It's my pet peeve to use simply numbers in giving statistics...Rediff should have said how much % vote each got and what was the % difference in their votes...makes more sense out of it...anyone disagree?

If you knew a bit of maths, you could calculate those. 71 out of 118 is 60.17%. Rest of the votes for Prasun. Victory margin is roughly 20%.
Dalmia's contribution to Indian Cricket is more than Sahard Power. His return to power in CAB will not be taken well by those Maharastian lobbiest. Ganguly's return to Indian team is a clear case study of not only Indian Cricket but also in todays corporate world.
So, Please, never ever undermine him. You may like Sachin, Dhoni, Dravir...
But it's sure Ganguly had P's on Kiran More and Chappel.
And, Sharad Power is one of those power hunger of Indian Politician.
With Dalmiya's victory in the CAB election, SouravDa's First class Ranji trophy career with Bengal seems to be over.....cos Dalmiya will never forget and forgive how Ganguly family deserted him in his moments of trouble...
Also, the involvement of Snehashish Ganguly, former CP of Calcutta Prasun Mukherjee and Todi family in the death of Rizwanur Rehman, will not be forgotten so easily......I thinkl all these things have gone against Prasun Mukherjee...and Ganguly family being seen close to Prasun Mukherjee, will not be spared by powerful Dalmiya lobby...seems tough days ahead for Dear Dada....

I agree with you. Being a Calcuttan, I always thought SG betrayed JD because only captain cannot bring success without the help of other members as well as admin staff. SG was able to take a lot of decisions freely because JD was at the helm of the admin.
he is dynamic person. he transformed BCCI into cash cow. he taught BCCI official how to do business. sharad pawar is only a big ass knows how to grab opportunity but dalmiya created opportunity. well done dalmiya .

Yes, and he was also involved in a 25 crore scam with the BCCI....and 25 crore is not a small amount.....if much ado was made about Gavaskar having 3 lakhs in his locker at the Wankhede, why should we spare this corrupt man????

The 25 crore scam that you are talking about is all nonsense that the Pawar lobby is spreading.

@ Manish Shashi: On the contrary, Sourav Ganguly's days as Bengal player are numbered now. With his ODI place already gone and his Test place under threat, Ganguly must be cursing this win by Dalmia.
@Sanjeeb Ganguly: Please stop fooling yourself. Apart from Wriddhiman Saha (who is perhaps amongst the top five keepers at national level now - Dhoni, Kartick, Parthiv are already there), nobody else from Bengal are in the real reckoning. Manoj Tiwari hardly scores runs these days, L R Shukla lacks big-match temperament, S S Paul has fallen way behind other up-and-coming Indian pacers, Ranadeb Bose is on the downhill slide, Srivats Goswami is too raw. So, it's still Sourav Ganguly only and his days are also numbered.
By the way, I am from Kolkata and love Bengal but not blind enough to push for players from Bengal for the national team.

Sanjeev ganguly, U r PEA BRAIN
U r total typical Nutty Bong Typical A.. Hole
Don't U know dat Sourav Dada and Dalmiya are now not friend but JAAANI DUSHMAN. Dalmiya IN means Sourav Dada ke din lad gaye, he is almost gone. I 100% agree Dada is still better captain then all other Stupid lot in Indian cricket team at present but he plays role as captain only, he also has to contribute as player. thats the reason for his downfall. Though I will personally like to C Dada back as ROYAL BENGAL TIGER crrooning Ajantha Mendis's Middle finger which Ajantha is spooking in Every Indian cricketers Backyard.

Fair criticism! I agree with you. Just one more point, Can SG deny JD's contribution to his success as a captain? I'm sure, NO. But when the time came to reciprocate, he .......
