Why PV for 10du
by Priyadarshan on May 06, 2008 12:29 PM  | Hide replies

Why PV for sachin
why these people are degrading this nations such ahigh civilian award
sachin did nothing for the society and nation
he is not at all deserved to be honoured with PV
there are so many veteran athelitics and sportsman and women completely forgot and ignored by the political establishment
this incident clearly indicate his proximity with selfish politicians

anybody should be judged not by the no. of runs scored, but the no. of matches won...Sachin fails in this regard....But his conduct has been impeccable and nobody can doubt it...

Cricket is a team game, so therefore Sachins' runs are added to the 'team' total, right? Now How would you judge Brian Lara? In that regards, Steve Waugh must be having the distinction of making his team win on most occassions with his own batting. What about Viv Richards? how many his batting has won? or lost, like the WC 83 - was Viv NOT to blamed for that bad shot and the team losing the cup?
Therefore, it is NOT possible to read into this fact - how many matches one has won. Definitely if you pick two players who have won matches contributing greatly to Indian test cricket - they would be Rahul Dravid and Anil Kumble. But then Rahul needed some other batsman to be with him - throughout or Kumble needed some other bowler to support him from other end and fielders to catch the catches! Let Sachin enjoy his moment, Let us be happy, rather than 'judging' him. Please, ?

The greatest Indian alive!
by sandeep kumar on May 06, 2008 12:21 PM  | Hide replies

Sachin is without doubt the greatest of all Indians alive..including our scientists, other sportsman, politicians etc. No doubt , abdul kalam n Gandhi family were gr8, but did they face the sort of daily pressure and expectations that sachin face. And other sportspeople like paes, sania fades when u compare sachins achievements. Basically, consistent achievements under pressure seperates the gods from men, and here sachin scores over all other Indians
Sachin..the Greatest batsman to ever play the game! A hero and a living legend

The thing is stop treating him as something special....treat him like another sports star such as ganguly or dravid or sania or anand....he is not don bradman....he is made to be like that and he has to bear the burden....dont expect too many things from him because he is not extra ordinary....he is a great player....good technique but he is prone to same mistakes that the so called lesser mortals such as a dravid or ganguly can make....he plays when conditions are favorable or he really wants to play given his physical and mental state at that particular point.....he is not the medicine for all ills.....dont treat himi like god....then everything will look normal....why no one makes a fuss when dravid or leander gets a national award?????

What a surprise he is able to walk and get the award...I am sure he is preparing for one more tour to AUS and getting ready to play till 2015 WCUP now that he has got this award as well...

The guy is super smart that he knows how to prolong his career,he skipped the Test against SAF to make it appear like hes going to play in 20-20s(which isnt his favorite format cause he dont have 50 overs to score his century and also cant slow down when he reaches 50or 100 nor can he hit sixes like most players are doing) and then gets injured to avoid the olympic torch controversy and sits out 20-20 to play for coming test series or odi or whatever and then will sit part of that out and this way he can play for 10 more years or prolly for ever....

But i am not complaining cause since 2000 ive been following Cricket like WWF as the match fixers are still there and just by banning Azhar we let go other culprits so whatever result who cares..

I am sure u guys want us to criticize him more and more and that is why u r talking this way so that we come up with more points against this so called legend who never scored a century when he came 4th down or never score fast the moment he approaches a milestone and fail like clockwork under crunch situations, who can forget his failures in WCUPs under pressure and not to mention that legendary choke against PAK when all it needed was 14 runs to win,the guy didnt even come to pick up the prize as he was crying in the dressing room...so called legend....CHOKER and selfish player, not to mention Desh Drohi to beg for exemption for taxes for his ferrari,i am sure his greed for money wouldve made him a accomplise in match fixing as well.

Yeah, sure ... the guy is super smart. But funny that somehow this guy is rated by all ex as well as current players, dead or alive as the best batsman of his era. Sir Donald Bradman, Sir Vivian Richards, Sir Garfield Sobers, Brian Lara, Shane Warne, Allan Donald, Wasim Akram, WISDEN, etc all consider him to be the best. Really confusing !! It's also funny that nobody have ever rated MR. Rosgulla as the best of his era. Don't know why !! Also confusing that Sir Doanld Bradman was somehow mesmerized by Tendulkar, and in the process openly declared him as the best he have seen. I wonder why dosen't MR. Rosgulla ever gets such honor.

Sachin plays for the sponsors.
by SRT on May 05, 2008 11:30 PM  | Hide replies

Sachin has the tendency to skip the matches telecast on channels other than on ESPN-STARSPORTS. Sachin skips the matches due to so-called injuries especially when the same are shown on SET MAX. That is the reason for him not playing IPL so far.
Sachin plays for the sponsors lobby. Even during the World Cup 2007 in West Indies, it was the same story as telecast right holders were Set Max. So he played poor cricket to avoid India's progress in the next round.
He skipped Sri Lanka series (SL rights are with SET MAX?). He is against SET MAX channels or against all the rival channels of ESPN-STAR with whom he has an understanding.

You can recall many instances of his non-availability and its connection between the channels holding telecast rights.

How can u say that the injuries was "so called".Are u doctor.U can not question sachin's commitment.Remember 1996 world cup when his father was no more during world cup.Sachin's father was his inspiration. It was great loss to him.But after cremation he returned to England to play match against Kenya and scored a ton. This event shows his commitment and love for country. My advice is to Mr. SRT is to to write meaningful and logical things only.Do not hurt the feelings of carors of fans across the globe.

Take your ridiculous argument somewhere. It is one thing to be 'not a fan' but another to take it to extreme limits. What about the home series against SA when Sachin played the 1st test and then missed out on the remaining 2? Did Set Max not show the 1st test and started showing 2nd and 3rd tests?
