Team India has to expect the unexpected from proteas
by Rajnarain Gouda on Mar 25, 2008 05:44 PM  | Hide replies

Proteas cannot be taken for granted.

Last time around, they opened with Andrew Hall (who is basically a medium bowler who can bat a little bit) who came out with a patient score of over 150 in a test match (was it at Kanpur?).

Kallis is a class player who had a brilliant run recently in SA home series against Newzealand.

Smith is emerging as a tough customer as a captain these days and is also tending to become a reliable opening bat. Boucher is a good keeper and batsman.

There are unpredictable entities like Ntini and Steyn.

In view of all this, Team India needs to take SA very seriously.

If atleast 3 of the first 6 batsmen fire well for India, scoring big runs, and if the fielding and bowling will be spirited, then we can expect better results for India.

I agree with one of the writers on this site that Harbhajan should make way for Chawla. Viru can be a better off spinner than Bhajji.

Wishing all the best to Kumble and his boys (men?).

Obviously they will certainly "LACK" Shaun Pollock's experience and skill.....the word lack is missing in the above article...expect rediff to maintain some quality

Bring in Piyush chawla instead of harbhajan!!
by Nishant on Mar 25, 2008 05:31 PM  | Hide replies

Harbhajan has just played to the crowd. His record has been pathetic in Test cricket since last two years. Even shahid afridi as a bowler has better record than him. Its time piyush chawla is given a chance. What do you say folks!!

You are right dear. Viru and Sourav proved to be better bowlers in test matches in Australia than Bhajji. Bhajji should return to his wicket taking ways or be out of the team.

I am afraid that the rain would play a spoilsport in chennai. Because rain is forecasted for next 4 days as a low depression has been formed in Bay of Bengal. I am praying to god.
