by Varun on Mar 20, 2008 10:35 AM

Look. These all idots are talking about the reservation in cricket. I think inke paida hone pe bhi god ko reservation lagana tha, jaise ki - sar se gardan tak SC, gardan se chest tak, ST, chest se anus tak BC and baaki OC etc.
all thse guys talking abt reservation in sports are just nuts and bolts. they lost their mind and don have any other work but to come here and talk something, untolerant, unjustified, and absolutely nonsense about sports.
U reservation blunded people, simply, sucks....

I feel this is all politics...
since Nel threatened that he will join ICL, CSA had 2 reconsider everything but noway they could have found a place for him under current norms. SO they did back door adjustments. They would have forced Langeveldt to back off this tour, and thus make Nel available now. Dirty politics.

Who said we dont have reservation in sports? In cricket, we have 90% reservation for Brahmins. That is why, unfit players like WV Raman, Ganguly, Srinath, Kumble have made it to the team. If not for Azharuddin, Robin Singh would not have made it to the team. Come and check out the proceedings at TNCA, it is Iyengars Vs Iyers politics. Players with natural fitness are sure 'no no' for TNCA..

Excluding srinath(becos he is no more playing cricket)ganguly and kumble are yet delivering!!! look at kumble's stamina to bowl non-stop in test and ganguly's patience to be at crease. If you term this as sticking then yes they stick to their palce and deserve to be in playing 11. They are not like uttappa's and yuvraj's - seasonal performers!!!

Emperor Ashoka
RE:Reservations in sports
by Emperor Ashoka on Mar 19, 2008 01:08 PM
Mr. Karthikeyan Ramasway, you may be right about Iyers vs. Iyengars politics in TNCA. In any case people like me who are outsiders will not know the factual position.

But your anguish with such politics should not make you a dumb, blind and foolish person to talk about W V Raman. He was given opportunity to play in just one test match by the most illustrious captain ever to have led India - Gavaskar. In that test against WI in WI, Raman made 94 runs in one innings. Then this fellow was dropped from Indian team unceremoniously.

Same was the treatment meted out to another splendid batsman of TN, going by the name of T.E. Srinivasan. He played against Australia in Australia and scored 90 odd runs in one innings, thereafter dropped like hot potatoe, never to return again.

At the national level, for a long time, players from Mumbai, Karnataka and Delhi used to dominate.

Thanks to TV coverage and consequent widespread awareness and interest, we now have players from UP, Jharkhand, Baroda, Punjab, Kerala etc.

If anybody is worried about national pride in sports events, there can be no place for regional, linguistic, caste, religious considerations and the best players should make it to the team irrespective of all these manmade divisions of society. As rightly pointed out, besides talents and skills in the particular sports, physical or match fitness should also be a must.

India Should Follow South Africa
by Sanjay Ranawat on Mar 19, 2008 11:00 AM  | Hide replies

South Africa is showing the way for India. It is very sad indeed for a secular state like India. Atleast now we should implement reservartion for SC,ST & OBCs,Dalits, Muslims, christians for our teams in Ranji Trophy, Senior & Junior Teams & IPL Also. The Only way forward for a level playing field for Minorities and other weaker sections is to implement quota system in all our sports including cricket. For this, why not we make Lalu yadav or Arjun Singh, Karunanidhi or Paswan as President of BCCI? Such stalwarts will surely make India No 1 in all the sports fields. They should immediately pay attention to sports so that india becomes No 1 in all the sports and in Olympics.

you are right. reservation is right unless you give it to all of indians. why dont you include Oc also in the list. or else take the population and give reservation on that count or in economic ground. But this is not for sports. i am saying this for all places where reservation is currently applied.
