by Suman Bhat on May 08, 2008 11:56 AM  | Hide replies

As per first round matches, KKR supposed to play against DDDs as the last 7th match of first round
How come they palyaing against RCs?
is it match fixed??
The match against MIs vs RRS was one sideded why RRS batsman were throwing their wkt
This match for RCs against KKR s is very imp for BRCs and already media is hyping KKR going to win & Dravid won't get any support in Kolkata
Best of Luck to team BRCs

As per original schedule, KKR play DD in first round on 13th May and second round on 22nd May. See the IPL schedule available in Rediff itself.

However, I too do not understand why KKR play second round against RCB and other teams before playing first round against DD!

Indian talent very key to the team performance in IPL
by Patekar on May 08, 2008 11:23 AM

Most franchises were running after foreign talent. But then they seemed to have forgotten that only 4 foreign players can be in the playing eleven. Teams like Bangalore forgot to recruit good domestic players and have paid the price. The teams that have done well so far in IPL are the teams where the Indian players are reasonably good.

Charu Sharma
by Rajnarain Gouda on May 08, 2008 10:47 AM  | Hide replies

Media carries reports wherein Charu Sharma claims that he did not resign but was removed as CEO of RCB.

One wonders what Mr. Sharma wants to achieve by this.

In the first place, one does not know what really were the credentials of Sharma that prompted the franchisees / owners of RCB team to consider appointing him as CEO. Does a person become entitled to be CEO of a sports organisation just because he has blah blahed something in programs like "Extra Innings" on SETMAX or "Fourth Umpire" on Doordarshan?

In any case, I do feel that although the RCB team possesses a wealth of talent in the form of Kallis, Steyn, Boucher, Pravin Kumar, Zaheer Khan etc., it is the approach of captain Dravid which makes the team an intrinsic loser.

Also, there can be no place for players like Sunil Joshi and Anil Kumble in T20 teams.

Surprisingly, Wasim Jaffer, who one thought is a docile player suited only to tests, did come out with two useful knocks of 40 plus, but to no avail.

Dravid is a methodist who is unfit to lead teams in ODIs and T20. Even in test matches, he is more useful as a batsmen and close-in fielder and nothing beyond that.

Vijay Mallya may perhaps take a leaf out of Deccan Chargers book - who "rested" Laxman and saw their team win under the leadership of Gilly. Mallya should perhaps "rest" Dravid and make someone like Boucher or Kallis as captain.

it is not right to judge player / team
even RRs were underestimated but played a better cricket than any other team. Dhoni team has lost 3 matches.ganguly team lost 3 matches. though he became a Knight by firey innings of MCcullum
Laxman dravid are playing putting an effort unlike other superstar who proclaiming injury but did not face a single ball but gettting all lamelght?
A captain is as good as his team, if team is not performing all players are responsible...
check the stat before u say dravid is unfit play odi team or odi players. dravid has highest winning % as a odi captian and he achieved in less than 2 years unless ganguly who played as captain for 5 yrs and led team for more matches.
Dravid is best in test , 87% public voted for Dravid in NDTV poll better than tendulkar and lara where ndtv jadeja and siddu are doing dravid bashing 24x7...
It is easy to blame or criticise players like dravid and laxman bcuz such palyers never open mouth infront of media blabering some nonsense or not flameboyunt..like ganguly or tnedulkar
what gavaskar n shastri are doing for tendulkar and sabakarim, jadeja arunlals is doing for ganguly they never find fault with these 2 players.but never goes a single oppertunity to blame players like dravid and laxman even kumble...

some of the players also need to be saked

jaffer, kumble have to be sacked.and it seems that the south africans are taking it easy.kallis, boucher and steyn are not playing with the same intensity as they would for their country.but, what can the franchise owners do?these players have iconic status and it is very difficult to replace them.ganguly also needs to be sacked from the kolkata team.he looks old and he is only using the media and the support of the people of bengal for his personal benefits.

Agree about Ganguly. He is spoiling his team's chances. (Personally I dont mind though as I dont support KKR) But, no point in singling out the foreign players. After all a playing eleven consists of 11 players out of which 7 are local players. The teams have done well so far in IPL are the teams where the Indian players are reasonably good.
