Sachin a real match winner
by sunil vyas on Mar 10, 2008 06:07 PM  | Hide replies

India%u2019s win in Australia was just unthinkable without the support of this legend, just see, Sachin scored highest runs in all 3 three matches that India won in Australia or India would have definitely lost all 3 matches and even India wouldn%u2019t have reached the finals. Anybody who knows cricket deeply will easily understand this fact. Even in first final it was Sachin who made Rohit to make a stand with him, also everybody knows that when Sachin is at one end then he just makes the batting easier for the partner as the whole focus and strategy of opponents is on Sachin and also Sachin keeps on giving tips on different types of bowling. Facing the new ball was main and the only problem of Indian batsman and Sachin just made it look very easy by keeping his wicket intact in initial attacking over and then attacking very sensibly and intelligently. Even in second final it was Sachin who made Utthappa to make stand for a big partnership of 94 runs, hence proved Sachin is a big team man who gets along with any player. So in all it was Sachin who made the big difference. After Sachin young bowlers r to be given the credit and not the young batsman.

Beware India
by Dinesh Balani on Mar 10, 2008 01:26 PM

The South Africans will be here shortly & they would be having the 20/20 defeat in mind & will come on Strongly...Remember they have beaten teams like Pakistan & Bangladesh in the subcontinent & conditions in India will suite them..Though India still would be the toughest opponent for them , SA should be regarded atpar with Australia when it comes to playing in India..So BEWARE TEAM INDIA & CARRY THE MOMENTUM BUT DONT GET CARRIED AWAY.........

will get a chance in IPL
by Kavita Oberoi on Mar 10, 2008 09:53 AM  | Hide replies

All the aspirants for places in the Indian team get their chances in the IPL tournament. Since the field will be strong with a lot of international players in the fray the competition will be tough and good performances will be rewarded well by the selectors. So boys go for it. You have your chances.

Test team against SA
by CricFan01 on Mar 10, 2008 05:56 AM

3 pacers Zaheer, RP Singh and Ishant (if fit), otherwise otherwise Sreesanth and 2 spinners (Kumble and Chawla) plus part time spin from Sehwag and Tendulkar. Sehwag and Gambhir should open. Jaffer is too inconsistent and not a great fielder.

vengskar plz look at others also.
there r many players performing on domestic circuit consistently. but their achievements r not even looked at by the biased selectors who r pressurised by ad agents to take their players.
there r many like akash chopra, shikhar dhawan, cheteshwar pujara, parthiv patel, and many more (others may like to add) who r consistently toiling on the home soil but without any attention of selectors.
sangwan performed well in delhi ranji team and now in u-19 wc hero deserves mention. iqbal abdulla and ravi jadeja the backbone of spin deptt of u-19. read abt another u-19 player mohnish parmar, spinner, who has been one among the highest wkt takers.
give chances to them who r performing consistently. else what is the use of so many domestic matches.

Long Way Ahead

Raina and Rohit Sharma has some similarities in their charecter. They both are briliant batsmen, fantastic fielders, Outstandingly cool and young. But Raina had messed up his own career. 36 matches are pretty good enough to prove your mettle. But after some fantastic start, he failed miserably in the later part of his career. He is responsible for warming his a*s on the bench. Now it seems pretty tough for him to be in the playing 11 unless untill some miracle(e.g. injury/bad form of any middle order player)happens.

But still I believe he can be in Playing 11 coz he is brilliant(may be better than Ganguly in terms of game & fielding if not in runs)

Raina's biggest problem is his shot selection, many times he got out due to poor shots. He also has to improve his leg side strokes to be successful in the long run. Last time when he played for India, he was not able to get away the short pitched deliveries directed at his body and then would get out trying to play some shots.
