It is really good that whatever else be its long term impact on cricket in general, IPL has helped a few new names to come into prominence - like Gony (Goni?), Asnodkar, Abishek Nayyar, Yomahesh, Sangwan, Shikar Dhawan and P Ohja. It has also given a chance to some fringe players or those who have been in the waiting to re-stake their claim to inclusion in Team India - like Suresh Raina, Yusuf Pathan.
Congratulations and best of luck to Goni (who was reported in the press to have braved personal setbacks in his life) who has got a break not a day too soon (he is 24 years of age?).
One also hopes that the selectors' idea of not including players like Ganguly and Dravid is not an experiment or short term measure but they will continue to repose faith in the young brigade.
Manpreeth Gony should return with flying colours, like that Irfan Pathan debuted in Pakisthan with Balaji. Pathan did remarkable job there and afterwards also. You should not leave this great opportunity to retain your Spot in the Indian Team. After all, we also shld encourage the new comers

leave him alone and dont compare with anybody. This is the prolbme with India and it's spectactors and fans. They create a Hype arround any youngster and will critiicise them badly when they dont play well. Any youngster needs time to adjust in International cricket as there is a big difference between the domestic and in international cricket. Let's not put more pressure on the new youngsters. if they play well, well and good and if they can not, atleast they will know the difference and try to play well in the future.
Best wishes for Gony. It is always good to give new young players a chance. We can wait & see. If Gony got the talent, he will stay. Otherwise he will disappear as fast as he come to First class cricket. What so ever..best lucks ..young man

its minnow not meanow! and it doesn't matter if new talent performs well against weaker opposition..its important for them to start againt AUSSIES and SA to showcase their skills! Shame on your cricketing knowledge and attitude!
Pitch Report: "It's hard, well rolled and devoid of grass," says Arun Lal, former India cricketer, who adds that "there is moisture underneath and that could have an impact". Field first, is his call.
Bangladesh win the toss and choose to bowl. Huge roar from the crowd as Ashraful has a chat first with Rameez Raja. They know their boy has won the toss.It will be 41-overs per side game
We have to try our gony for onedayers. coz in T20, he can maximum bowl 4 overs. Here, we will find out and catch him whether he is the competitor for bhajji, sreesanth and balaji

first he has to prove whether he can even compete against the likes of bangladesh..vengsarkar is a fool to say one day t20 is not 50 overs cricket and next day he selects the IPl stars into the team. T20 heroes will be caught here coz batsmen like pathan will try to slog impatiently and get out even if they are batting in 20th to 30th over and Gony will be easily sorted out as batsmen can wait and don't have to hit him out immediately...
just because he bowled some few good 4 over spells in IPL where not even half the international players were playing, he becomes good for onedayers. He has hardly played even 5 first class matches in ranji trophy and took 13 wickets in 5 matches. Is this good enuf for selection to national team? Vengsarkar is just another idiot taken in by IPL hoopla.
Agarkar should have been selected as he has 291 wickets from 188 games and there are no senior bowlers in the oneday team now with zaheer khan injured.

Yes, Agarkar should be given a chance to give the opponents extra member in their team and India has to be played with only 10 members in their team

He has taken 291 wickets from 188 games...highest per match for any indian and 3rd highest ODI wicket taker for India...he is far better than any madrasi cricketer who don't stand a chance near him...crap balaji and co. who gave the opposition extra team member(s) like in IPL final...

Agarkar is useless. Yes he did take 291 wickets but 1.) In last 2 years of so, he has taken very few wickets in the 1st spell which is key. 2.) He is totally unreliable and does not bowl well when required. He gives away 1-2 boundary balls per over, his overall economy rate is almost 5.2 which is very high. 3.)Check the records and see how many he has taken in the in the slog overs. Many of the wickets taken during slog overs are not significant and not necessariyly due to good bowling. Fact is Agarkar is over hill (the hill he was on, was not very tall in any case). Gony is the right choice in place of Sreesanth.

I agree with you. Agarkar is the most hyped bowler in India. He was good during his first few years, but now lost his zip and is very inconsistent these days. I have seen a lot of times bowling very badly when team needs him. And he is the most expensive bowler with an economy rate of over 5 and is very inconsistent in the way he bowls.
