But should be Yuvi in place of Ganguly and Harbhajan back in the team in place of Murali Karthik, certainly a world beating team in India conditions. (My personal opinion.) Sorry Ganguly fans but I never regarded highly of Ganguly as a test batsman barring his first 4 years in International cricket wnen he averaged over 50 and was a real asset to the test team.

If the myopic sinecures who visit rediff discussion forum imagining themselves to be experts have not learnt any lesson from the CB series win in Australia, they are welcome to shout from their roof-tops about non inclusion of Ganguly, Dravid, Kumble, Kaif etc. in my team.

I do NOT for a moment think that my team will win every test they play. But still this should be the team. No discussion, no arguments, no rebuttals, no nonsense.

Yuvraj - because Ranbir is now officially dating you know who and Yuvi had declared in a media interview after making 76 against Srilanka that he felt as though a bad omen had left his body!

On a more serious note, he can be a destructive and match winning batsman for India in home conditions against the SA bowling attack.

You can see that my first choice is Pankaj Singh and not Munaf. Munaf may get the nod since he has a little bit of experience and better bowlers like Zaheer and RP are not fit as per reports.

The most important thing is to keep off bowlers like Agarkar, V R V Singh, Ramesh Powar, Kumble..

Yuvraj is a match winner on his day and more so in home conditions against SA bowling, should get the nod ahead of Ganguly or any other youngster.

Since Zaheer, R P Singh are reportedly not fit, either Pankaj Singh or Munaf Patel should get in.

U r caught in time warp. Wake up, We are living in post T20 era. India is no longer dreaming to be champions thru some mysterios PROCESSES. They are already champions thru straight forward approach. Ganguly and Dravid are now part of history so try to live in present. By the way, the reoubtable youngsters are assets of the Indian team because they are Indian boys and not because Chappel said so. Also note, the youngsters chosen by Chappel are mostly out of frame.

Aisi baat nahin hain.

we indulge in a lot of self-adulation and delirium. but, it is always worthwhile to point out and admit your deficiencies, and then improve on them.

the primary issue today is that half-baked, second grade players (like most of the present squad) and not only playing but ruling the roost with exorbitant amount of money and big-talk,

this kind of crap has to be written and commented about, at the least.

You can write about anything and express your genuine opinion about anything and open to response.

That some how is only a rarity. Self adulation is not bad neither is some good critisizum abviously towards construction.

And there is no such thing as half backed second grade. Those are set by the results u can get and they just proved they are not that.
Yeah they are making some exophbarant amounts. But none of that is there fault. It is the order of the day. People are making lot of money cos of the booming economy. real estate is booming like crazy and people today are making crazy money without even any talent.

Just a win against Australia in 23 world doesn't mean anything.I don't want to be a spoilsport but Australia lost similarly against England before 2007 ODI WC and in that world cup India was evicted in the first round itself on the other hand Australia emerged champs.India had to play consistent and good cricket.Dhoni shouldn't play politics and should remain firm on the ground.

absolutely, this one rare win means nothing. in fact, only in the last two matches did we play well (and Aus played really badly). early part of the tournament almost had us exiting!

the point is that nowadays, even before you achieve anything substantial, the society/media makes too much out of you. this is the age of mediocrity.

it took Gavaskar/Kapil 10 yrs and more for half this recognition, and nowadays two-bit sloggers like DHOBI get hundred times that in 4 years!!

nothing great is going to come out of all this tamasha. get ready for an era of boring mediocrity and cheap thrills

That just the order of the day and the booming Indian economy. Am sure you earning much more then your father though he porpably had slogged much more than you.Atleast it is the case with me.

But Dhoni needs to be praised for his performance. The rewards he is reeping might be the order of time and nothing to do with anything. Its like real estate these days it is booming more then ever.

yes, there is always inflation with time. I agree with that KSatish.

but the rest of your argument is the typical "chalta hain" type of talk everyone dishes out these days.

what do you mean "ewards he is reeping might be the order of time and nothing to do with anything"?

even by today's ridiculous tamasha standards DHOBI is getting way more than anything he can possibly deserve.

this is madness! explaining it away by your logic is even sadder. only because of this kind of attitude I guess BCCI, the corporate suckers and two-bit players like DHOBI are enjoying this tamasha.

donot take it personally, but it is sad when people start explaning away any crap with inane logic. is there no notion of a boundary line for anything?

am not taking anything persnel.

But these things need no boundaries. These are being governed by market dynamics for the first time which is good.
Cricketer in idna have had Godly status but were never paid through cricket like a god.
I mean the cricket craziness in india is much more then movie btu did they ever make so much for being real heros . No! because they were younger and not governed by market dynamics.
If they were always had then they would never have been the match fixing era.
Think about it. Sports men all over the world have been given riches for the fandom they got why not indians?

agree with market dynamics.

but all that is going on now is not due to market dynamics. it is also a function of the transitory mess the society is going through.

anyway, we are mostly aligned.

Enjoy!

Don't want to dampen the enthu about India's sudden rise in the cricketing world but has anyone thought about what will happen this yr at the Olympics. Will our athletes do anything other than take in the sites of Beijing?? Will India again have not medals? 1 billion people and all we care about is cricket? Its completely insane.

After all, 12 or so countries play cricket and there are no medals awarded for this boring sport. We have completely forgotten about hockey or any other sports!!!

NO SURPRISE! the same old thing about 400 nitwits making their "phoren" trip, and returning with 'shopping' in their suitcases in place of medals.

Why are you so puzzled about this long-standing reputation of ours Sudip??

When, only when we play consistently like OZ. We win one test and then loose next. Like OZ play consistently by winning 10 tests in a row and then talk big.

So the team which wins one test and loses another is clearly not high on your list Terence. What say you about Sydney up, and Perth down, then Adelaide drawn and then CB series lost by a team called Australia?
What do you think about them? They still make a lot of noise you know.. :-)
