Kapil was always a team man played to win. Gavaskar always played for personal records often at the cost of team's interest. Gavaskar was never a team man.

That's why Kapil Dev hanged on to the team for 2 extra years without any performance, just to break Richard Hadlee's world record of most number of Test wickets ??

Man I would suggest you go back and do some homework. Do u understand what it means to play cricket against fast bowlers like Garner, Andy Roberts, Malcolm Marshal, Colin Kroft, Mike Holding. Which batsman in the world cricket has played successfully against them? Man it requires to have guts, temperament and courage to face such attacks and stay there for 2-3 days. And not lose wicket and save your country's pride? Ppl like you will never ever understand it.

you are right. and that too, without a helmet to top it all throuout his illustrious career and highest centuries (13 in all out of 34)against those mighty & ferrocious west indians. even legendry don bradman could not score off them to this extent!

Agreed. But success did breed an ego which became difficult to be shunted between chosing personal fame vs national fame.
ICC knew very well that Sunil Gavaskar was a columnist, and a commentator all these years, except when he called England and Australia as "dinosaurs" did Malcolm Speed and big boys of ICC realised that Sunil should opt either one or the other. If as is said that being ICC committee chairman was an honorary job, then it does not bring bread and butter to the table. Meanwhile, ICC's double standards have come forth, and the moral is toe our line and survive and forever be 'yes man.'
Does anybody remember what he did with Calcutta? Decided never to play again there. Persobal ego ahead of country. In 1987 when Pakistan visited India he did not play there. And in 87 world semi final against england at bombay everybody knows how he got out to make sure that India didnt win and did not reac final which was to be played at Calcutta.

Look at self first commie boy..then measure others egos...Sunil was great player , fine countryman..afterall who else had guts to take on ICC and proctor.

countrymen ? my foot. he knows the cricket economy is based on india and he can make money by writing caustic columns. that is it.
If SRK/Salman/Sanjay Dutt/Govinda/Aamir can earn ample of Money nobody want to take an objection that too when sanju & sallu facing criminal cases. But When any cricketer want to earn everybody takes strong objection. Cricketing Carreer is very short & uncertain if they get restrictions they will rouble like Maninder/Solkar & like some other Cricketers they got name & fame but financially they are weak. Once they are out of Cricket no body want to take their autograph also because public memory is very short they want everythin fast & new if any batsman gets out on duck public want a century from him in next match & under this pressure it is difficult to survive.

Cricket should be banned as this game is spoiling itself cricket now...Added to this,it spoils the thought of sportsman..Now nobody is thinking to play for country everybody needs money..For which other games are disturbed..and one more thing the earned fund of cricket should be utilized for improvement of the country or to promote other sports..Now the situation became too bad tht people started doing business on this..I understand tht lots of cricket youngstars are benifited. But do anybody know where this money goes?Just think once.Entertainment is good but it should not affect badly to other sports. If this will not be stopped then definitely there will be imblance found tomorrow.there should be some rules and regulation for the transparency of this earned money. One more question are we improving by spending lots of money and time??
