Yuvi dropped
by vellani sarath on Jul 10, 2008 09:05 PM

Good to see UV getting dropped. He can as well be dropped occasionally from the ODI team also.... He is more interested in beach parties than cricket... Idiotic fellow....

He went to a late nite beach party and returned early morning on the finals of Asia Cup... Loves to party more than play for his country...

Let us wait till Gambhir has played 400 ODIs to call him a choker or otherwise. Now it is too early.

Tendulkar averages above 52 in tournament finals, and have scored 5 centuries in finals (all 5 in match winning cause).

I don't think so ganguly is required in your above selection. I don't see any opportunity for young players.
If you really require him then it should be on a rotational basis.
I suggest to include some young player along with one or two senior players in the team.
Please reply to this.

You may say that about test only. In ODIs he scored at the Strike rate of around 60-70%, even on the 300 pitch...go figure yourself.

The Green eyed boy Agarkar must have known some bed room secrets of the Board President. Otherwise he may not played so many matches for India. He may be be the quickest to take 50 wkts and won the Test match for India at Adelide but all other matches are waste. If it is the criteria Vinodh Kambli also must have played so many years for his Test performance against England in India

Wondering why Agarkar is not there
by Calspadeaspade on Jul 09, 2008 01:49 AM  | Hide replies

He is the ultimate saviour like Jesus. Agarkar single handedly takes 8 wckets and makes the remainig players run out by just hitting the stumps from out field. Then comes to bat and scores 300 runs but not out. In other words he is the Rajni Kanth in real life cricket. Any comments?

parthiv shud b the first choice
by vinay on Jul 08, 2008 11:20 PM  | Hide replies

karthik selection for the ausi tour itself was dubious. it was only for the kumble who supported him. karthik was a flop prior to ausi tour and in ausi tour and has not performed during ipl also.

whereas parthiv has been performing consistently throughout the season in ranji matches, during A tours, scoring more than 1500 runs and he succeeded even in ipl tourney.

parthiv is a revelation of its own kind, not only in batting but also in keeping. parthiv deservedly got a call, which was due during the ausi tour itself.

Mr. Vinay,
Karthick is a better test batsman. He performed very fine in England tour and was the top scorer of that series. His performance dipped in Pakistan's tour of India and he was unceremoniously dumped from team in Australia. He didnt play in the Ausi tour at all. Keep your facts before bashing someone. Parthiv never made good in international level. Also we are not talking about T20. Thsi is test matches and Karthick has prooved he is a good opener.Atleast he is a better batsman and wicket keeper than Parthiv

senthil. agreed, karthik played really well in eng, but then his performances fell well short of expectation prior to ausi tour. even his selection for ausi tour was dubious to many. it was only kumble who ws his saviour. n his performance after that in ipl has also been not worthy of a mention.

as regards parthiv, he has been consistent performer throughout the last season. he has scored not merely on dead ind pitches, but also scored heavily on zimbabwe and sa pitches against the likes of nel/ dale steyn. scored century in irani trophy against the ranji champ bombay. and he is a much improved batsman and keeper as well. played with good temperament in ipl also while coming to open the inning. in fact, he has opened for ind also as a raw teenager against the likes of then dangerous shoaib akhtar even in test matches.
so on current form, parthiv is better option.

however, i agree that karthik is better than this much hyped dhobi.

Mr Vinay Patel and Senthil Tamilian, pl stop fighting about such good for nothing keepers. Parthiv is incompetent and have been given far many chances. He kept his batting in his backyard and always concentrated on his wicket keeping, which was not good either. Karthik is inconsistent. If in good form, he is an average batsman, otherwise a pathetic one.

Mr True India Madrasi, Parthiv was given a chance when he wasn't even 20. He was one gutsy solid bat but wicket keeping suxed. He is much better keeper now and he is much matured player..

good decision
its good that
dhoni is not in the test team. not fit for test format.
jaffer is out. and in form gambhir deserved a place.
good to see parthiv and karthik in the team.
good that yuv has been warned by dropping him and also resting dhoni;viru has been promoted as vc.
may b raina or badrinath was better than rohit.
amit mishra wud hv been a better choice in test format than ojha. mishra is really a good googly bowler even better than chawla in test team.

rohit instead of laxman? if laxman is not there then, v can go for the 5th bolr instead of rohit.
and on current form, parthiv looks better than karthik as keeper.
