Ah ! Statistics is the last resort of Rouges and Politicians!
by Srinivasan Krishna on May 12, 2008 04:54 PM  | Hide replies

How apt is this famous statement!
Add to that a bit of economics ( Prices!) an you have a brew worthy of a patent Rascals!
Only by statistics you can prove VVS, Harbhajan & Sehwag as better captains than Dhoni!
Only statistics can prove Glenn Mcgarth is lesser bowler ( in 20-20!) than others...
Sehwag is successful because he has Glenn to bowl him 4 super overs and stifle opposition while he has the in form Ghambir going for him.
Look at Dhoni & his bowlers! Palani amarnath, Gony, vidyut, Bravo.... Not a line up that commands respect from batsmen, and then you know why Dhoni is highly rated as a captain.
Look at other teams Mohali has/d Lee, sreesanth, Irfan bangalore, Zaheer Khan Dale Styn.....
I think Chennai under Dhoni, Rajasthan royals under Warne and Mumbai indians under Pollock are by far the best bunch in this tournament so far.
Delhi team is very good too
Youvraj-Mohali, Ganguly- knight riders are not being lead - Captaincy failures ( I do not consider the animated arms waving of Ganguly as inspirational captaincy by any means & Yuvraj is immature and childish)
Lesser said about Dravid & VVS the better.
Though the satistical story tells us otherwise, and is only for rouges and politicians.....!!!!!

%u2022      Yuvraj Singh is right up there

Ahha Mr. Shukla, you conviniently forgot to add Dada's last two performances, incidentally both of them match-winning as well as Man of the Match winning. I can see that you compiled the list well after the matches ended on Sunday, so why the pass? Btw, Sachin has been the most "Outstanding Batsman" in IPL, Mallya it seems has had enough with Dravid and last heard Deccan Chronicle group forced Laxman to admit that he had injury! ;-)

DADA
by on May 07, 2008 04:22 PM  | Hide replies

Sourav is no more a role model for Bengalis all over the world. There is flop show from dada in IPL. His attitude and balance of the mind is questionable in most of the times. He must learn how to captain T20 match, for this he must not have any ego problem with any of his team mates and treat each player on his merit irrespective of local or outside player or not.

Players like Sourav, Dravid, Laxman are not suited for the 20-20 format.

their best performance in T20 can be considerd a good innings in a one day match (50 ovrs).

So it wont be fair to judge them on this format of the game.
Its a stupid decision of the management to pay so much money to these players who are not suited to this format of the game.

A player's performance should be consisten and not erratic. So has been Saurav's performance. Had it not been Dalmiya at the helm, Saurav would have perished in to the oblivion last decade itself.

A person who knows can easily understand whether it is stupid or wise decision to involve these players in this tournament.
We had the opportunity of watching sleak shots of Laxman in T20 as well. And he and Dravid added class without losing the strike rates.

The fact is time has come for DADA to call it a day. It is written large on the walls. But somehow Sourabh does not want a glorious exit with dignity. It is humiliating and embarrasing for his fans to tolerate him anymore.
RIGHTLY SAID, HE DOES NOT INSPIRE BENGALIS ANY MORE.

Dear - Role model is not defined or rejected based on foolish 20-20. His attitude was like this and what he has achieved as a captain and player since his Azaharuddin bossing days is for this and we salute him for that. Some joker youngsters have nothing to do in rediff but to bring only Ganguly for anything and everything in the discussion.
Why don't we accept a simple fact that barring IPL these seniors never play for 20-20 and here they have come just to earn their pension. How many players from Indian sqad are doing well. if IPL is the platform then Dhoni should retire immediately, and let play the very young guys like Praveen kumar, Saha and rajat bhatia - will he or these rediff bloggers will accept that?

More over, sitting in AC room and spiting some commeds is not like plying in ground. Both are different. So guys.. please stop

Just give few names whom you support for their attitude- Harbhajan for his attitude in australia got whole Indian's support, Shrishant- the joker for his attitude got Indian support for everything he has done. Actually someone from Bengal being a prominent figure in Cricket is really painful for rest of India. Now you will find even the competitive reality shows are also being bashed for the same reason. Carry on jokers and see TOI dt. 6.5 which shows 3 Bengalis ( 3 from WB and 1 from Bangladesh are selected among 100 best thinkers of the world having 7 Indians in the list). Bye the bye this is not a list from Indian parliament.

Comparison is not right
by Raj on May 07, 2008 08:06 AM

Comparison of players is not right. Delhi prepared a flat pitch to suit Sehwag, where it is easy to score runs. Bangalore is a tough pitch to play where next to Mcculum's 150 , the second highest score is 66 by Dravid.
