It is not the Victory for Gavaskar and BCCI. He has to meet Speed with GREAT SPEED in the forth coming meeting of ICC. In dubai, ICC already informed Gavaskar to quit.
The most selfish cricketer the game has seen. We know how gentlemanly (1) when gavaskar pushed Chauhan back to Pavilion; (2) when he selected bombay players like Gulam Parker (club standard) who dropped the bat more or less at the sight of Bob Willis run-up (3) total bias for mumbai cricketers; (4) when criticised Dlip Dhoshi that any bowler bowling 30 odd overs may take 5 wickets after Dhoshi finished with figures of 5 for 110 against australia; I can add another hundred stuff but the point is the most selfish cricketer made most of our indian cricket grounds as per his liking - placid dull wickets. Good bye.

Very well said, Deepak. I had seen him opposing the captain Venkataraghavan on his orders, instigating colleagues and of course working on his own hundereds rather than the team winning. This was a India known fact. May be the younger guys hav'nt seen that. Coming to the present context he is doing same mucking around again. He may be supporting Indian stuff, but he can't demonstrate the same behaviour in an international set up when he is heading a ICC cricketing panel and expected to be neutral with all atleast not to make filthy comments against other nations or individuals while heading a responsible position. Just because he is supporting us (whether our stand is right or wrong) you can't back away from cautioning him to mind his position. It shows his very irresponsbible behaviour and attitude to repeat his earlier behavious in a different form. Are you guys telling that reflects well on our country which with all controversies are being viewed differently from the previous years. Let us show our greatness on field and off field through our game skills and not this kind of rubbish talks. If you are supporting such things you are only ruining things to come.. In the first day match SA quietly stole the show by excellent batting while our guys were involved blaming every damn thing on field and abusing the position and instigating utterences. Now only we have just started showing our skills and if are elated by such jump ups I am sure we are going to stay here for ever.

Mr. Deepak and Mr. Krish,
Why do you feel jeolous of Sunil Gavaskar? Sunil Gavaskar wants to be in the news and in limelight with all his silly and stupid comments. All his admirers feel that he is doing yoemen service to the country and game of cricket, and getting elated. Why do you deprive his fans of this elation?

Zakirbhai,
Let us all behave with objectivity and in a mature manner. Do you know what is the racial record of the gentleman that you are talking about? I request you to go back to the records and study yourself as to what he had stated about the West Indian spectators, during his playing days?

Mr. Deepak, I want you to recall another feather in the cap of Sunil Gavaskar- his Century against Pakistan in Bangalore test in 1983-84 series. Normally when there is no chance of a result, the test is called off, half an hour before the scheduled closure time without completing the mandatory 20 overs in the last hour (during those days there was no rule of 90 overs being bowled in a day). Accordingly, the umpires have agreed to call it a day (as there was no chance of a result), when our friend was batting in his 80s. But our friend did not leave the crease, though all the Pakistani fielders have left the ground. As a century is the most important thing for him, the officials prostrated before Asif Iqbal (Pakistani Captain) and other Pakistani players pleading them to go back to the ground and bowl the remaining overs to him so that he completes his century. The match was later called off only after this great sportsan complted his century. Some of his ardent fans may not be aware of this great feet. This is posted for the benefit those people, to enable them to cherish this feet.

I am not agree with Deepak & krish , Mr Deepak is ignoring the fact that Gavaskar was walking towards pavelion after getting out but same time he was abused by Ausi players & he returned back ,This is human nature .You must see Vedio footage otherwise he was the Example for every player to moving beore the desion .he was the interovert player who never shows his expression on field & same he applied in his batting. He is the example for any new comer.
He is the person who open his mouth for India .I respect him very much . If Sachin can get Padamvibhusan in Cricket Asha Bhosle can get Same for singing ,He must get Bharat ratan in coming time . Our Govt shd think on this.Salute to Gavaskar .

thats history! the present is that this man gavaskar is trying to defend this country and we need to back him up! gavaskar is right in saying that procter and people like proctor are racially inclined towards whites. we know that australians are more likely to escape punishments for same offence comapred to indians. this is just because the whites think they are superior to us. the other reason is simply they are better speakers / defenders of their evil words

by raj on Mar 26, 2008 05:26 PM what exactly are you opposing ? gavaskar has taken it upon himself to respond on behalf of a lot of ndians. we cant be stomped around by the english and the aussie media/ business and beauroc-rats.
bcci doesnt believe in talking to them squarely - they know only brinkmanship, in such an eventuality, its good that gavaskar makes it clear of what the sub continent thinks.
there are others who think that critics need stature or else they will not be counted. australia gets its strength from winning, england from the fact that they started cricket, and we are the economic powerhouse of the game, as well as producing fine cricketers - despite that we've been dubbed as outsiders, its time guys like gavaskar are supported, nevermind his character. he's doing a good job!

Why don't you talk about the subject in this column? What Gawasker said was the truth and he must get credit for speaking out. He was the only one who spoken out on the International platform during the Sydney Test fiasco. His job as the unbiased commentator was questioned because he had spoken against bias umpiring and Aussie attitude during the Sydney test.
Where are all your 'unselfish' players then, when India really needed them to speak out for the country against injustice?

What has Gavaskar's cricketing days got to do with this? Gavaskar has told the truth which is hard to digest for some people. Right now Gavaskar is not a cricketer and what he has done during cricketing days is not the topic here. It seems you have a long hatred for Gavaskar which you are unable to overcome.
