Australian dirt? That must have been the dirt that Dravid was rubbing into the ball when he was caught ball tampering...anyways...

I think Calspadeaspade is an Indian (notice the 'we'). Does this mean that Indians are robbers, terrorists and murderers? And so on?

You must be having a bad day....

Fair point. And my Hindi is limited to certain words that have been in the media lately. I was not criticising your English skills, I was criticising your choice of words. If that is due to a misunderstanding, well fair enough..

Smooth shift !!
by Nand on Feb 01, 2008 09:31 AM

I think everyone is missing a rather serious point here, the hullabullo that the aussie media is creating and pontings statement that his players are very upset with the harbajhan verdict is all distractive strategy to steer away from the main issue, which was certainly the umpiring in the sydney test.If the BCCI was really all that smart, they should have targetted the umpiring issue then & there, if all those notorious (bucknor & benson) decisions that went against India were questioned, and contested(pls remember it wasn' just a stray mistake an umpire makes once in a while)The very outcome of the sydney test would have been different,BCCI should have used its so called 'clout' to make that test null and void! The series (which will go down in history as a victory for Australia) would have ended otherwise!THIS is what the Australians feared! and they played their cards very well. The racist issue got highlighted, the umpiring issue swept under the carpet!History will show they won 16 tests in a row & also a series victory, harbajhan issue will be forgotten! Real score:Cricket Australia=1, BCCI =0 !! Think about it! it was a smooth shift from what the Australians really FEARED!

I love numbering...
1) And?
2) Lets just for a minute assume that the Aussies did try to frame him. Usually, if your going to catch mice, you use cheese. Wouldn't work if mice don't like cheese. Do you get my drift???
3) If the *b* word is abusive, then you can include *f*, *c* and any other letter you can think of. If these are abusive, we'll have two new teams for next weeks OD series as everyone (from both teams) will be suspended.
4) Mike Proctor actually played the game for a long time (unlike some people). He has a fair idea of whats a catch, when someone genuinely thinks they have a catch (whether they do or not) and when someone is dodgy. I will agree that if your unsure of whether you have caught it or not, you should ask rather than appeal but IMO thats the worst you can accuse P and C of.
5) Read the judgement. Symonds was not proven wrong. There was INSUFFICIENT evidence to meet a VERY high standard of proof. This means that the word of three Aussies was insufficient GIVEN that there was a viable explanation (Tendulkars) for the comment. Bhaji plays international cricket for a team with 24hr attention, constant media and the constant intrusion into his life from the Indian public. And you suggest that we gave him unnecessary mental tension. I guess the stuff Indians give him must be necessary.

We will be happy when Indians stop reinventing recent history and get on with the cricket.

I like the way you disregarded all my other answers. Should have been expected.

To use your own words. Lets assume Oz puts other things into cricket (as you say). Then India will not tolerate it anymore (as you say). How are India going to show this? With cricket or the 'other stuff'. I suspect the other stuff as has been shown in recent days.

Rediff have another article here with Dhoni talking about onfield chit-chat. Guess he must be concentrating on the cricket.

I'm using your 'facts' to make a point. I don't agree with them so I (for the sake of the discussion (aren't I nice)) am assuming they are correct. By saying assume, I'm indicating to you that I am taking these facts as correct.

RE:STILL AUSTRALIANS ARE NOT HAPPY????

Of course Ponting and other players maniuplate umpires. Why do you think Kumble appeals so often. He's trying to get the umpire to think that it was close, so the ball that is a little closer may be given out. All good spinners do it, most good captains do it and most top batsmen do it. Why do batsmen move there leg outside the line after being hit on the pad? They're trying to manipulate the umpires into believing they were hit outside the line of the stumps. All top batsmen do it. Its not bad spirit, its good technique.

So, why did Kumble say the 'spirit of the game' comments after Sydney. He was trying to manipulate the whole ICC. If manipulation was the key to having a test voided, it would probably be about 40 years since the last completed test.

