All u people who r criticising dhoni did any one notice tha the didnt lift the trophy, he was standing in the corner on the podium, he asked the youngest guy piyush chawla to first lift the trophy?? HE has made 347 runs and 21 dismissals. He is the third highest run scorer, just 50 runs or so less than sachin's runs in the series. He praised and backed sachin when it was required. He is praising other guys more because it was their first tour to Australia and many of them have not even played 50 matches.

We won becoz of team effort. everyone scored or took wickets in one match or the other
Just chill n enjoy the game!!

Good Job team India!!!!
by Sachin on Mar 07, 2008 10:39 AM  | Hide replies

Off late i was reading the discussion board, lot of things has been said about tendulkar....individual performances and so on.Why don't we put it in simple terms. Everyone cannot play well in each and every match. It is matter of 2-3 good performances in each match and support by other team members. Same thing happened in OZ tour as well. When sachin dod't bat well gambhir did and sharma did, others supported them verywell. When gambhir did't perform yuvi did and others supported verywell. Even in case of our bowlers when strike bowlers did well other bowlers responded very well, when strike bowlers did't pick wickets our first change and second chnage bowlers did. And overall we had a great support in fielding also. And it is normal that ineach and evevry match one or two cannot perform that well. So overall it is a good team effort. Yes sachin is great but with out a good team nobody can win matches. Correct me if i am wrong i thinbk we won 16 ODI's in row under dravid's captaincy and i think sachin was not in the team due to some injuries. So people in this victory just don't praise the individual...please do praise our team india. And i wish team india to do it consistently.

Please do put in your thoughts.

Cheers
Sachin

Do u really believe that the last three innings of Sachin would have come if Dhoni had not driven him out of his comfort zone?

who said Sachin was in a comfort zone..dude, in cricket bad form happens to any person..he was out of sorts only in 3 matches, especially he got out to good balls and couldn't spend time in middle..doesn't mean that he was not trying or something..don't pass your judgements without knowing whats going on inside..say he played badly, acceptable but don't say he didn't try or practice..that'll be a great injustice to a man who is the most dedicated

Nice Said, If we analyze, In first few matches Sachin was out in 30's & 40's then in few he out early.. but his last 3 innings was remarkable. He is totally in control. what abt other batsman are doing...."Shuru mein hum toh wait kar rahe the Srilanka hare toh hum final mein jayenge". Because he was out in such good deliveries. Simply we can say 'Sachin & Bowlers won this cup for us.... & Dhoni is like Aandhe ke haanth mein bater lagna.......

Dhoni is an idiot...just getting a win or two on basis of tendulkar's performance cannot make him a good leader. Player is onw who does and adjust with other...Where were dhoni's batting skills in test match.......Ppl love or hate a personwho speaks more doestnt matter sensible or not as time passes on laughing on such foolishness...so is with dhoni.............he is the worst cricketer in last 20 yrs......by any records....

For your kind info with due respect to Sir Sachin tendulkar, i wasnna point out that Sachin didnt play in T20. Lets give credit where it is deserved. Sachin is great .. no one will have an other word abt it. CB cup was an team effort, sachin contributed in last two matches. Dhoni had confidence in all his men and managed the team well, his bowling changes, his field settings were all good. if you see the youngsters are enjoying their game, there is no tension seen. This shows that dhoni has made the team feel comfortable, when captain has confidence in you and boost you up .. you would surely perform.

PART 2-WHAT SYDNEY MORNING HERALD WROTE ABOUT SACHIN AFTER WIN IN 2 FINALS
by Rakesh Kukreti on Mar 07, 2008 10:29 AM

If the seamer was nonplussed by this offering, he must have been startled by the batsman's next creation as a good length delivery was blasted past him off the back foot. Few men have been able to play the straight pull. The Indian also took delight in guiding lifters over the slips, the shot that kept the score rattling along in Sydney. Nor is he content merely to elude the catchers. Depending on the field, he places the ball wide or fine. At one stage at the Gabba, Ricky Ponting sent two colleagues to patrol the third-man boundary whereupon the batsman sent the ball between them. It is difficult enough to find the gaps with orthodox strokes. Tendulkar is also adept at developing singles off accurate deliveries. Either he stuns the ball towards gully and scampers or he steers the ball behind point with a stroke reminiscent of a monarch knighting a favoured admiral. Accordingly he does not allow pressure to build. After a bright start, Tendulkar pushed the score along steadily, biding his time and allowing fresher partners to take risks. Throughout a contentious trip these tourists played with tenacity and audacity. It has been a colossal struggle between an ageing champion and a bold challenger

PART 1-WHAT SYDNEY MORNING HERALD WROTE ABOUT SACHIN AFTER WIN IN 2 FINALS
by Rakesh Kukreti on Mar 07, 2008 10:28 AM

part from the frenzied finish and the curious outbreak of tackles on the field, the abiding memory of the match came from Tendulkar's bat. The first final, in Sydney, had produced one of the game's finest chasing innings. Accordingly, reporters hoped for a second helping from the maestro. Happily he obliged with a superb effort in the second final. Magnificent in Sydney, Tendulkar produced another well paced innings. Tendulkar looked comfortable from the first ball. At such times his bat appears as wide as the Suez Canal. The straight drive is the cornerstone of his batting and he plays it perfectly. To this solid foundation he adds fertile strokes square of the wicket and improvisations executed with imagination and dexterity. But the drive past the bowler tells the tale. It is an immaculate stroke unfurled without any hint of flamboyance. Spectators find in it the same satisfaction as a mathematician does in a formula. Tendulkar does not indulge himself at the crease. His style is not a style at all, merely his way of scoring runs. Even the apparently cheeky upper cut and the reverse sweep aired yesterday take into account score and field. He calculates and then commits. Not that every straight drive is the same. Normally the ball is punched past the bowler with an abbreviated swing. Facing Stuart Clark, he adjusted his stroke, rolled his writs at impact and still managed to send the ball speeding past deep mid-on.

