Amazing Commitment
by roshan agrawala on Mar 05, 2008 04:44 AM

THe best thing about sachin is , his bat speaks to his critics. There are some indian players who could never served Indian team like sachin did, and they just don't want to miss any opportunity against sachin. But sachin's has always sent them to hibernation. And it will go on, i am sure. Now where is Manjrekar or Kapil Dev ?? Lets take example against australia ? Did indian team ever dominated australia without sachin's contribution ?? more than 80% of the matches that india won against australia are when sachin contributed significantly. When he doesn't perform, india doesn't win. Ponting, Gilly, Hayden never got a chance to play against the greats like Brett Lee, Shane Warne, McGrath, Bracken. Did they face them, it would have been an entire different story about their performances. But Sachin not only faced them through out his career, but was successfull as well. Now he is again No.1 ODI batsman in ICC ranking, even after so many injuries, unnecessary criticism from his own country/media/old team mates. Thats truely amazing. Who says he didn't play well in last year or so ? He won the maximum Man of the matches and Man of the series awards for India in the last 1 and half year, both in test and ODIs. And to me, a man of the match award means a match winning performance. And no other player in the world even comes near to his number of man of the match awards. That explains. But u know what ? Dogs bark from the back. So let them bark.

Critics
by Bigthree on Mar 04, 2008 10:11 PM  | Hide replies

Meaning of the word critic is - meaning a person who offers reasoned judgment or analysis, value judgment, interpretation, or observation. So, a critic should appreciate good work and should expose bad work in equal measure. If Manjraker criticized sachin with an upright and honest attitude, what prevents him to come out openly and acknowledge the match winning performances of Sachin in the matches that followed. Thats the reason most sane people in this forum think that he is jealous of sachin that he just tries to exploit the slightest possible opportunity to bring sachin down.
To Sachin haters: Instead of writing hundreds of lines of trash against Sachin, can one of you take time, analyze performances of other cricketers' performance in similar situations (be it finals or chases or batting performances against Aus etc.,) and present the same in this forum and justify with statistics that other cricketers made difference to their teams in a way Sachin did not.

Well! There are numerous cricketers like Lara, Ponting, Ganguly, Dravid, Laxman, Sangakarra, Inzi, Aravinda, Hayden, Gilly, Bevan etc., who are special cricketrs and match winners in their own way. All these compete with each other fiercely. But, the one that differentiates Sachin from the rest is - Fans all over the world enjoy watching Sachin bat cutting across national boundaries because he has made big difference in several matches with his influential batting consistently for 18 years.

Sachin is no match winner!
by zindaa hoon on Mar 04, 2008 06:37 AM  | Hide replies

No doubt Sachin is a great batsman with largest number of records. Even Dhoni
acknowledged that much the other day.
But why does he care about records so much? Isn't he satisfied? If he had
somewhat less number of records, will it reduce his income? Why was he so
angry with Rahul Dravid that he deprived him of a double century in Pak in
Multan in 2004? He needed those extra 8 runs for his personal RECORDS, but the
team certainly didn't need them. But that never matters for Sachin. He wants
those personal records, whether team benefits from them or not. In any case,
he does not have the capability to win matches single-handedly for India. For
example, Kapil Paji won that match against Zimbabwe in WC 83, by scoring 175
runs. And he was a bowler who could bat. And here is supposedly the greatest
batsman on earth, who has never even come close to playing an innings like
that. And, trust me on this, he never will! Actually, Sachin scored a 3 ball
duck in a do-or-die match against SL in WC 07. The target was only 255 and
Sehwag had already given a decent start in that match.

Let us just give these Sachin and India haters back. Let us pay in their own coin. This us exactly what our team did to quieten the Aussies. If we all make an effort we can stop this nonsense on this sight and talk about real cricket.

I am sure all of you are creative enough to find a way to get these morons shut up.

The poor fellow can never get it right with his "fans", it seems. Even his centuries are written off as portents to consecutive lackluster performances in the remaining matches. It seems he resurrects from the depths of underperformance only to be beaten down again by insatiable "fans." He is one of those cursed few who are as much loved as hated.

An incessant barrage of criticism can either forge consistency out of a much-disparaged player or exhaust his love for the game. I hope for the former. Else, the "fans" can thank themselves for getting a sportsman they deserve.

Sachin played a wonderful innings no doubt. He scored at almost a run a ball still hitting only 10 boundaries. We should be happy that he can still produce such innings. The flip side is that we can never have the Sachin that we did durin 96-01 or during the 03 wc. We win matches but we dont get the joy of his wonderful pull shots or extravagent cover drives. Nevertheless he is a gem who is still much much better than most players currently. Gr8 innings

The greatest batting genius of all times - Sir Sachin Tendulker
by Bob Gordon on Mar 04, 2008 01:12 AM  | Hide replies

Whatever the critical morans talk bad about Sachin clearly indicates that they are losers, not him. The way he innovates the game is amazing, and so entertaining. Those 3 fours over the head of Gilly (WK) showed what a class act he can do. His 'crowd-pulling' skills are unequal. Once, when I went to see an ODI in India, I noticed that nearly two-thirds of the crowd leaving the stadium as soon as he got out for a 50 runs score. That is his power. Most cricketing revenue for India is because of him, and these jealous morans cry against his riches, which he earned by himself and not by floating stocks. It is not easy money. It is earned by him. Well, he fails once in a while because he is not a machine. What about the rest of the team? They must take the responsibility too.
For ODIs, we now have Gambhir to replace the great Ganguli, and Rohit to replace the great Dravid. But, we will never have a replacement for this genius. It will be the saddest day for the cricket world when Sachin calls it a day.

Why you want him to be Sir Sachin Tendulkar, Instead he can be more gracious by called Shree Sachin Tendulkar. Man if wanted the knighthood he could have had it long back, but for that he should bow down before Queen and accept the award. As we are republic and no more a colony we would not like to do this and make our hero bow infront of queen. Bowing in front of Queen is still a sign of accepting them supreme. So Shree Sachin is lot better.

unfulfilled desires..
by Arindam Sarkar on Mar 03, 2008 11:27 PM  | Hide replies

Many had prayed that India be buldozed and thrashed in this tri series. Didn't happen, They beat Aus twice and Srilanka twice. The point has been proven that this team has the potential. Even if this team loses the Final, it doesn't matter.

Many wanted to tear apart Dhoni, it didn't happen. His avg in this series is 77.75 and he played a crucial role n India's win against Srilanka and Aus in the grop league. His captency was very good, kis keeping was excellent. He showed guts by demanding performance from the team and he effectively lead the team from front (by playing responsibly and being instrumental in most of the wins).

It appears from the rediff msg board that many are frustrated seeing India up to the final and beating Aus in their own backyard. They want team India to be mauled, battered and humiliated, else how would they satisfy their narrow minded desires.

Very well said Arindam. I'm deligethed to see such a thoughtful comment being posted here- most of the posts have been outrightly outrageous.

We certainly have a great team and a thinking captain- it's just a matter of time before they start winning consistently- the showing in Australia will do them a world of good.

Kudos Arindam again for sharing the facts with us!!
