There is no doubt that Dhoni' captaincy is giving an edge to Indian Team but cant compare his batting with Sachin THE MASTER. Sachin has given his 18 years and performed consistently where Dhoni is just 3 and half years old in Indian Cricket.

Dhoni is a young player, primarily a wicket keeper, whose batting should be considered a bonus.
Sachin is a classy batsman, who can become a partnership breaker occasionally with his leg spin, off spin and medium pace. To expect Sachin to take 3-5 wickets in every match will be ridiculous.
The ranking concerns the batting of the players, taking into account various factors like number of runs scored, the quality of opposition etc.
To compare Dhoni and Sachin betrays the naivete of the comparer.
Leaving aside ICC rankings and any other rankings by the likes of CEAT or MARUTI SUZUKI, for the ordinary and dispassionate cricket fans like me, Dhoni is a star in his own way.
People may talk vainly about his luck, realizing in the least that fortune always favours the brave. It should be clear that there can be luck only when somebody starts doing something, not when somebody is blogging incessantly on rediff forum or elsewhere.
And, for the sake of argument if one were to admit the luck factor, how can luck help a player / captain to win a series of tournaments / series like (a) ODI series at home against Pakistan last year (b) 2 out of 6 ODIs against Australia in India, a very creditable performance for those who know cricket (c) T20 world cup in SA (d) CB Triseries in Australia (e) 2 out of 3 matches in Kitply triseries in Bangladesh (f) reaching the finals and losing off the very last ball against RR in IPL trophy while leading CSK (g) 3 out of 3 matches in t

honi is cool Captain with clever way of down playing the importance of players like Sehwag & others...he dropped Sehwag against bangladesh as a so called rotation policy ..rightly Sehwag has questioned Dhonis intention & adives rest for Dhoni also!!!!
Dhoni is lucky that others are performing and winning matches whereas his avg after becoming Captain has dropped with poor 30's.. I fail to understand how his ranking is within top 10.. his IPL ranking was very poor may be 20 or so!!! He is paying to get the 4th rank!!!
