Wonder aloud!!!
by ramprasad mantravadi on Apr 03, 2008 01:40 AM

W.G. Grace used to grace a beard that matches Amla's but he never had to wear a helmet.

In Chennai heat, to wear a helmet with a belt clutching the beard hair tightly against his chin is terrible to imagine itself. To go on to bat like he did and get 150 is nothing short of a 250 from a clean-shaven fellow like Dravid.

Amla may be very sore (to pun), but has every reason to feel sweet about this innings.

Kudos!!!

Above Others

In many aspects Rahul Dravid is the most stylish and accomplished player in the recent period. Both Lara and Tendulkar are vulnerable to pacers and have got themselves out when the team was in dire need of them. It is the great Dravid who has faced all sorts of bowling all over the world with the same grit and determination not found in any one of his contemporaries . This is not to undermine anyone but Dravid is no doubt above others

He "WAS" above other at one point of time.
NOT NOW.
Look at his performance of last 1 year.

Irrelevant
by sri on Mar 31, 2008 09:04 PM  | Hide replies

Excellent that a person of Indian origin is doing well. All other factors are irrelevant and reek of prejudice unless someone here knows something about him that none of us do! So, please focus on his cricket and his Indian origin.

just focus on cricket and leave aside the indian origin. Because that is what propelled him to the SA squad. He came thus far because of quota policy in SA. Don't argue about that.

Kaif included in the team ... ahead of election next year ... we have a political quota in team!

Sadhus ......
by sarika pinto on Mar 31, 2008 05:46 PM  | Hide replies

I am amazed that based on a simple man's beard people are branding him as terrorist, dirty etc... By the same logic, all our sadhus (who really look dirty), are terrorists because of their looks.
Stop this nonsense. If you cant respect somebody, at least keep quiet. This kind of discussion only encourages hatred.

There is a strong jihadic element in South African Muslim community...there were many many instance of these groups going around and harassing Indians or Hindu origin. The beard is innocent but it does add to a support of radicalism - remember how bearded Paki cricketers behave these days ? Shoiab Malik thanking 'All Muslims' for supporting Pak against India?

I completely agree with you. Not all the people who have beard like muslim clerics have, are not terrorists. Its their religion that they follow and not terrorism.

oopsSarika,
No SADHU ever in the history of terror activities turned up as heinous killers. So don't be so generous and diplomatic to give such statements. And you say Sadhus look dirty.Dirty by what physical looks or Psychologically or Both. And see this simple Man's statement, "I want to thank the Almighty for giving me the opportunity"....again and again these Religious pulls in Public conversations is done only by one set of people and you know for sure who they are???

I was brought up in a Muslim locality here in the old city.I've been living here since 35 years.
I know the difference in the utterings if Inshallah! and Jesus! or someone saying Rama Rama!.
I said in my statement "heinous killers" relook at it.
Do you compare SADHU to chandra swamy. Is it a logical comparision at all?
I agree everyone thanks God, but the difeerence is the style in thanksgiving?

Blow to Indian Team

Its a big blow to Indian team that Sachin is not going to play the next match. He is playing really well. This is a lesson to tema management to give him and other seniors proper rest.

He did the country a great service by hiding his injury, which he got in Australia, and playing the Chennai Test. Being a selfless and devout patriot, he did not do it for money. He did it for the love of his country.
Why drop such a benefactor of the country? They should have dropped Sehwag instead. After all, an injured Tendulkar is better than a fit Sehwag.

This statement is ridiculous after Sehwags performance in the last match. He played to show he can after being hurt by getting dropped from the team. He has this determination. T'Kar is injured, he wants rest, no one dropped him idiot. He cannot play till he recovers, what you want him to kill himself now or what?
