Kumble is right, Nayan Mongia betrays
by Orient Mystique on Jul 01, 2008 11:30 AM  | Hide replies

I said in my post yesterday that I fully agree with Dhoni. Kumble, one of the most sensible cricketers, is echoing the same sentiments.

However, it was ridiculous and shameful to hear past cricketers like Nikhil Chopra and Nayan Mongia blurting irrelevant views in the most inhuman manner on TV (Headlines Today). Clearly they are jealous of the money and fame current day cricketers get to lay their hands on.

Everyone must realize that things are dynamic and it will be foolhardy to analyse things of today based on experiences of twenty or fifty years back.

I went to college (6 kms away from home) by public transport at nominal cost and sometimes even walked back home, chit chatting with friends. Today's boys are picked up by auto from home and dropped in school and back home.

When I joined a job, I got a starting salary of Rs.500/- which was considered fabulous by me that time. Today there are people (I am talking about average guys, not IIM products) who start on a salary of Rs.15,000/- or more.

Do these things mean that I should grudge and be jealous of today's generation?

Rise above petty and narrow mindedness folks.

90 overs per day, for continuous 5 days, i.e. 5 Days Test Cricket Match.
If players are used to play Test Matches for so many years, and never complain, about fatigue,
THEN, how come two One Day Matches will make problem ?
Actually these cricketers are playing for Money Only, or rather play less & advertise more, to earn money.
By playing less matches, they want to extend their career, and in return want to be in limelight for many years, so that by advertisement & contracts & IPL, they will earn more.
When Crores of Rupees were given to play IPL, these players never complained, and played, `14 matches within 36 days. THey never complained about fatigue.
Shame on these cricketers.

half the cricketers are fatigued not because of the money, Ask a Jawan what 72 hours of work is in non war area and what it is like 24 hours in a war zone, Half the guys writting this test Cricket vs One day have no idea what the mind is and how much fatigue it gets into. The body will stop once the mind starts to fatigue, If the mind is not fatigued in 100 hors the body also responds. Half the guys writting these blogs have no rspect for the game, its players and their efforts. Winning or losing is a part of the game, Money is for proffesionals, but remeber proffesionals, respected heroes are just puppets in front of our super heroes called administrator who have not moved a bone their lives. Moroons are ruling the games, our country, but we people can never see beyond the news channels.
If you see AAj tak, you can see either sensational murder news and it claims it is the no.1 news channels. But who wants news, we need sensational news. Donkeys will donkeys as partners. We will gewt what we want.if we dont get what we want, we crib. Same is with cricket. Idiots sitting in News who have created nothing note worthy in their lives talk only rubbish. Nukhil Chopra a hero for two games will talk any thing because they are being paid for sensational news. If you want to more about cricket I think Shastri is one of the best to speak to on the issue,

Too much cricket is taking toll on our health and making us losers ! Ha, ha ha. Anyways you are not playing for free or for charity, do you? No one want to see you die fielding in the cricket ground. If you want to earn money,it's your and your sponsor's problem. We cricket loving country will admire cricket no matter how much, when and where. It's high time now for the cricket board to sort this out or get thrashed by the Indian public.Keep a large pool of spare players and if a player is too tired or out of form kick out him and infuse fresh players or new youngsters. There are millions of talents waiting in queue who would be proud to play and win for their country !

You are right, they will definitely play for money, they won't voluntarily ask for rest or break.

But what are the people in BCCI doing? Just because money is given to a player, can you expect him not to get tired, play well and win matches for India?

The issue to be debated is not about the attitude of players, the money they get from playing matches and more by endorsements or contracts etc. The most important aspect of the issue is the absence of brain in those concerned in BCCI - inability to have and implement a meaningful, transparent rotation policy.

When recently the team's physio gave a written report that a certain player was not fully fit and needed minimum of 3 weeks rest for recouping, the concerned player ruled himself fit, played one test match against SA in which he flopped and then again declared himself unfit (reported aggravated injury) and did not play the remaining two tests.

Should BCCI be a mute spectator in such circumstances?

I can add one more example. Sreesanth was thankfully declared unfit and not considered for Bangladesh and Pakistan trips. Irfan Pathan did nothing of note in Bangladesh and the moment he landed in Pakistan, he was ruled unfit. He hasn't played in the three matches completed by India so far. What did BCCI do to ensure the match fitness of players before they left for an important tournament like Asia cup?

BCCI needs to learn to be more professional.

BCCI means Money

Dhoni's lambasting of ASIA cup scheduleis totally correct.
1. ODI is different from 20-20.Unlike 20-20 lots of running is needed.Players obviously gets more tired.
2. Unlike 20-20 , there's no time to recover when there's back-to-back matches. And By the way As far as I remember there was never a case when a team played back-to-back matches in IPL unlike what Idiot Shukla says.
3. Its not fair to schedule a tournament in such a way where 3 teams play back-to-back matches & 1 team doesnt.

In test matches, the team does not have the pressure to reach the target every day whereas in one dayer's it is the pressure and the energy exerted on each day for two continuous days which will take the toll. Test match is a game of patience and endurance where as one dayers are not like that. So it is not right to compare test matches and one dayers.

Players not interested in playing for country after IPL
by Jagannadh Raju on Jun 30, 2008 08:25 PM  | Hide replies

Our players after the IPL money lost interest in playing for the country. No interest for hardwork when easy money flowed in just hours of evening play. They should made to play foot ball or rugby daily during non playing days.

Lost interest??? What are you talking about.

Arent they winning. What else do u want. They are just telling u how strenious it is to have back to back. Dont just sit and make comments. They might make big bucks but it is still stranious and they have the right to let the schedulars know about it.

The point is why BCCI agreed to this Schedule when India is given two set of Back to Back games and Pakistan has none in this tournament.

I thought BCCI was the most powerful Board

Dhoni slams Asia Cup schedule
by Guest on Jun 30, 2008 05:59 PM  | Hide replies

I think BCCI has hired Dhoni & Co. as professionals , now tell me in which profession or which professionals get so many leaves(CL, Pl Medical ) in a year like our cricketer , the other professionals work for minimum 9hrs everyday so why cannot these professionals play cricket 9hrs everyday , they are not allowed to complain about the schedule as they are Hired to Play cricket they should know that.

Stupid

You and me are working inside offices and in Ac...

but they are sweating out in HOT sun... remember..

Even a construction worker takes 2 30 mins breaks and lunch break of 1 hour during their daily work hours but our cricketers are even not allowed to do this...

put some thought before putting such a ridiculous argument. the time he has mentioned only includes actual cricket and not the fitness regimes, practice games, travelling etc. if u cant understand that, too bad.
also they are doing physical work and not sedentary work.
