We too have Hashish. His name is Hashish Nehra. He is a better bowler than the Paki druggie.

Why do they follow different law for cricketers? Law is common to everybody and this offence should be handled as per law.

yes PCB went out of the way to seek hs release.
It is proved that he had drugs with him.
they shall ban asif for 1-2 series and then again he shall start playing.
ICC is a dummy spectator.

Shaoib Akthar
by karn vir on Jun 05, 2008 03:43 PM  | Hide replies

I don't know how many of you noticed this?? Shoiab Akthar took 4 wickets in his first match in IPL against Delhi....next match he was not effective...then report about syringes found in his bag came...then, dope test was announced...after that shoaib akthar didn't play anymore...citing injury.....it is more or less proved that there are drug abusers in cricket and maybe a lot in Pakistan...this reminds me of the world cup that Pakistan won..where Imran was captain and he was injured...he openly claimed that he was taking pain injections......

Pain killers are not performance-enhancing drugs.

Then, in 1992, Imran had a serious shoulder injury. But, he still wanted to play the semi-final against New Zealand. He took pain killers just to be able to play the match rather than enhancing his performance. I remember, due to pain, he was not even able to complete his full quota of overs. In that match, he had played solely as a batsman.

What ever may be the news about imran as long as sports is concerned that particular match he played and made his team members to play for his country to win the world cup he showed temperament, determination which our great cricketers lacked in commitment in that form of the game.We had kapil, mohinder, g r vishwanath etc in the past.

Asif's Case
by Anand on Jun 05, 2008 03:39 PM  | Hide replies

Rediff reporting is absurd.
First, they said that Asif has been cleared of all charges, and is going to be released immediately.
Then they said, Asif is still under investigation.
Today they are telling the story of Hashish. Now, what next?

it is not faulty report by rediff only but by entire mdeia.
There is some communication gap from dubai.
I hope today's report about hashish is final.

In UAE, possesion of drugs in small quantity is assumed to be for personal consumption and hence people are only deported. Anything that is more than the set limit is considered trafficking and can attract life improsonment depending on the seriousness.

Atleast better of in India ... where drugs are trafficked in open.

Only in Saudi, not in UAE. Also, if the drug is for personal consumption and not for trafficking, they will deport you and stamp your passport so that you can never come back.

UAE is sick..we all know what has been happening out there right from slavery ,camel jockeys and also poor guys will be punished to the mximum extent, whereas people like this Asif,DJ aqeel, another american singer (forgot his name)..escapes the penalty...UAE is a hard core supporter of terrorism like Saudi, but they are good allies of the big brother

OK, so now its clear that Asif was carrying hashish or opium!!! that is a crime in any part of the globe(except pakiland!!!), especially in an ISLAMIC state like UAE!!!!

But still there will be no charges pressed against him, he will be 'deported' (read released !!!) and he will soon be seen in action in the asia cup!!!

What would have happened if the culprit was a hindu or a jew???

would the dubai authorities been this lenient!!!!
