consistency not in England
by aseem gupta on Jul 22, 2008 01:14 PM  | Hide replies

the consistency in england team is not atall there (same like india) but unlike india performs consistently well in home series. I think the world is losing or never gained interest in cricket unless the game pattern is shortened to 3-4 hrs of game like rugby, football, baseball, tennis etc. We need to arouse people in the world to play cricket otherwise the cricket world cannot see some real interest. I think more t20 leagues should be formed and the winners of 1 league should play with winners of another and this way the real winner will emerge. People's interests ca only be increased by making it short, simple and exciting. The solid technique is not a requisite for cricket nemore. Power hitters like symmonds, dhoni, yuvraj etc are required to arouse people's interest.

England miss some key players.........

England definitely missed some key players like Harmison, Hoggard.
SA is not as strong as ranking shows.
But their strength is they capitalize the weak performance of another team. One bad session and you will be out of the match.
Eng played poor cricket in first inning, thats the reason for their defeat.

hey m8 ... harmison was proplonged out of form bowler so he was not opted. Also hoggard is good bowler only when the conditions suit him. I think with flintoff back, this is the best England team they could have selected.

Yes. People don't know what they like. ICC should make sure people watch only what ICC want people to see.

Australia population is less than the population of Mumbai & Thane. In other words India is 55 times bigger than Australia in population. West Indies population is less than half of Chennai city. Same thing with South Africa.

All these countries represent minuscule population in comparison to India. So India - WI match is like 110 crore Vs 0.5 crore. This is the fundamental reason people lose interest.

For these small countries to make money, IPL should be banned. So that advertisement revenue generated from test matches with India can be shared with these countries (cities actually).

It is a shame that during IPL all family members (house wives and children) watched cricket along with dad. This is unheard thing.

Cricket should be watched only by middle ages men. That is the English tradition.

Cricket purist and middle ages men like you and Anurag Rathore should determine what is good for masses. What ever we do we have to make sure children and wives don't watch cricket.

"South Africa are seeking their first series win in England since their return from international isolation. They last won in 1965??" Hard to believe for a strong South African Team.

SA would have won the series in 1998, but thanks to near 11hrs innings by Mike Atherton who hit a century.
