Congratulations to MSD and Co. for 1st Tri Series victory over Aussies in their home
by Sneha on Mar 27, 2008 03:08 PM

Dear Mahi & men,

Heaps & heaps of best wishes to all of you for making the 'impossible into possible' by winning the Tri Series against Australia on their own home ground, a feat which no Indian team ever achieved for the past 21 year long span.
Happiness & celebrations just poured in like rain showers in India. The celebrations which were the consequence of your precious efforts, didn't just allow anybody to rest..... everyone was on his toes to welcome you all.
Special congratulations to Master Blaster and Kumar for their significant contributions. Sachin's 117 & 91 in the 1st and last finals were immensely appreciating performances.P.K. is also going great and hope he'll, in future too.
The boy with a golden touch, Irfan really turned the tables on the Aussies.Mahi, your decision to hand over the responsibility of the final over to Irfan, really proved right.Irfan, too, lived up to your faith in him and handled the pressure of the last spell with aplomb. So, a huge bundle of congratulations to him too.He really applied a final golden touch.
You really proved your strength and calibre by beating the World Champions on their homeland, they would now, may be, fear to even step on the Brisbane ground with our team as the opponent. The pride which they held for so many years was crushed and they were made to believe that the era of their reign can also be disrupted.

Do gift us many such moments of joy, ahead and all the best for future, too.

Sneha S. T, from Mumbai

PART 2-WHAT SYDNEY MORNING HERALD WROTE ABOUT SACHIN AFTER WIN IN 2 FINALS
by Rakesh Kukreti on Mar 07, 2008 10:25 AM

If the seamer was nonplussed by this offering, he must have been startled by the batsman's next creation as a good length delivery was blasted past him off the back foot. Few men have been able to play the straight pull. The Indian also took delight in guiding lifters over the slips, the shot that kept the score rattling along in Sydney. Nor is he content merely to elude the catchers. Depending on the field, he places the ball wide or fine. At one stage at the Gabba, Ricky Ponting sent two colleagues to patrol the third-man boundary whereupon the batsman sent the ball between them. It is difficult enough to find the gaps with orthodox strokes. Tendulkar is also adept at developing singles off accurate deliveries. Either he stuns the ball towards gully and scampers or he steers the ball behind point with a stroke reminiscent of a monarch knighting a favoured admiral. Accordingly he does not allow pressure to build. After a bright start, Tendulkar pushed the score along steadily, biding his time and allowing fresher partners to take risks. Throughout a contentious trip these tourists played with tenacity and audacity. It has been a colossal struggle between an ageing champion and a bold challenger.

PART 1-WHAT SYDNEY MORNING HERALD WROTE ABOUT SACHIN AFTER WIN IN 2 FINALS
by Rakesh Kukreti on Mar 07, 2008 10:24 AM

Apart from the frenzied finish and the curious outbreak of tackles on the field, the abiding memory of the match came from Tendulkar's bat. The first final, in Sydney, had produced one of the game's finest chasing innings. Accordingly, reporters hoped for a second helping from the maestro. Happily he obliged with a superb effort in the second final. Magnificent in Sydney, Tendulkar produced another well paced innings. Tendulkar looked comfortable from the first ball. At such times his bat appears as wide as the Suez Canal. The straight drive is the cornerstone of his batting and he plays it perfectly. To this solid foundation he adds fertile strokes square of the wicket and improvisations executed with imagination and dexterity. But the drive past the bowler tells the tale. It is an immaculate stroke unfurled without any hint of flamboyance. Spectators find in it the same satisfaction as a mathematician does in a formula. Tendulkar does not indulge himself at the crease. His style is not a style at all, merely his way of scoring runs. Even the apparently cheeky upper cut and the reverse sweep aired yesterday take into account score and field. He calculates and then commits. Not that every straight drive is the same. Normally the ball is punched past the bowler with an abbreviated swing. Facing Stuart Clark, he adjusted his stroke, rolled his writs at impact and still managed to send the ball speeding past deep mid-on.

Wake Up BCCI, Indian cricketers were disrespected in Australia!!
by Himalay on Mar 06, 2008 06:14 PM

Cricket Australia & ICC conduct of the just concluded Ind-Aus cricket sereis was totally unjust towards the Indians. Aussies do not deserve their hegemony of world cricket, bcos of their poor attitude, sportsmanship & ethics.
ICC is too biased towards the white cricketing world. ICC is functioning as Cricket Board for white cricketing world only. ICC deserves to be banned, it is too biased to do any good for cricket. "WAKE UP BCCI" show atleast half of the courage what these kids showed in Australia.

BCCI has to ensure that all the wrong deceisions which India got in this sereis, starting from the first Test has to be undone on Australia's next tour to India, lets see how aussies win in India in the next twenty years then, in case of criticism you can always give the excuse that over a cricketers career these deceisions even out (as aussies hv to justify their cheatings). This has to be simply done, Indian cricketers does not deserve to be treated with such disrespect as aussies hv metted out to them & there is no other way to counter it.

Match fixing!
by cool analyzer on Mar 06, 2008 01:08 AM  | Hide replies

I think there is match fixing going on. The ICC and BCCI have a hand in it. India is a huge market for cricket. If India wins there will be more popularity. The finals was just a drama. If they played truely, Aussies would have won. It is a very well planned game just for marketing gains!

Funny blog!
by Praveen Kumar on Mar 06, 2008 12:34 AM

Here is a funny blog written by one English cricket fan:

After loosing the final of the CBS, some of the Aussie players are considering other careers.

It has been reliably learnt (in the Aussie press) that Symonds and Clarke have decided to change their careers and would soon join rugby league. One of the newspapers also promised to produce evidence of the same. This development may hurt Aussie cricket as already Hayden has announced his intentions about taking up boxing.

They were seen practicing at GABBA last night and demonstrated considerable skills. After loosing all the hopes of getting Tendulkar out by cricketing means, Clarke managed to tackle the 'strong' Tendulkar and walked away like a winner. Symonds was attracted towrds the masculine streaker and tackled him with gay enthusiasm.

Clarke may also take up fishing if rugby does not work out for him. It is rumoured that the rugby teams in the leage are excited in anticipation of his arrival.

If both options do not work out, then he may join Channel 9 commentary team so that he can do some Pom bashing in the next Ashes series sitting in the secured commentary box.

Symonds already is being poured with offers from San Francisco's Gay bars as a bouncer, as an alternate career.

Now we know why Gilly decided to call it a day (so early)! He stands out!! He will be missed all over the world for sure! Hopefully Lee does not get affected by these new developments and continues to play the brand of cricket

Congtatulations India
by S Hegde on Mar 05, 2008 07:31 PM

Congratulations to Dhoni, and his team mates. It's a team sport and the team won.
Now 1983 we did the same thing and when came back to India, the Indian team was the same old poor performer. Let's see if this team can keep the consistency.
Btw, India's win is mainly because of our Bowling, which was aided by the good pitch and conditions in Australia. In India, the same bowlers may not work, specially Praveen Kumar, Ifran, who don't have real pace. We saw how Balwinder Sandhu, Madan Lal, Jimmy Amernath did well in 83, but in India they failed. We had Joginder Singh, and Yousuf Pathan doing well in T20 finals, but they are not in the team now. We will see how many of these young folks stands test of time. I think Gautham, Rohit and Ishant have class, but others I am not sure.

It's a team sport each member contributes. Just like Sachin should not be blamed for the some of the Indias's failures in the finals. Sachin supports like me, are trying to make that point by focusing on Sachin.
