Ishant - do your job, which only you can do. For other unnecessary things, there are many other, who don't have anything else to do.

P is talking about Shoaib...
Ishant, please stay away from Mr Steroids who has a long way to go in terms of respecting the game that brings bread and butter to him!!
Don't learn anything from Shoaib...just concentrate on your positives and strengthen them..

Ishant should not bother about these things too much!!
by John Miles on Mar 28, 2008 03:16 AM  | Hide replies

I believe the problem with Ishant is that he might go the Vinod Kambli way....he looks like the kind of guy who can let success go to his head!!
Why should he bother about these things?? Even veterans like Rahul and Sachin have not spoken too much about sledging..

Ishant Sharma should definitely keep the following things in mind as literally overnight, he has become a big star :

1) Unwanted media attention should be brushed aside and he should not give too many interviews and all that

2) He should continue working hard and not rest on laurels or let success go to his head

3) He should learn to differentiate between fairweather buddies and real friends....these fairweather buddies always multiply when a young guy achieves success and fame..and literally empty the bank balances of successful guys...examples would be Rahul Mahajan, Vinod Kambli, Shoiab Akhtar, Vikram Chatwal, Rohan Gavaskar...sort of people who were taken advantage of by friends circles!!

Ishant, if you can take care of these 3 things, you will be the best bowler in the world..

Level headedness can be learnt from Dravid, Kumble and Sachin!!

Waiting for responses from people!!

Your advice is good.
However, all Ishant is saying is to have "controlled" aggression and not letting words affect your play.
I don't find anything particularly wrong with the statement and his thoughts.
Also, level headedness doesn't mean keeping one's mouth shut. You can speak, speak well without hyperboles, and that too can show your level headedness.
For instance, you seem to be level headed. But are you quiet? No.
You are still posting. Which is good.
Why can't Ishant?

Now the 3 saints are saying that sledging isnt bad, sledging is part of game, parcel of game, sledging is needed to improve aggression.

Well if the Aussies do it, we called them rogues, monkeys, whatever... and if we do it, its becoming right.... nice!

We are becoming great. We'll abuse others, but if others abuse, we'll run behind and take refuge under the skin of indian public.

Atleast here, the aussies aren't as cowards as us to hide behind their public. Our crickets are cowards, cheats and chameleons.

the selfish motive of our cricketers are slowly getting exposed, but our short term memory erases it time and again.

I also wonder why Tendul stays in the team, he has chucked out Ganguly and Dravid, so if they need experience they'll always stick to Tendul.. great Sachin, what a master strategy.

Well Indians more or less reply to the sledgings by your brave australians. They don't initiate it.Reaction is natural & must. But the fact of the matter is that Indians, pakis & other subcontinent players get fined more often than the whites who get away with almost anything. This is evident & not an allegation.Well abt Sachin all I have to say he is a master who is born once in a century so why not a master strategy for him.He is champion.Keep vommitting poison for Sachin he will keep playing as long as he wants.

yeah he will play at the cost of dravid and ganguly... though i dont think ganguly deserves a bit... but dravid was victimised.

now harbhajan can talk a lot about chappel

the same chappel was the one who wanted youth blood like RP Singh, Dhoni, and co...

remember our master blaster contrives along with the same dhoni to oust dravid and co... such is acceptable to you ?

atleast cricket australia had the courtesy to reprimand hayden,

our own BCCI didnt even bother to call harbhajan or yuvraj for their boxing ring tactic....

if a dog barks its wrong, but if another dog responds - its right.... ???

now see who is calling sledging as right -our own cricketers because it has worked in favour of india.... for the aussies it has worked for 10 years, so nothing wrong if they sledge and claim it right. am not an aussie supporter, but i have started hating our own indians for their recent pathetic behaviour

the very same indian team has the greats of kumble, dravid and laxman... against the likes of sreesanth, harbhajan and yuvraj...

Mohammed Islamul,

Read what he is saying first. He is talking about not crossing the limit in sledging that Aussies have done all these years.

Read Mark Ramprakash and Harshal Gibbs comments, that the only time they experienced racist sledging is when they faced Aussie.

You're full of your imagination and barking out without any substance. You're reminding us of that 'ashish' creature..

you are 200% correct.

There should 0% tolerance on sledging. Indian cricketers should not support sledging of any form and later they should not expect sympathy from poor Indian cricket followers. Indian cricketers dont play with emotions Indian fans.

Not so alert... are you?

Mate, its not we who sledge and Aussies give us back and we cry.
It's they who sledge, we who respond and then the Aussies cry.

By the way, Don't cry... your advice will anyway not reach Ishant. So you can type away to your heart's content. At least you will be satisfied and be calmer after venting steam in this forum.

Cricket is degenerating ... from a gentleman's game to street fighting
by Venkatesa Prabhu on Mar 27, 2008 09:33 PM  | Hide replies

Ishant is still a babe and just becoz he has taken a few wickets and the Aussie captain had a lot of praise, he is commenting on sledging. Cricket was and is still a gentleman's game. If these worthies wish to convert it to a slanging match or a fighting one, then the less said the better. Limits are different for different people and hence it is better to clam than 'banter' and invite trouble.

Did you see the Aussie series, recollect and tell us how cheated how many times. Ponting and co were so confident that they almost claimed night as day and reacted vigrously if argued.
Have some comments like Kumble Vs Ponting. Aussie media on Indian. By the way are you planning to wrinte coloumns in Aussie media.

Who will set the limit Ishant?
by Junaid pk on Mar 27, 2008 07:17 PM

"Ishant Sharma feels there is nothing wrong with some banter on the field as long as it remains within acceptable limits".
Simple thing, Limit for you will not be limit for others. Every person will define his own limit. "F... you" will be australian player's limit, but you will say, he has overgone his limit. Simple fundo hai yaar. So better keep everything out.
