DROP GANGULY IMMEDIATELY!!!
by arijit mookerjee on Jul 12, 2008 04:22 AM

I am really disappointed to see Ganguly in the test team! He should have been dropped, as many learned folks on this forum have rightly suggested. Here are some logical reasons for that:

1) He was India's best batsman and Man of the Match in India's last test.
2) Leaving aside Viru's 300 in the flat track in the first test, he was India's best batsman in their last test series against SA.
3) Since his return in Dec 2006, he has undoubtedly been India's most consistent and successful test batsman.
4) He made one of the greatest, if not the greatest, comeback in Indian cricket history against all odds.
5) He cannot play pace - but who was India's top scorer and best batsman in SAFrica?
6) He cannot play swing - but who was India's second highest scorer in England and if not for being incorrectly given out twice would have been the highest?
7) He cannot play spin - need not say any more
8) He cannot play on difficult tracks - Kanpur against SA was what sort of a track and Dale Styne and Ntini are what quality of bowlers?
9) Apart from VVS at his best, who is aesthetically the best Indian batsman today?
10) India's greatest ever left-handed batsman (any doubt?)

Well....there could be more reasons to justify his dropping but is anyone listening? The 10 above, most of them relate to the "present" and not the "past" are reasons enough.

Does anyone disagree? PLEASE DROP GANGULY IMMEDIATELY!

Haroon Lorgat (ICC Chief) - how childish he is for that pristine post!
by computer learning on Jul 11, 2008 09:18 PM

From Cricinfo.com - regarding ci-icc/content/current/story/360694.html, what is the origin of Haroon Lorgat (the new ICC chief executive)? Does he have a south asian origin? His comments are childish for the post he holds. Which era does he belong to when Cricinfo reported he says: "My folks always told me to be careful because money is the root of all evil. ..." When would a person holding such a pristine position in one of the leading games in the world understand "Money is *not* *the* root of all evil - rather the emotion of having plenty of money is a root of all evil - Hindu book Gita says too, so does Christian Bible too". The holy books mention that "well managed money" is perfectly fine - rather an essential ingredient - for the mankind growth. Teach Haroon Lorgat that. Forward these comments to him. Include your valuable comments too.

Some one wrote that in 2003 Ganguly scored at an average of 18 if you take out 3 centuries against Keniya / Namibia! It is shameful to see that pepole question his contribution to INdia's ODI victores. All big run chases that India won had Dada's contribution.

Take Dhoni now. He scored 2 zeros in 3 matches in WI world cup. He scored 100 against Hongkong. But no, today he is darling of all - even greater than Sachin!! I pity u

I think the people do have a valid reason to say that... Why just World cup? Look at his entire career in Test matches. His centuries have always come against weak bowling attacks. Always.

Why compare against Dhoni? Compare against Tendulkar. He is still playing well. Why don't you all Bongs accept that he has lost his ball to eye combination. He cannot face fast bowlers. And anyway, one has to retire one day, everybody retires and goes away. He should also retire now.

My memory is pretty good... You are diluting the issue by adding the One Day scores in Test matches. I clearly talked about TESTS. Look at each of his centuries in tests and then look at the quality of opposition bowlers and match state. Again, I am talking about Test matches.. ever heard of them? Instead of worrying about public memory, focus on your concentration skills while reading.

Hi Vibhu Sharma - what's your point? Are you trying to prove by hook or by crook that Ganguly is not one of the greatest batsman to have played for India, and in current form, easily one of its tops 3 in TESTS?? Why waste everyone's time and energy by irrelevant discussions? You cannot change facts nor history. Just face it, the post 2006 Ganguly saga is one of Indian crickets greatest endearing stories and whether a bengali or nor, this fact cannot be taken away. So am not sure what are you trying to prove?

U mean centuries against Aus in Aus, SA in SA, Pak are against weak teams? Dear Vibhu, go drink some milk and write after feeding your brain.

Dhoni has only one century in 29 tests on a dead Faisalabad pitch when 1703 runs were made in 3 innings for a tame draw. He took 14 matches before he scored his first test century while Ganguly scored back to back hundreds in his first 2 tests in England on fast seaming pitches. No comparison in class or skills.

Now, he ran away from Mendis. Next he will run away from an Australian series down under. Look at his miserable scores in the test series in australia.

Guys, shame of ur statements. When a guy announces that he wants to take a rest, u guys r telling he ran away. When he is continously playing cricket, u were telling he is playing only for money, why cant eh take rest and give chances to others?

Double standard opinions.u SUCKS :):):):

It is so amusing to see SO MANY people fighting online. How can they don't understand that fighting online is like participating in a 'special' Olympics? Even if you win, you are still a RETARD. Just read the news and express your opinion if you feel like it. Peace.

People participating in SPECIAL OLYMPICS are not retards. It the parents who gave birth to you that are. If they were clever enough they would have aborted you. Too bad!
