Whats baffling is that sides like England and Sri Lanka regularly win test matches in Kiwi land....Pakistan overwhelms the Kiwis in their own den....but India is yet to win a test match in New Zealand for the last 32 years....despite boasting of some of the best players in the world.....either our players are overrated or are underperforming in Kiwi land... The last time a full strength Indian team was thoroughly humiliated in both the tests and the one-dayers....a comparison with the Windies teams of yore from the sixties to the eighties who had it rough in Kiwiland is tempting .....but then they were world beaters ....and it only seemed to be classic case of law of averages with them.

Thats correct. Even before the 2003 world cup, Indian batting performance was worst in the New Zealand tour in both ODIs and tests. But the bowling was good. Indian fast bowlers like Zaheer Khan did excellently. Fleming in response to Indian tendency to prepare spin friendly pitches, he requested the curators for seaming pitches. Bcoz he knew that Indian players are always vulnerable to seam and bouncy pitches except few players. Thats why Indian batting have never performed well in New Zealand.

Thats why now the Indian pitches should be made bouncy and seam. for both ranji as well as international matches. Almost all other foreign pitches like in Australia, South Africa, New Zealand, West Indies, England are either boucy or seam friendly tracks. It may not benefit now for the Indian players, but it sure has long term benefits which is sure to do good for Indian cricket.

Now the current Indian test team have players who can play well on bouncy tracks like Laxman, Dravid, Sachin, Ganguly, Jaffer. But when these players retire we have to get players who can do well in foreign pitches.

The reason is that New Zealand have always had a fine pace and seam attack which gets a lot of help in Kiwi conditions...and our batsmen have not been able to handle the seamers...
If you note, our bowlers have always done well in NZ, it is our batting which has crumbled in NZ...

Agree with you, it was indeed a great series and the better team won, though i must say that England were playing a pretty weak NZ team without Craig McMilland and Lou Vincent(ICL gains) and also without Kyle Mills!! Not sure whether England can beat strong teams like Australia, India and South Africa!

And England were playing without Trescothic, Flintoff, and out of form Harmison

Hi Charlie,
I would rate the Kiwis a better Team and Moral Winners. If you look at all the 3 Tests played in this series, those who won the Toss and batted first had won the Test. The Team which batted on 5th day had lost.
It was not an easy outing for Kiwis, still they exhibited the best Cricket with very good Sprit and Spotsmanship. It was indeed a great effort by Tim Southee, a No. 10 Player to played a great innings on the 5th day that too against the Bowlers in form like Sidebottem & Monty.
Good Cricket played by both the Teams, more important is that both the Team had played the game with True Sprit.

Hey Charlie....Tresco has left the scene and in Cokk thay have an equally good guy...Harmy out of form and Sidebottom looks so much better...yes Flintoff would have made a huge difference!!
