In your blind admiration for Sachin, you have become too narrow to focus on what Manjrekar said of Sachin.
You do not for a moment realize that Sachin has been more indifferent about performing his role in the team than the likes of Sehwag and Yuvi, over the last few years, starting from the finals of WC 2003.
It was an excellent ploy on the part of Dhoni, arguably the finest ODI captain in the world today, to have needled Sachin to perform, showing superb guts to do this, despite the administration, media, commentators and selection committee being overloaded with people who are willing to go an extra mile to close their eyes to continued failures of Sachin in crucial moments, putting on pedestal personal landmarks and relegating to the backyard team interests.
Long live the likes of dare devil Dhonis. We wish the team all the very best, care a foot for personal glory of anyone, however great.
P.S.: The very same Dhoni deserves accolades for having kept Viru away, Dada and Dravid in the dumps, and giving chances to players like Pravin Kumar, Piyush Chawla, Rohit Sharma, Ishant Sharma etc. One hopes that players like Chawla, Raina, Tiwari etc. also find regular place in the ODIs henceforth and all oldies are kept away.

Wow. . . You place him at no. 5, above many more greats like Vishy, Azhar, Manjrekar, Shastri, Yuvi, and the whole bunch of yougnsters. Still you call him selfish and pathetic. God help the others in your list (no. #6 onwards..). Dunno what your esteemed thoughts would be about those poor souls.

No doubt my dear friend Sachin is the best batsman in the world but he is all time No.1 cricketer in the world. Previously there were no videos & cameras to analyze the weaknesses of cricketer but now a days there are videos, close circuit cameras & advance technology to analyze the weaknesses of the cricketer despite that he is performing consistantly from the last 19 years.Surely Sachin is the best of all time,he is great & down to earth person as he was 19 years ago.Success never go into his head. He is great.
