Great!! Ponting now wants fast pitches. He will now that he has no Shane Warne and his fast bowlers are struggling on slow tracks. When turning tracks are prepared, then there is a cry of foul play. The Aussies are real cry-babies.

yes , absolutely agreed , but its exiting for some one who has has played with a leather ball, not so with the new generation who has grown up on tennis balls.. if at all they have ever played ...Pointing you are talking of a different game ...guys in india have never heard the ball vistle past their ears..so for them , baase ball and cricket is same unfortunately.

Hello!!! Did you forget the Perth Test...which has the fastest pitch in the world...and who won that match?India or Austrtalia? And which seasoned batsmen...reputedly one of the best players in the world, was made to look like a rookie by Ishant Sharma?

Come on man...give us a break...it's people like you who run down our lads. Indian players of today are as adept at playing fast bowling like their counterparts in other teams. We have fast bowelers in India as well....if you didn't notice.

With so called lively wickets

useless bowlers like Mitchell Johnson who have no skill and no pace tend to prosper. All they have to do is pitch the ball short of length and the pitch will do the rest. It is just like how easy it is for the batsmen on a flat wicket. We need to strive for a balance between bat and ball.

We need all kinds of wickets. cricket is not all about bouncers, bowlers needs to bowl on flat surfaces, batsmen needs to bat on turners, and captains need to break their head how to bowl out an opponent in flat surfaces. Now since Aussies are not that winning everything, they come up stories of test cricket not interesting stuff like that.

1996 world cup the turning point.
by Daniel on Jun 13, 2008 08:19 PM  | Hide replies

till 80s and 90s, ind were afraid of pak (rather- facing their pacers). but 1996 world cup removed all the fear from our mind. even 1992 wc victory against pak was mainly due to our bowlers. ind's score of 216 was not chased by pak batters who were allout for 173 runs. actually the position has been totally changed after wc 1996.

the turning point was in the brave innings in 1996 world cup, from ajay jadeja who hit towering sixes against the most dreadful bowler waqar, removing all the fear against pak bowlers. then ind started scoring big runs like crossing 300 run barrier against pak in the very next tourney in sharjah where siddhu/sachin played havoc with pak bowling, sidhu scoring century(!).
now india is in the driver's seat and pak is afraid of india but thanks to the turning point innings from ajay jadeja.

Gud point Mr. Pointing, but cricket is not only fast and bouncy aussies types of wickets, so let us have 5 test match series, like this..Play 2 on fast bouncy track, 2 on square turner spinning wickets and one on the batting paradise wicket and let the series be decided..also have a toss or lottery which test to start on fast wic and which to have spinning wic...as this will remove any pyschological adv some team will have by having the series first match on the pitches of their strenght and have 1-0 lead...Let's be innovative...
