 12, 2008 11:33 AM
Ponting has low scoring rate than Sachin but he cud won 3 cups because he has support of Gilly, Bevan, Hyden & symonds Hussey allof them havinf rate of around 90. In case of Sachin his s/r is 85 bur other batsmen Ganguly, dravid & Laxman have poor s/r of 72-73. After advent of Sehwag ,Yuvraj , Dhoni & Uthapa Sachin started getting require support and he cud win recent triseries in Australia & one day series against South africa both on foreign soil. Recentely he has got better support from bowlres & fielders also.
RE:hi
by Sandy on May 12, 2008 01:27 PM
Very true. There was a time when Sachin was one man army and he has won matches for India single handedly. There are plethora of instances when Sachin getting out cheaply and other batsmen falling down like pack of cards.
