at least when the BCCI sign these big ticket television deals or sponsorship deals for jersey t-shirts cans mugs or even underwear's they say they are "non profit " organization since they don't pay dividends to their share holders and hence don't pay taxes to govt as well so they claim even though they are private body they represent India on cricket field ( if so why not icl is another long story lets leave that for the moment ) the line they take is they use the "funds" generated to augment better infrastructure for the players ,may be true still I don't see every district in India having good quality pitches and stadiums surely with billion dollars in their disposal not too much to ask!! ECB and CA with lesser funds have much better programs to attract kids .still maybe I will say good job BCCI considering the recent influx of small town guys next towards the fans that's just pathetic no decent toilets so lets not even get towards fans ..
Now coming to the IPL the franchise have "bought" the teams so now they are a part of their respective Companies like Reliance GMR UB or even SRK's group .NOW they are public listed companies as well so now thy need to answerable to share holders .Vijay mallya has often said that his duty is increase the value for his stake holder not towards the "evils " of drinking .Share holder demand profit and value for their stock so in a recession year they can well use the monies generated from cricket towards the other business tha
Our India has equal/better principles of constitution for Democracy, free-speech and free-market on paper compared to western democracies like the USA. In a way, I am exercising my "right to opinion" in our free-speech and free-market country to voice against an organisation which is going against free-market principles like HOLDING-all-cricket-grounds, black-mailing cricketers, affliates and even sponsors. Man, I dont know, why no law enfrocement body is suing BCCI. When BCCI started IPL with same intentions like ICL, why should ICL be discriminated. Mr.Chandra, think this step from ICC as harbinger of good signs for ICL. The next step from ICC should be...any player playing in ICL will be considered to play for their respective countries. NO BAN. Hey Mr. Vijay, Mr.Khan, Mr.Mukesh..all you big pocketed folks..we will watch ICL and not your hyped, star-studded IPL. Thanks ICC, you have shown that you will not be eaten by BCCI. A bunch of people who claim to run BCCI, which is not a public-listed company (but only a private organisation) and has made a transaction of over a Billion-US-Dollars in overnight and claim to start a new lifted-concept called IPL by monopolising the whole business of cricket, without any prethought, that someday some

I am skeptical and as a tax-paying citizen of this nation, I have no problem in spending some time on this and raising the voice against this gambling game which could ultimately effect common-man coz our obsesssion for the game will rise the cost of services, we live daily. Billion-dollared Big businesses should be run only run by public-listed-companies.
If you ALL get this point, I am sure u will start to realise, what I am talking about.
I will not watch IPL..I will watch ICL.
I will not watch Sony TV..I will watch ZeeTV.
I will not buy tickets in Stadium for IPL..I will buy tickets in Stadium for ICL
I will not buy Reliance Petrol..I will buy IndianOil Regular/XtraPremium
I will not subscribe to DeccanChronicle Newspaper..I will subsribe to TIMESOFINDIA
I will not buy ChennaiIndiaCements...I will buy Ambuja Cements for my house
I will not see SharukhKhan's movies..I will watch AmeerKhan's movies
I will not Fly KingFisher...I will fly JetAirways/SpiceJet
I will not watch STAR-TV (low-brand-valued-Australians owning the Jaipur team)...I will watch ZeeTV (hamara Indian) channels.
When I can live my life happily with easy alternative options, why should I watch IPL. Never.

Hi I agree with you to some extent. There is a lot of money power being shown by BCCI these days. Hearing about all the people who left the BCCI control to join ICL, I think that they needs to be welcomed back into Indian cricket. Just because ICL cam, then BCCI thought bout IPL..The credit should go to th former actually..

I also want my own league. Why only BCCI and Zee TV. My friends Ballu also wants his own after exams. We are looking for alternate cement companies to sponsor. If not we will get some chawanprash or condom company. WE ALL WANT OUR OWN LEAGUES.
