RE:Why England players did not joined with IPL?
by Chola The Greatest in the Universe on May 11, 2008 09:26 PM
Because no team wanted English players! IPL teams are formed based on who players are viewed as valuable or not. As you know English players will not be selected even in their own country forget alone outside. The reason for Australian players are more in IPL is preceisely for this reason.
AT A TIME WHEN FOOD IS RUNNING OUT ALL ACROSS THE WORLD INDIA, AFRICA, MIDDLE EAST..... AND MASSIVE POPULATION OF PEOPLE FACE STARVATION. PUNJAB FARMING IS ON THE VERGE OF COLLAPSE. MONEY IS GOING INTO SUCH RUBBISH. AND SUCH A TOURNAMENT IS OF NO BENEFIT FOR THE WATCHER SPIRITUALLY OR FINANCIALLY.

Depends what moves you spiritually and financially! You only represent an individual's viewpoint not the whole world's!

Welcome to the market driven economy. Nobody is forcing anyone to watch 20/20. People who have the money are going to watch it because they feel it is entertaining.
If there is food shortage, food prices go up, and farmers or businessmen who can get food produced through farmers can seize the opportunity and make money out of it. So more people would turn in farming, as opposed to wasting their time watching cricket matches.

Which country doesn't have poor people? In US,inflation for all of 2007 hit the highest rate for 17 years(bbc news: 16jan08)...So, acc to your theory they should stop spending on Formula 1 and other sport events-----what about money spent on moon/mars...Are you going to live there ? what about money/man spent on Iraq to find weapons of mass destruction which was US shit and helped slipping the US economy -------- Hopefully, you'll think and talk sense next time.
RE:Totally bullshit rankings...

I agree McGrath is a good bowler. But please use some brains and read the table carefully. The ranking is total of Batting points and Bowling points. How many runs did McGrath score???
RE:Totally bullshit rankings...
by Stupid BC on May 10, 2008 02:20 PM
Agreed. McGrath has been surprising economical given he is 38 and hasn't played for twelve months.
The comparisons will not make sense because not all the foreign players play in the full tournament. Those who play are retired players. On the other hand the Indians who are doing well are from the current crop. IPL may enearth one or two good players for the future but will they get to represent the country is a question to be answered. Probably not with the current semi retired players still holding fort.

THE MONEY SHOULD BE DETEMINED PST PERFORMANCE. PER RUN SCORED/ PER WICKET BOWLED OUT/ PER RUN OUT/ PER CATCH TAKEN/ PER RUN SAVED, ETC. MONEY SHOULD BE OFFERED ON PRINCIPLES SIMILAR TO ABOVE FOR ACTUAL PERFORMANCE. THE PAYMENT SHOULD BE POST-MATCH. MONEY SHOULD NOT BE PREFIXED BASED ON PAST FAME.
RE:MONEY TO PLAYERS
by Chola The Greatest in the Universe on May 10, 2008 01:04 PM
In Cricket it is hard! You may have scored 120 Runs in 60 balls but still on the losing end by giving away 100 runs in 5 overs or spilled a catch or missed a crucial run out or did not hit a last ball 4 or missed fieldings...and the list goes on.
Typical examples are Tendulkars, Ganguly, Dravid, Laxman etc...these guys would score runs and keep their PVI Index tight but they can not take their teams to winning position because they are not focusing on victory instead these petty statistics.
Statistics are interesting piece used for post match analysis but for making decisions in cricket selections, it will be totally useless

There are lot of matches when these players have won the match alone, but it is not always possible. rest of the team members should contribute.