Great Going Dhoni...
by Anand on Mar 07, 2008 10:12 AM

Dhoni is doing a good thing by encouraging youngsters then only they can be a good asset for our country. He is not praising sachin bz he is also a fan of sachin and he knows sachin does not need his support but the youngsters need that support and dhoni is fully contributing. He also knows there is few players in our team who can play long innings like sachin. If sachin retires who can do such kind of innings. You praise youngster but last cup india won only bz of sachin u cant forget that also..If sachin had not scored that 63 against srilanka lanka would have easily gone to finals..In finals if sachin doest hit that 100 ,,,,2nd final only bz of his 91 we made a good score otherwise..??? Dhoni should give good support to sachin so that he can be in indian team with his same form till next world cup ...otherwise we lose a great cricketer ...

Youth and Experience
by indira on Mar 07, 2008 10:09 AM

Having a youthful team is good for the future. But one can not ignore or forget the contributions of the seniors for Indian cricket. Winning the tournments are vrey important but it shouldn't be the only criteria to judge the players.Consistency of the performance should also be taken into account, irrespective of the result. Success of a team doesn't depend upon a single player but all the players.Every one should contribute. If we have to judge a player by how many tournaments he had won for his team, then even Brian Lara will be called an unsuccessful player. But one can not deny the fact that the amount of joy one gets by watching players like Sachin, Lara, Dada and Dravid. When they retire, we will remember them only for their batting style, their shots, drives etc and the pleasure we used to derive from watching them play.
The present team has the nucleus for developing into one of the best teams. But the players should show consistency and have passion for the game. They should remember that these two qualities that made Sachin, Lara,Dravid, Dada and Kumble to play so many years of entertaining cricket.

Dhoni's Youth team
by suman das on Mar 07, 2008 10:01 AM  | Hide replies

Everybody is writing and speaking about Dhoni's Youth team. Is it really the youth team made the difference? Just remove Sachin's score , or Sachin's presence from this Youth team. The skeleton will become clear then. We can say about Dhoni's Youth bowlers. In that we should count only Praveen Kumar , as Ishant Sharma was also in Kumble's test Team.
If someday Sachin takes rest in ODI , I'll like to see the youths' performance.

Dude..chasing a score of 240 and making a 100 should be the easiest thing to do(easy scoring rate ..opening batsman..no risk required)..and on top of that all other players are supposed to play like they have to support sachin..The game shouldn't be so one person centric..

Did tendulkar score..any big runs while chasing 300 score..he wont score more than 10 most of the time..

The knock of Gambhir (century) againt the aussies when they made 300 is more courageous than his 100 in finals.

If though we lost that match ..that was a moral booster

I really don't understand if someone tells that it is an easy thing scoring a ton at the opening slot while chasing a score of 240 against a team like australia.Every thing said and done dhoni is going saurav's way in his arrogance while criticizing the performance of tendulkar. He is making a fool of himself and swallowing his own words.

Bhai..

I have no doubts about sachin ability and he is god..but if we have to win we dont need god..

If you ask me do we need another sachin..my answer will be no..we need more Ishant and Gambhir and uthappa.

If we get another Sachin you know what will happen..

1) Media/ex-players will hype sachin is the key before any final game. If he gets out others will fall like nine pins.

2) If sachin does not play well..Reason will be he doesn't have a good partner. lets change his partner. That might bring him back to form

3)One fine day sachin will think/decide ball is moving a lot I should come at no 4 in this series. Captain will have no option.

We don't need these heavyweights yaar.
One was enough.

Desi dear,
u talk a lot.Only if u cud think that much.
Sachin will be happily and gratefully accepted in ANY team of the world...If ur team cant handle a star player thats ur poor fortune.
Ur point:-1) Media/ex-players will hype sachin is the key before any final game. If he gets out others will fall like nine pins.

Justification:- Did sachin asked them to,dont they have balls of their own to stand and perform.
Similarly i can lambast all ur idiotic points, but i wont.Put ur own brain and then blabber.

Desi, I agree. Nothing to take away from Sachin's greatness, I would really like to see for Sachin score well when the asking rate is 6 . I think he has not done that for a long time in the recent past. One innings like that will take away every iota of doubt anyone may have about his capabilities.

Remember even the pommies had defeated the ugly Aussies in the last Finals in identical fashion, so are they also the champions, I am not taking anything out from this victory,Team India should remeber that this is the first step for success and not that this is the pinnacle of sucess. This victory should be a milestone and not a goal. This victory should be treated on par with any other victory over any other team or else we will be like the English team.
So dont get carried away by this and all this felecitation was not required for showing of political strength or cricket money.Money could have been distributed in a simple function and not the way it was done.
Anyway Well done Team India carry on the good work.

Dhoni is a good captain but....
by Shital on Mar 07, 2008 09:51 AM

Congratulations to Dhoni and the Indian team for giving the taste of defeat to the Aussies. Absolutely good performance!!
I believe that Dhoni and Kumble are very good captains and was specifically impressed and surprised by the calculated aggression shown by Kumble during the Harbhajan controversy.
Neverthless, I have been thinking all the time as to why Dhoni never commented on Yuvraj Singh's performance? Is it to do in any ways with the political links that Yuvraj Singh has? If that is the case then the team may stumble in the future.