India have valid complaints to make about the Sydney test and they involve ordinary decisions. Thats not our problem, that the ICC and they have dealt with it.

So if you want, go to sleep tonight with the thought that India did win the test series 2-1, you'll obviously sleep better.

....and to doogie all i wanna say is...Doc, all this crap abour racism etc are just an eyewash, the Indians were undone by the notorious Benson & Bucknor duo with a lil manipulation by Mr.Ponting! if those umpiring decisions were questioned, challenged and investigated, the sydney test should have been declared null & void! where wud that leave the mighty aussies? Think about it! series score wud have been INDIA 2, Australia 1! THIS was avoided! THINK ABOUT IT 'MATE' !

Really. I like how a lot of people on this website say 'the whole world' and 'everyone'. India may have a quarter of the worlds population, but its not everyone (yet).

So whoever provocates first is guilty. Ok. well by your rules its amazing how Sreesanth can ever play. Of course, Indians are never the instigators, just the victims.

All of this is beside the point. I'm prepared to admit that my countries cricketers play to the rules of the game but not the spirit. Are you prepared to admit the same for India? How many more charges of dissent, abusive language, intimidation etc. do you need?

RE:STILL AUSTRALIANS ARE NOT HAPPY????

We'll be happy when people who say stuff they shouldn't pay the price for their actions. Lehmann was done on the word of the SL's in the next room. All we needed was for someone from the Oz dressing room to say he said 'those damn Black Cats' and he would have got off (based on the Hansen judgement and the very high standard required). Instead he faced up and took his punishment.

This time round, we have threats of quitting the tour if the umpire is not replaced. Well Bucknor goes. Threats of quitting the tour if this happens, if that happens. If Booji was found innocent based on evidence, then so be it. However the impression here is that India worked the whole thing. Especially given the fact that his sentence was reduced to a fine (and no suspension) by an 'administrative error'. Funny that, especially given the threat was that if Booji was suspended for 1 game, India would be going home.

Thats why we are not happy. Someone has fudged the system, and with the BCCI the most to gain, they are the ones most likely to have done it. Oz will play by the rules, you guys just make up your mind what you want them to be. After all, it was the subcontinental teams that asked for (and agreed to) the ICC racial laws in the first place.

Good evening Doogie,

Nice 2 c your recent post but as usual not convince with your logic to include Sreesanth (by digging from depth...:).......Will we come to any conclusion if we fill all the space by examples of history( I may also recall all the incidents right from Dennis lillee time...)

U can feel comfortable to extend the things (like SOP OPERA) bcoz ur an actor as told by you....but same is not fit for me.....I want a result being an engineer :)

And even after so much episodes / discussion....my basic question is still pending to you for answer.....WHY AUSTRALIANS ARE NOT HAPPY AND WHEN THEY WILL FEEL HAPPY????.....:)))

I'll try again.

Sreesanth can be nasty on the field. Lillee could also be nasty on the field. There are many others also. Thats my point. Its been going on for ages, when its good its funny, when its bad its ugly. Commentary on the cricket field is good, however when its descends into abuse, well theres a problem. So the first to open they're mouth shouldn't be punished, it should be the first to become abusive (which are the rules that are in place now.)

I'm not really an actor. Google my name to find out more.

I've already answered your question. You may not understand it or agree with it but I have answered it. Are you going to answer mine???

OZ's will trap Sreesanth

After Harbhajan Oz's will plan to get Sreesanth in trouble by targeting him. Srresanth is prone to temper tantrums and will be the next problem for BCCI. It won't take more than a match for Sreesanth to get banned. The referree as usual will not impose penalty on OZ players.

All the evidence points to the fact that Symonds was the guy who abused and not Harbajan. So not sure why the Aussies are making all the fuss now... BCCI should initiate action with ICC to ban Symonds. They have all proof from "Hansen's" verdict.

Judge Hansen also was critical about Mr. Clarke.

It all stems from the fact that Ponting's ineptitude in being an ambassador of the sport as is warrranted of someone who can be termed as a senior and also a captain.
