Guys noticed this is a 12 member a side match......
by kalia perumal on Jul 18, 2008 10:34 PM  | Hide replies

12 players per side..

only 11 get to bat

only 11 fielders at a time,

Sad India can't field same team for first test..

Probably one bowler wil b omitted.

Ok this meaningless series that no one is interested in watching is being hyped up so that people might tune in.
But the fact is that even though usually Sri lankans punch above their wieght, they are plainly put, mediocre. They play in favourable conditions and they play against alot of bad teams. Still not even in the top 3 test teams.
They have no talent like indians and usually lose to Pakistan in big matches. The fact is they are still sidekiicks to indians and they should recognize their place.
Also their win in 1996 WC was a fluke as their team went on to prove. By the team 1999 WC cam about no one took them seriously.
I still remember how their tape recordings came out right after the WC in Singapor Tournament in 1996, where Jay'sria scored fastest century of that time and thy still lost.
Sorry no respect for them.
However the team that played 200 WC looked more professional and thorough. But it is not our duty to play with them and help them improve.
India should play Eng , S Africa, NZL Aus more often. Enough of playing with Pakis and Sri lankans.

What about India's WC win in 1983? Wasn't that a fluke? I suggest India play against Nepal and Bhutan in a triangular series and create all sorts of records. Good luck to India

You tell me!!! Was that a fluke??
Lets see
India played against a great team...
won the match fair and square..
Pitch or weather conditions did not play any role
Now let compare that with Sri Lanks's fluke.
They played Australia an excellent team
But Aussies lost the match to 'DUE' factor and not to the lankans. Get used to it.
These days they start the matches an hour and a half early in LAhore.... Bcos they recognised the problem ... So plese dont fool yourself.
And if playing Nepal and Bhutan is exciting then why not?? Dont look down upon themm

If you have watched Ishant Sharma in IPL matches, you can remember the local medium pacer, named Ashok Dinda, had bowled much better than him.

He is a much media-hyped bowler. Some players, who are lucky, get oppotunity like him to start their career in their favourite pitch. For batsmen who starts there career in sub-continent pitches and bowlers who start there career in Australia,NZ,WI are really lucky.

true. ishant has been lucky in that he cud bowl on ausi pace friendly pitches. had he been tried like in the domestic pitches, he might have been thrown out of the team n may not hv got any further chances also.

Freaking Mendis......
by saurin surendrabhai travadi on Jul 18, 2008 09:27 PM  | Hide replies

As BCCI has decided not to go with senior players like Saurav, Laxman & Dravid with Sachin missing from the ODI team - Mendis could spell his magic.

With these guys in for test squad, Mendis has a tough job ahead in front of him, remember once when Abdul Kadir - one of the greats of leg spinner said, likes Vengi and others picked him well before he pitches the ball.

Yuvi, Raina and team are very knew and may not be so well versed as others are...

I just wish, I hope Mendis will be hit all over the ground pretty much like what they did to Warnnie.....

I wish Dhoni could have opted to join as a batsman and could have proved lot as he was the only player who could play Mendis well in ODI

Best of luck

Zaheer gets into his groove. Batting have rarely been our problem, it's the bowling department that bothers us.

bowling attack
by jyotirmoy banerjee on Jul 18, 2008 08:32 PM

though india bowled well...but they must be carefull in the middle overs..as we have seen today when srilankans 4 wickets fell to early.but the 5th wicket partnership gave them 100 runs..so the indian bowlers should not bowl lightly in the middle overs..
